Sync 3 maps 12

Featured Replies

I’m having issues with the Ford.Co.Uk web page ( they are reviewing)

does anyone have Maps 12 on USB they can send me? ( is this possible?)

Do I just need to wait for Ford to pull finger out!,

Hi everyone

I just purchased a 2021 Titanium Edition a couple of weeks ago from a  Ford main dealer who updated the SYNC3, but I was unsure if they had done the maps.

Strangely after just a week when checking my car on the MyFord page, it said it needed a SYNC3 update (3.4.23188) which I duly downloaded via laptop and USB. The successful update message appeared on the screen after about 25 minutes driving with the USB stick plugged in.  The next time I locked the car then unlocked it after a few minutes which according to the instructions I thought would save the update.

So far so good.

But now for Navigation Updates my page says (in a greyed out block) "before updating maps please confirm your SYNC is up to date".  My car is always parked in strong range of my house Wi-Fi signal which I checked and the car is connected. And the auto updates is turned on. So I assume it automatically confirms the update has been done.

I don't understand this - can anyone assist me please?

From what I've read on this forum you have to upload a log file or something to the Ford server to get your update registered. It seems it doesn't do it automatically.

Hopefully one of the experts will be along soon to clarify.

Thanks for your reply.  Yes, it says on Ford's USB Update Instructions Guide to "upload the logfile using your PC".  But when I visit my cars page on the site, there's no "Confirm Your Update" button or link.

I might try and change my browser to see if it shows a button or link.

In the meantime .... if anyone can help it would be great.

Thanks.    Vivian

That's because Ford's site is very poorly designed.

Just go through the whole process again as if you were wanting to download the update. At the very last stage just before you click to download the new update, there is a link which says something like "confirm update was successful" You then click on that line and it will ask you to upload the log file.

Here is the SYNC3 USB Update Guide as supplied by Ford

Ah, that's brilliant Unofix.  Very many thanks!  I'll try that tomorrow and report back.  Cheers.

Should have also warned you to make sure that you are logged out, when you go to the check for updates, and just enter your cars VIN.

There is another fault on the site. If you are logged in, and try and up load the log file then you just get a never ending "waiting" and the file is not up loaded.

Hello,

I have a similar issue. I uploaded the confirmation log file to the Ford website on Sunday, having upgraded to Sync 3.4. Since then, whenever I check for updates to confirm this, I get a message

"We encountered an error. Please try again later".

I would like to go on to update Maps, but I can't get past this stage. Do you have any further advice, @unofix? Much appreciated.

The problem has been reported to Ford UK who say that they are aware of the issue and are working to rectify it as soon as possible.

I had an email from Ford advising to allow 7 w/d for resolution. Upto the usual Ford standard today is day eight and still unable to get maps 12.

Download speeds from Ford site are terrible! 6 days to download over wifi to USB

gave up,

They must have added a turbo to the website, it's normally much slower than that 🤣

I have given up. Anyway, I've found Google Maps better than Ford Navigation TBH.

The problem is, when I connect my phone to the car by USB cable, Google Maps doesn't display as much on the car's screen as on the phone.  As a couple of examples, real time mph isn't there, not are speed camera warnings and other things too.  In other words it's not an exact replica of what the phone provides.  I find that strange, but I guess Google Maps compatibility is a subject for another thread.

You aren't unzipping all the files are you?

  • Author

I thought they were unzipped, I put them through the unzip-per

Can you tell by looking at the files in the sync folder if any have missed?

You should have 1 folder called Sync My Ride with the zipped files inside. Outside the folder will be one or sometimes two files. Do not unzip the contents of the folder.

So nothing gets unzipped?

download from Ford and transfer direct to USB?

I thought the sync my ride folder had to be unzipped?

Error when unzipping ford download file.

In the root directory there should be: One Folder, and two files (but you might not have the "DONTINDX" file).

In the SyncMyRide folder there will be 18 files before the install and there will be an extra log file once installation is finished.
