.. I've placed offcuts of old carpet in strategic places to avoid scrapes particularly when opening the door!

I suppose you also have the tennis ball slung from a bit of string on the ceiling to gently hit the windscreen to tell you you've gone far enough LOL

No, I have a vertical line of tape on the wall - when It aligns with the door mirror I know when to stop!

Good tip there, though, Stephen!😀

comparison sites are the first point of call, i always look on them when i get my renewal quote, I save at least £100 instead of renewing there's no loyally anymore, one thing to remember is, when taking out a new insurance on a comparison site or other sites, is how much the deposit is and it may work out about the same to say with your insurance you had just year

At this rate, I reckon we could arrive at page 3 with fruitless & obvious advice on car insurance and how to get a reasonable quotation 🤣

only trying to help 😞

Lol  thought I was bad with foam lagging on wall corners and on the wine racking when we had the garage.

I'm not falling for that one @StephenFord you've had more than enough "commission" with the Maypole saga, must think I was born yesterday .........😉

Hi.

Please feel free to give us a try for insurance if you wish.

Regards,

Dan.

Stephen even does a special parking aid for the Puma. He's not just a Maypole man 🤣

Presumably that's to safeguard the wine which is far more important than the car?😀

Surprised I've never seen the tennis ball trick before! 😮

As mentioned earlier though, the problem nowadays is more width than length!  No end of wing mirrors get taken out by garage door surrounds.

Another one for insurance claims is damage caused by things dropping from the garage loft space, or by dragging bikes and ladders past.  A few years ago, it was a little cheaper for me to put driveway than garage on insurance.  Haven't tried it recently though

1st saw it in 1972 when my Uncle did it in his garage LOL

The main frame of the racking was built around an old flat pack wardrobe which fitted almost perfectly width, depth and  height without any cutting. I put the pipe lagging on the front as the supports which were the top and bottom panel of the wardrobe just touched the front bumper of the car. A nice easy roll up to them and you knew the door would just close with about 20mm to spare.

it's always nice to see when an OP is happy with the help and feedback to their question. I hope @golfpar4 has got his insurance sorted by now, since he's not posted anything further 😧

Just under three weeks to go to my insurance renewal and a comparison website has sent me various quotes for my 2021 Fiesta Trend Turbo. (I'm 77, only one claim in 59 years and that was nine years ago when I hit a deer.) Lowest was £305.61 from flow (who they?), then £357.30 from AA and £381.70 from LV=. Yet to hear from Ford Insure, who charged me £365 last year.

Ironically we have Flow insurance on my wife's focus and, believe it or not, it's a 'budget' trading name for LV!!!

As with most of us "ahem" oldies few check what they are being charged, unless internet savvy and thats what they bank on. The obscure insurance companies are genarally offshoots of the major players and if you read the "docs" when they come are usually offshore based "Gibraltar" as with most now. As soon as i was road legal i have NEVER taken the first quote given, my mindset is that everybody is trying to rip you off.
