you need a runtime pack of Microsoft gibberish you install first (usually in the same download location)

as for more exciting stuff - the cable (if you got the Vgate 18V feps one) will stand you in good stead to use Forscan - a more complex tool - free for basic stuff - but playing with keys you need to buy windows system big boy version - still cheap but only a single year license these days....

Throbber - I'm late to this party!
I'm in Stirling. My last mk 2.5 Titanium came without Bluetooth, so I retrofitted.

There was definitely a lot more cables with some convoluted routing compared to my mk2 😮
Anyhow - bottom line. I bought the USB/aux panel from inside console cubby box (didn't get round to installing it, my car had all the wiring under the dash for it, but I'm pretty sure there was a small jumper loom needed too)

If it's any use to you, you can have it for the postage. (I bought it on ebay for £25, but it's lying here doing nothing. Current mk3 already has one)

drop me a pm .

Tommy

cheers for offering mate ok at the moment! 🙂

Just been trying to do the config.

I can access the car module via FORScan but get the following error for EML

Have tried Baud rate at 36000 too.

..have you got the basic set up set to a focus ? pick the wrong one and its always mental

did you do the adapter set up bit at the bottom and always without this tool in the way - update its brain using the latest firmware first

updated the adapter firmware to the latest version - 2.3.02

did the adapter set up part also but still the same message....

well either the runtime pack isn't there... or some silly little set up issue needs fixing - add the run time bundle - then reinstall ELM config - and then check in windows device manager with just the cable in the laptop

don't forget every month Microsoft does its utmost to destroy windows - rebuilding / reconfiguring things wrong, adding something no one ever wanted and removing vital stuff you definitely did

I don't think the cable is too clever for that software - but might as well try the free version of Forscan
