Incorrect reading on Temp gauge

Featured Replies

I have a 2006 fiesta. Plugged in forscan and the temp was 95° as id expect, however the gauge was only reading about 75°, it runs ok.

What could be the fault ?

Welcome!
I'm unsure how the temperature gauge can be read to that degree of accuracy and even if it is numbered (?)
IMHO, the gauge is just an indicator to avoid overheating/see the temperature is within a "normal" range so if Forscan is giving 95 after running for a while then I'd stop worrying and just look for significant changes (especially high ones)?
Has it always been at that position on the gauge which would need to be recalibrated (have no idea how)  to match the Forscan temperature after actually getting a reading from an independent known accurate temperature probe.
