Internal air not blowing

Featured Replies

I’ve just noticed an issue with the heating controls of my 2010 Fiesta.  I was dropping my son to sports this evening in the rain but I noticed that it didn’t matter what speed the air was blowing or on what temperature, that the windows remained misted and it was very hard to see out the side windows.

When we got home I checked the windscreen air and noticed that although the blower fan was audibly working at the various speeds and the temperature was working that very little air was blowing from the various outlets, thus explaining why the car was so misty.

But why ?  I can feel a loose plastic ‘bottle’ for lack of a better term behind the passenger footwell covering, so has something come loose or is the internal cabin filter clogged and neading replacement ?? Once again both the fan and cold/hot works, just very little airs blows from the outlets.

Help.

When was the last time the cabin pollen air filter was replaced?

No idea.  I’ve only just got the car recently.  There is certainly no record on the service sheets that it was done so it’s likely they are clogged.  Was going to bring it to First Stop as they appear to check that as part of the service.

It's not too hard to check yourself, remove the center console plastic on the driver's side, then near the pedal box there will be a cover with a (I do believe T25 screw but could be slightly wrong on the size) remove the cover, pull the filter out and you will be able to check and potentially replace, I'll put a link to a YouTube video in the next reply

@Neb_engineer Wonderful.  Bought a new filter today and just fitted it exactly as video instructed.  Blower air now working full speed as it should.  Am so happy.  Thank you.

Probably hasn’t been changed in years.  See old (right) and new (left).

YouTube shows that Ford had the potential to make a pollen filter change easy, maybe they just couldn't be *rsed for the Focus 😂

Unfortunately its one of those things that just get overlooked by most garages (they either assume it hasn't got one or can't be bothered to do them) but glad its all sorted for you
