2005 Fiesta ABS no communication

Featured Replies

Hello, i am cheating a little, i say 2005 fiesta but its actually a 2005 Mazda 2 which is literally a ford fiesta in a mazda body shell. i hope this is okay to ask here as ive already got a account.

So the problem i am getting is that the abs stopped working after being parked for 2 weeks and the battery disconnected to save the battery from going flat as it has been 0c recently. the abs light is on and so is the handbrake light even trhough the handbrake itself is off. all the fluid is topped up too

so the Codes i am getting is;

PCM - U0121-E0 lost cumminication with ABS module

PCM - P1000 onboard diagnostic systems readiness not complete

PCM - U0121-C lost communication with abs module

IC - U1900 CAN communications bus fault - receive error

so these are all of the codes i got from using forscam with a ford elm adaptor. i tried to clear them and it will not clear, even driving the car they will not clear. I checked all of the fises to do with the ABS system too. is there another fuse i need to check that related to the ''IC-  1900'' code? i dont suppose its a ground problem? someone told me its quite common but then agai nthere is no cheap and easy fix from what i can see?

thank you in advanced and im sorry for it being an 'ew' madza

The 'Handbrake' warning light has two functions, one is for the handbrake the other is an indication of brake failure !!

All of the "U" codes are not in themselves a fault. They are only to advise that the Canbus system is having communication problems with certain modules, very often seen when the battery state of charge is poor or when the battery has gone flat.

The P1000 DTC is again only indicating that the self test was not completed, probably because of communication problems on the Canbus.

I'd expect to see some codes directly related to the ABS system if that has in fact failed in someway.

FORScan should work on your Mazda, so this could be a case that you ELM327 adapter is not getting all of the codes which is an issue with many of the poorer cables. I'd recommend getting the new FORScan approved vLinker FS cable which is designed especially for the newer versions of FORScan.

Have you checked the battery voltage with a multimeter ? Often this type of problem occurs when the SOC of the battery is low.

Hi, the ABS does not show up at all in the list of computers. i do also have a bluetoothh ELM and that gives me the same result with various apps and programmes

i remeber that the fault IC - U1900 CAN communications bus fault - receive error in focus's were to do with the bad solder joints in the dashboard? would the mazda (Fiesta) have the same problem and is that stoppimg it communicating with the ABS? the car starts fine and all

Then you need a new cable. The one that you are using is not reading both the Medium Speed and the High Speed Canbus.

Which is fine, but for some reason you are not reading all the modules on the Mazda. That only leaves the following:

  • FORScan is not compatible with your car.
  • The vehicle profile that FORScan stored the first time connected to the Mazda did not read the missing module for some reason and therefore will now not look for it.
  • The cable you are using is not compatible with FORScan and the Mazda.

But since the abs light and the handbrake light have come on the pcm is telling me that it has lost communication with the abs as well as it not showing in the list of modules. I'll attach pictures
