Remap 1.0 100 bhp ecoboost?

Featured Replies

Ive read a few posts on here that the 100 bhp can be `upped` to 125 bhp in the original software? how can it be done, and what sort of price?

I’m guessing you’ve got the 5 speed gearbox? In which case I wouldn’t recommend it. It’s already pushing it’s design limits. Remapped cars with the 5 speed and even high power fiestas with the 5 speed often have syncro issues.

Thank you. yes it has the 5 speed box. Didnt realise that manual boxes have design limits (i know autos do).

Cant seem to edit!

@alexp999 - is that why the 125 bhp models only have 170nm (and 200nm overboost, guessing in 3rd or above for overtaking)? Tbh thats all i would prefer as 100 is a little lethargic 😞

I was thinking of doing it myself and I heard its usually fine if you dont push 1st and 2nd gear too hard

Superchips Bluefin, which is a popular choice, gets you around 150bhp/245Nm of torque and is on offer for around £260 at present, I believe.

There have been lots of threads on here about gearbox problems even on standard ecoboosts with the 5 speed box (particularly 140s) as Alex mentions.

Had blue fin on my focus 100hp for 5+ years and 60k miles. No issues.

Bluefin is reliable, providing your engine is.

Make sure it's serviced regularly with the correct oil. It's also advised to change the spark plugs every two years when you are at stage 1.

The gearbox is the main issue, the 140PS suffered with this more, if you are pushing 150PS try not to hammer 1st and 2nd gear

Do you think its better to install the map yourself with the powergate unit or have one of their guys come out and do it for you. The mobile instillation doesnt cost any extra so its cheaper but I assume it would make it harder to take the map off if you need to without the unit.

The only reason you would ever need the bluefin or powergate unit is if you plan to take it off.

If not just get them to come out and flash, as you say, it's cheaper

I suppose, but if I cant take it off I might leave it a bit. Still have warrenty on the engine and gearbox

Thank you all - ive contacted pumaspeed about the oem 125 bhp map they do, its a good price i think £250. However, being on the south coast makes it a little challenging to find a dealer!

There's hardly any difference, below 4,000RPM between the 100 and the 125, I know, I've owned both

Superchips will give you 157 with mobile installation for about £30 more

Yes, pretty much the same with the 140 also. If you look at the "before" power curves published by Superchips and others, they all look pretty similar up to the 4,000 mark.

It's torque that engine needs and the Superchips map gives you a healthy boost

Just a shame the 5 speed was never designed for torque.

It's rated for 170Nm, obviously there is some design tolerance built in, but the 140PS Fiesta can have syncro issues on the factory map (210Nm peak iirc?) and third parties often lift the torque limits in low gears which are there to protect the drivetrain.

If your serious into having more BHP but want warning bout the gearbox, sure, you may of already seen this yt video but listen for the issues she talks about on the gearbox and what she had done to what was a brand new Fiesta.....

Yeah it kinda feels like the engine is bottlenecked by the gearbox lol. Now I'm thinking if you could just map it and if the ib5 breaks to just replace with the 6 speed haha.

Thread on just that for the Fiesta:

Why didn't you just get the 125 or 140 in the first place? Never ceases to amaze me that people buy a car and then complain it isn't quick enough lol.
