Catcus grey - thoughts?

Featured Replies

Long time Ford Fiesta owner and will be sad to leave that group but am waiting on delivery of a 24 plate new model Puma. I have the GIRLIEST of questions. What are people's thoughts on the Catcus grey? I am in 2 minds and need to make a final decision between this and the white. It's definitely different, green tinge to the grey.

Plain White or Primer Grey?  I'm sure they come in prettier colours than both of those!

Grey won't show up dust and pollen as much as white.  But I'm struggling to choose either from an aesthetic point.  Not that it matters what any of us think, it's your car!

Plain white is the other colour I'm looking at. Colour options are quite disappointing in the new model. Only 6 choices and the Catcus Grey is the only unusual one. I'm just split down middle on it, I don't hate it but not sure I love it either!

That's just a fancy name for Battleship Grey, or Primer.

At least White is just that, and it looks good when clean. 😀

You're right.  No wonder I see so many in Desert Island blue, that's the only colour with any impact on the standard models now.

There's a nice red one near me but I'm not sure which red it is.  Definitely not 'Fantastic' red, which doesn't live up to it's name!  But also doesn't look as pink as Ruby Red does on screen.

I think it depends how long you intend to keep the car as well.  If it's just a short term lease then Cactus Grey will probably still look modern.  But I think it'll look very dated by about 5 years old.  So maybe white is the better option in that case.  If you do for white, I'd recommend some paint protection to make it easier to keep clean.  You'll have to keep claying tar spots off of the lower half otherwise.

Tar remover is much easier than claying. 😉

It would also maybe help if I learned to spell Cactus 😳

Much easier just to stick with whyte 🤣

White is for wedding cars, grey is for prison uniforms. Surely there must be something more exciting on the colour palette being offered?

A quick look at the configurations shows why the blue Tom mentions is so popular:

That blue is actually lovely! I hope the OP realises what a big responsibility this choice is. I haven't bought a 'new' car for over 30 years, so the likes of me buying used, love to see a car in a decent colour. So think of the 2nd, 3rd or even 4th owner of your new shiny car LOL

My new Puma is Desert Island Blue. A number of people have mentioned what a lovely colour it is in passing. Being so popular no doubt Ford will drop it from the colour selection soon.

I hadn't seen the prices before though.  I don't think the grey is worth £800 more than the white.  Even for DIB I'm struggling with that cost.  Think I 'only' had to pay £250 for Magnetic Grey on the Focus 3 years ago, and that was at least deep metallic.

Have you not seen the price of Royal Navy paint ? 🤣

It was £675 (RRP) on the last Fiesta price list. (And it's not magnetic - put a piece of steel on the side of the car and it just falls off!😀)

As part of the Vignale "package", didn't it have a different price structure where the "cheaper" colours were free and the "expensive" colours cheaper?

Ah, you might be right there.  I do vaguely remember something like that now.

Still seems like an awful lot of money when they can offer at least one free colour.

As I've said before, I didn't really want Magnetic.  I chose Chrome Blue, but it was unavailable at the time.

My other Mk4 was Diffused Silver which I think was an 'exclusive' colour at the time.  Don't understand where all the interesting colours have gone now.

There REALLY isn't in the new model, a very disappointing choice on new model. I've seen the blue and it is fab, I'm just not a lover of blue cars

I have Magnetic on my current Fiesta and I love it. Hides the dirt well too! They dropped this choice from the new  Puma

A good Irish girl would suit a decent shade of green 🤣

Born in Swindon so one could argue the green still suits ☘️🤢. I just think the Cactus Grey is a little different. But the more I look at it, the more I think it looks a bit Mint Green. I wish I could upload more pictures of the one in the dealership but they are all over the size limit.

Apparently the code is the same for what was fighter jet grey in the USA. I love white cars but so many on road I wanted something a little different https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/forum/threads/cactus-gray-fighter-jet-gray.534/

You could always get white and have the roof 'wrapped' is a colour of your choice. It would be more than just a little different, it would be unique 😀

Great idea! I had a previous car done with a 'carbon' roof wrap, to my taste and unique...

Also fools people into thinking they paid £1000 for the panoramic roof option!

You can screenshot your own pictures and then upload the screenshots to get around the size limit on here.
