Yes. The OP has at least 2 threads running on more of less the same topic and we've touched on that on the "other one".

Rough Fiesta equivalents from Toyota/Honda are the Yaris which is pretty near, and Jazz which is more an MPV. Both only available in UK now as 2 pedal hybrids though, which not everyone wants in a small car.

Not much choice of other Japanese small hatches now - Nissan Micra seems to have disappeared from their website  (to be replaced by an EV sharing a platform with the Renault 5 EV, I believe), Suzuki Swift and Mazda 2 still hanging on, plus Koreans -  Hyundai i20, etc.

What, no rear view mirror? 😂

Thanks. Really looking for brand new as I qualify for Privilege deals and in lucky position of not needing to finance a deal unless a 0% deal is an option. I generally do low miles locally.

Privilege is really worth it now. 1.75%

Im able to get privilege too and the deals you used to get evaporated after COVID and the chip shortage.

I know the op is buying cash but not that long ago PCP on focus was £199 deposit and £199 a month . Now £1495 deposit and £345 a month.

Micra was absolute rubbish. We had them in Australia, did not sell that well, & Nissan Australia eventually pulled them. Corolla, Mazda2 or anything Hyundai.Corolla is pretty well bulletproof, the things go for years. They are a massive seller here for very good reason.Fiesta was a dismal, failure here, they are great little cars, but with all the Powershift problems(& there was many, many), there is/was a class action against Ford. Why many Brits insist on purchasing Fiestas is beyond me.

Hi

I used to have a 2014 Fiesta Titanium X 125 Ecoboost. Loved it but didn't like the fuel economy (24mpg in the end). I swapped it for a 2018 Renault Clio Signature Nav dci 110. Clio is a lot better than Fiesta on all accounts (50mpg at the moment). Fiesta used to cost me £60 a fortnight to fill up, now i'm paying £60 per MONTH on fuel.

At the moment Renault are offering 0% finance on new Clio's on a PCP over 2 years but there is a facelift coming soon but which will be hybrid only I think? not sure. The RS line looks really nice especially in Iron Blue which is what colour mine is.

Hope this helps.

So they must be selling well.

How is life over on the darkside? Is the Renault forum busy? 🤣

How did you manage to get such poor fuel economy? I have the same car and can get 45mpg city and 65mpg on the highway all day long.

Over here people don't generally do the miles to need or want an automatic in small cars.  Very few auto Fiesta's are sold compared to manuals.

I'm also confused by the 'loyalty' that Brit's show to Ford though.  30+ years ago we started getting imported cars that were better built, better specced, better to drive and, in most cases, didn't rust away if you left them near a puddle overnight.  Yet older people's reluctance to change meant they kept buying Fords, so Ford didn't have to make any effort to improve, and now the kids of those people buy Fords because that's what their parents drove! 🤔

It's not just, 'Ford'. Mum has been with BT (formerly GPO) all her life, as well as the same electricity company. (I chop & change with the cheapest at the time). The older generation, which ironically I am now in (!) are usually fairly loyal and companies take advantage of that.

I'm not sure if will continue in the future though, looking at the prospective Ford line up. Even if you buy into the EV idea (and I get the feeling some people don't😀), other manufacturers forthcoming electric offerings look a lot more interesting than rehashed VW platforms and even include small(ish) cars that might interest former Fiesta owners.

On the Fiesta, I guess over the years the availability of many trim and engine options has meant there's something for most small car buyers. They've generally been pretty good to drive, with the odd exception.

Large dealer network** and some slick marketing are also factors - and Ford were big players in the fleet market and (at least in my time) their fleet sales operation was pretty impressive.

We tend to get a lot of the bad news stories on here, but many people will be oblivious to all that. I have friends and relatives who have had Fiesta after Fiesta with no problems and they don't have a clue what a cambelt is.

Even my own experience has been fine - the 5 we've had previously never needed anything other than normal servicing - still fingers crossed on current number 6 which will obviously be the last!

** and they're not all big and bad. I know of two family owned dealerships that have had a loyal local customer base for years. They've looked after the customers - the customers kept coming back, so probably more loyalty to the dealers than Ford in those cases.

Hi

I don't know I haven't joined the Renault forum yet.

Hi

I think the wet belt was starting to go in the end. When I first got the Fiesta it was only doing 37mpg anyway.

A lot of my driving is stop/start and didn't really get up to operating temperature.

Again, stay away from anything Renault! Do yourself a favour & get a Toyota or anything Japanese.Stress free motoring in the long run.I would not touch anything Euro.

Apart from the Fiesta you own 🤣

Most Toyota and Honda are Hybrid and Automatic. Yes they maybe more reliable but in my opinion don't look very nice or sporty (Honda Jazz Advance Sport is probably the only exception but costs £28K!!!!!!).

I wouldn't pay that amount for a supermini. I bought my Clio last October and with my trade in only cost me £3.5K and the car was bought outright.

Hope this helps

Absolutely! If it fails it goes! Would never purchase one again. It may well be live on ‘borrowed’ time! I would more than likely go down the Corolla Hybrid path.

Renault make about 1,500,000 cars/year (1.5 Million), you telling us that everyone of them is unreliable?

The most unreliable car I ever owned was a Mercedes C240, had to be rescued 5 times on the back of a breakdown lorry. However, they make 2,000 000 cars/year. (2 Million) I'm not arrogant enough to advise anyone not to buy one just because of my single experience.

All cars of any make have the ability to beak down. Absolutely no reason to write off a whole brand...

The sales of them here in Australia are dismal, nobody wants them.I am surprised that Renault,Peugeot & Citroen are still here to be frank. They sell in very minuscule numbers.Japanese & Korean vehicles sell in huge numbers for very good reason, their reliability & resale value.MB? Yes, they can be a pain to own to.

I suppose it's nothing to do with the fact that they are half the geographical distance to Australia, than European cars 🤣

No, not really, they use to sell in reasonable numbers years ago, but Japanese cars are generally much much more reliable, parts are a lot cheaper than Euro stuff. If they were that good why are they not selling in good numbers? We have Nissan UK exporting Qashqai to Australia & they have always sold really well.Honda UK use to supply Australia with the Civic until Honda switched manufacturing of them to Japan & they sold very well.People just do not want them. There is a small following, but that is about it.
