Mk2 - Rear Lower Suspension Arms - Incorrect Part?

Featured Replies

Hi I’ve just fitted rear lower suspension arms on my Mk2 Focus but when I’ve gone to fit the rear droplinks they are at a weird angle and don’t seem to be fitting / sitting correctly.

When I compare the old and new parts them appear different.

1.) Larger hole at the top which the droplink goes through to be secured at the top.

2.) And different underside packaging clearance for the droplink.

Would you agree I’ve got the wrong arms?

The lower arms are supposed to be a match with FINIS 1548460 which the catalogues confirm are the correct ones for my vehicle.

Not sure I have the right part.

Looking for any help / advice / suggestions please

Just wanted to follow up to see if anyone had any ideas? Or is it just me and everything is OK? Thanks.

Honestly I think they are the wrong arms.  But I'm not sure it actually matters.  (Seem to remember the parts catalogue wasn't conclusive on this car either?)

As long as the length between the two bolts is exactly the same then that won't affect the rear toe or camber.

The question is whether the ARB & droplinks are under constant tension or not.  The droplinks should only be only be under vertical tension, they won't last long with any sideways tension.  Also the ride may be rougher if the ARB is constantly being tensioned by the droplinks pulling on it.

what do they look like with the car sat on its wheels ?

mine look like this

This would concern me.

If the hole is larger, does that mean the bolt is able to move about ?

@unofix well I guess it could as the holes is much larger in diameter than the thread of the bolt. But when clamped with the nut it may not move hard to tell. Probably hear it knocking around when I drive it but hopefully not.

@ferretfloozy I’ll get a picture of it on wheels and post and see if it looks similar to yours.

Just had a new Febi arm (47014 / 47013) to double check and it confirms the arm is wrong.

Comparing the original and replacement arm kicks up more to allow more space for the droplink.

my arm definitly looks different than yours

I guess you just love your work so much you like to do it twice 🤣

Someone owes you a couple of new parts at the very least !!

Yes I’m following up and should be getting a refund!

Very frustrating but oh well at least I’ve solved it I guess.
