Rear Wiper Problems

Hi all,

I have a problem with my rear wiper in that it freezes half way and does not park when I use it to do a single wipe.

The spray function it runs fine until it comes to park.

I've looked online and everywhere suggests replacing R18/19 on checking this mine was a dual relay switch for the two which I changed but the problem still persists.

I've had a look at the wire around the wiper motor on the back which all appears fine.

Any ideas?

Many thanks

Matt

Check the wires in the rubber conduit between the roof and hatch for breaks or suspect the wiper motor for failure.

sounds like wiper motor mate but as Stoney says check the wires.

The wiring loom to the hatch takes a lot of punishment with repeated flexing when cold or when the insulation goes brittle over time.

It's a common occurrence on the MK1 Focus and has caused many to replace perfectly good wiper motors, boot locks and brake lights (myself included).

I have also heard it happen on Fiesta/Mondeo etc.

Had the same on the BMW I got wires just snapped for the boot lock , and there within the rubber seal which you might have to cut to check an fix.

Thanks for all your help.

Wiring is probably beyond my expertise but I will certainly have a look anyway just so I can say whether it is definately this.

Thanks again

Matt
