1.6 Tdci 110 [Dpf] Remaps?

I always save the original maps so can reflash if anything does happen. If I bricked the ECU completely it's still not the end of the world, can be sent off to the mapper to fix, but obviously that is inconvenient.

Must admit I haven't heard of that particular tool, so can't really comment on it lol.

aye you have ;) same folk that makes your OBD device, it just allows you to use a wee jig to connect directly to the EPROM / ROM, in short, if you screw it up, this will allow you to flash bit for bit the whole ECU and repair it.

Ah I see, looks like a good bit of kit, don't think I'll bother with it though lol.

On another note, the Galletto doesn't seem to read the Focus for some reason. :( Tried both ECU drivers, and tried 2 different laptops and always get this message after a long while trying to read. Not sure why it won't connect tbh.

I read something once about the connection speed, in a similar way to accessing the GEM module you need it running at a certain speed, if not then it might not work. Its one of the reasons I was looking in to that other piece of gear, there isn't an issue with speeds. you need to be careful flashing as well, another side effect is it doesn't transfer correctly, if it doesn't do a checksum on it then you could be creating a brick.

I know the chap that did mine did it all through the OBD port, he has something that ive yet to be able to source but looked the business so it can be done that way.

there was also something about Chinese clones not working with v53 gelleto spec i think it had to be the older ones.

not sure I can be much use yet, its on my list of things to do but one things for sure, unless I can reflash it if (read when) I bugger it up, I wont be playing with it at all.

The mapper that alters maps for me does everything through the OBD port when people bring the cars to him as far as I know. But he usually uses the MPPS cable which is apparently better than Galletto now.

I've never had an issue like this on any other car though (PD Golfs/Bora, 306 HDis, 206 HDi, Vectra CDTi etc) which is why I'm at a loss now really lol.

I'll have to check if speed can be changed, didn't even think about that. And yeah I know the dangers of flashing maps...always make sure theres a plan B lol.

Anyone successfully connected a Galletto to a Mk2.5 1.6TDCi? Can't change the speed and not sure what else to try?

Sorted.... Bought an MPPS instead...

Though the file its saved seems huge to me, 2048kb!? Anyone know if that's the right size for these ECUs?

sounds like its removed the whole EPROM bit for bit, that's actually a good thing as it wont miss anything out, the ROM is 2MB (2048KB), though it probably doesn't use it all, perhaps only a few hundred KBs filled.~

think of it this way, I have a 1 litre glass of water 3/4 full, you want a sip, im not going to give you the 750mls on its own as it might get messy, ill give you the whole 1 Litre glass and save some hassle.

the tricky bit will be extracting the information out of it if its not in a format recognised by software.

where did you get it in the end?

The MPPS cable? On ebay, theres loads about!

I'll have to ask the mapper if that file is any good to him then. :)

I know the maps I've done before were only 512kb lol.

Turns out I'm worrying about nothing lol, apparently its fine and the right size for these! :D
