supercabbage
I've just passed my test (finally!) and I'm looking at buying a used Fiesta from around 2000/2001. I've decided on a 1.25 or 1.35. I'm wondering if there's anything in particular I should look for while trying to find one, are there any particular components which fail more than others? I'm not a car enthusiast so any information I could get would be brilliant! Many thanks.

supercabbage
Ehhhh the autotrader ad must have been wrong, suffice to say I'm more of an IT guy. Either way, 1.25 or 1.3 it is :).
Stemh
2000/2001 would be a mk5. They come in 1.25/1.4/1.6 zetec se, or 1.3 endura e engine. The zetec se engines are the better of the 2, being quicker, a lot quieter, but they do cost more on insurance. The endura e engine isnt as good of an engine really, they are slow and most of the time have loud tappets, these can be adjusted, but doesnt usually last long before they are loud again. But, for a first car, they are the cheapest option! The main thing id be looking for is rust, mainly on rear arches.
