1.0 ecoboost increased lag/reduction in power

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have a query regarding my fiesta red edition.

A couple of nights ago whilst going up a hill I noticed that halfway up the hill the car seemed to pull a bit less at the same throttle position.

Since then I have noticed there seems to be what feels like increased turbo lag and a slight reduction in power. It is not drastic and it still pulls, just doesn’t shove me into the seat quite as i remember.

This could be entirely placebo but even a few days on I feel it isn’t 100%

The engine idles and revs fine and doesn’t have and misfire type symptoms. I plugged the car into my code reader and no codes are present.

Does anyone have any advice or similar experiences to this?

Thanks in advance!

What year ?

What mileage ?

Has it had or does it need the wet belt changed ?

Have you used FORScan to check all Ford specific DTC's ?

Your profile relates to a different car, does it need updated ?

2016 with 42k. Not currently had the belt changed but I am aiming to do it this year sometime as I would like to do it sooner rather than later.

I have had it since 18k miles and do oil changes every 6k.

I have not used FORScan but I am going to invest in a dongle for my laptop as I am planning on doing the cruise control retrofit soon so I will need it for that.

Damn it has been a while! I will update my profile now!

You will need to use the vLinker FS cable if you want to make programming changes.

Nice one thanks, I will get one of those on order. I will plug it in tomorrow and see if there are any specific codes that aren’t throwing an engine light

An update to this.

Received the adapter today and got forscan setup on my laptop.  Showing 0 fault codes at all so it is nothing obvious it seems which makes sense being that it still pulls fairly well just feels slightly laggier than usual.

Just a bit strange really, is there any common faults like this. I am going to try and check all of the boost pipes/vacuum lines incase there is a small leak from anywhere

That seems to good to be true, there is nearly always a few 'U' codes and an odd random code. You have taken FORScan out of demo mode and ticked the box for diagnostics ?

@Tizer might be able to suggest some live data to check.

From your description of the symptoms It is difficult to suggest what to check.

I would change the Spark Plugs and Air Cleaner if it is dirty and check the Mode 6 / Key On Engine Running tests in FORScan. The Mode 6 test results will not mean much other than it should show if there has been many misfires, maybe not enough of them to light up the Check Engine light.

I assume that your Clutch is not slipping.

As Tizer says, change the plugs, for genuine plugs ASAP
