2019 Fiesta 1.0 Ecoboost Service Cost

Featured Replies

Hi All,

My 2019 Mk8 Fiesta Ecoboost 1.0 125 is due for its big service in July

I have 18,000 on clock at moment, I estimate will be around 20,000 by July, following my UK Hols down south

I believe a lot of Filters are replaced.

Any idea what I should expect to pay for this service please?

Cheers

4th year service - oil, oil filter, air filter, pollen filter, spark plugs.

Approx cost at main dealer - £400

Optional extras:

Brake fluid change - £70

MOT - £55

There isn't one on the petrol's.  That's for the diesel service.

AHH right, well I guess the dealer probably got mixed up when he said Fuel filter, thanks for clearing that up Tom.

He quoted me £380 so looks like that's standard price then.

I've looked at those secret garage online quoters, but they don't say what they fully include, so a bit smoke n mirrors.

Cheers for your help 👍

I'm having my oil and filter changed yearly.

My Ford dealer is doing it for £90.

How can they justify £400 for a few more filters and spark plugs?

You can change the pollen filter yourself can't you?

Have you seen the price of genuine Ford Iridium spark plugs ?

That's for all four, surely???

just for one 🤣 Just as well many engines now are 3 cylinder. Just think of the poor Americans with their 8 cylinder trucks

Just looked at the current price for my 1975 car and they are £2.34 each... but I don't suppose there's any iridium in them!

so they would cost a little under £21 each at today's prices.

At that price I will.

I too was shocked at the price quoted for a major 4 year service from a dealer. £400! So last year I bought (Millers) oil and Mahle filters from Opie oils and had a local mechanic change them for me. I can't remember how much they were as I bought stuff for our other car at same time. The mechanic did not change the plugs, but took one out and said they were perfectly OK. I was shocked at the price of new ones as last ones I bought were probably a tenner for 4 (Champion copper Core ones back then). Platinum and Iridium metals are expensive!

The air filter is very simple to change, it's just 2 clips, no tools required. As for the pollen filter, I'm not sure, but there are a few YouTube vids showing you haw to do it.

The car does have a fuel filter, but it is an in-line one by the fuel tank. I don't think it has a schedule for changing it so probably last the lifetime of the car. Diesels have a spin-on (can) type in the engine bay which does need changing frequently.

Back when I was fixing the Focus I was looking to treat it with new plugs. Looking on eBay for the best price a set of used ones came up in my search. They looked ok so I bought them.

The owner had just removed them from his much newer car and realised they were in great condition.

Call me a tight bottom but he only wanted £7.05 Inc postage. Fitted them and are working just fine 😀

Thanks Jim,

It does seem very expensive for a little car like the Fiesta.

I'm sure I would figure out replacing of the Pollen filter, looks really simple on YouTube, also as you say the air filter.

I don't think I would attempt an oil change, or the fuel filter you mentioned.

I would love to know what else they do on a 4 year service to be honest.

I have my car on an extended warranty so the service has to be done by a firm, although it doesn't have to be a main dealer, as long as they are vat registered, but also regardless having it done by a firm ensures a full service history.

I have good relationship with my dealer, but nevertheless need to ensure he's not taking advantage and ripping me off at the same time.

I don't blame you Ray

Who would ever have thought we'd live in an era where prices were so steep we'd have to resort to buying used spark plugs because of price 😉

Thanks @TomsFocus

That's really helpful

I can see where at least some of that £400 goes.

Serviced our 1.0L Fiesta 2018 and was fairly simple, especially as I’d never done one before.

Biggest PITA was getting my arm up into the engines nether-regions and trying to get the oil filter off after 18 months! I ended up doing an ECP job and got Bosch Iridium plugs for around £8 a pop which are working well. EBay is great for genuine oil and filters though.

Mine is on extended warranty so has to be serviced by an official service centre vat registered also I want to keep full documented service history too, otherwise I may have had a dabble 😊

I'm retired engineer so guess I could have picked most of it up, but many years of getting grease and printing ink all the way up my arms has put me off all that messing these days 😞
