Audio upgrade on an econetic - guidance required please.

Featured Replies

Hi there,

we recently purchased a 2012 econetic, and we hoped we would be able to change the stereo to a pioneer double din we have.  Originally this seems quite simple, however it seems the car may be an anomaly.

the info screen we have is blue, and has information like tyre pressure check, and the eco sense, etc.  it doesn’t have Bluetooth.  On the steering wheel there is an m button not an ok button.

connects 2 have said that basically the wiring they do will cause us to lose the vehicle settings from that screen, and potentilla fail an mot if there is a tyre -reassure issue as the warning will be on the screen.  However I can’t believe that no one has ever changed the stereo in this particular spec of fiesta.  So if anyone can point us in the correct direction for the fascia and wiring harness that would be great.

I have pictures but it won’t let me attach them

Hi Callum,

Don't know the answer on this one, but Econetic could be had in a variety of trim levels - e.g. Edge, Style, Zetec, Titanium - which will have had different levels of equipment/audio as standard.

It would probably help if you could confirm exactly what spec you have.

How will I find that out please?

If you've recently bought it, surely you have some paperwork confirming what you bought? V5C registration document might indicate.

Btw, is it a 12 or 62 plate. From the mention of the blue displays, it sounds if you have an early facelift (Mk 7.5) rather than the original Mk 7 which had red displays.

Link below (if it works!) is to a Mk 7.5 brochure which shows the different trim levels. Original Mk 7 line up was similar.

Brilliant§t, so it appears we have a zetec model.
so would the 2013 onwards kit work?

but hopefully someone who does will be along soon.

As no-one has jumped in yet, I recalled a couple of previous threads on Mk 7/Mk 7.5 upgrades which might give you some clues:

https://www.fordownersclub.com/forums/topic/126946-fiesta-mk7-08-12-sony-stereo-upgrade/

https://www.fordownersclub.com/forums/topic/147696-fiesta-mk75-aftermarket-head-unitradio/

Last time I needed to upgrade an audio was about 1987 (I think) so unfortunately I can't offer any more help, personally.
