Things I Don't Like

Featured Replies

I don't like that 12 out of 30 topics on a clearly 'Non Ford related forum' are in fact specifically Ford related!

What's the problem?

Can folk not read/apprehend clear instructions? Or are they too lazy to find the correct forum to post their queries?

I think it's plain stupidity. Where's @unofix when you need him 😄

I think Unofix & Stephen must have started their own forum? Named ReFord. 😁

Back on the don't likes though... I complained about losing DaveJaVu from Freeview a few weeks ago. Yesterday I realised I've lost Quest +1 from Freeview as well, sure it was there last week. ☹️

Are you sure they haven't just changed channel numbers? I had to re-tune my equipment a few weeks ago because I noticed some channels were no longer on the currently advertised numbers. Admittedly they all still seemed to be there but at least one wouldn't record until I'd retuned.

U&Dave Ja Vu still seems to be there on channel 74 and Quest+1 0n 70.

Yeah, I retuned last night just in case. Quest+1 is now on some ridiculous number (723 iirc!) and says 'due to scheduling this channel may no longer be available in your area'.

DaveJaVu disappeared a while ago and that was confirmed as being lost from some areas online.

Interesting that you can still get both though. We must be picking up from different transmitters. I think mine is Tacolneston?

I've just retuned and found that 74 is now occupied by Yesterday+1 and U&Dave Ja Vu is nowhere to be found but Quest+1 is still on 70.

Radio Times and Wikipedia still show U&Dave Ja Vu on 74 though so looks like it's area dependant.

We get our signal from the Sandy Heath transmitter.

Today I decided to retune the TV and to my surprise U&Dave Ja Vu showed up on channel 74. I did only choose to update the channel list rather than a full auto-tune so whether that made a difference I can't say at the moment. The other retune was one of my Humax PVRs and in that case I used the 'Smart Retune' option.

I suppose the only way to be sure is to do a full retune on both of them but that would mean losing all my recording settings on the PVR.

Don't think I've heard of PVR before?

If you watch the missing channels then the best option is not to retune at all. I have lost channels early by doing that in the past. I now rarely retune at all, even when the message keeps flashing up to retune. That way I keep the channels for a few days/weeks longer. Though ultimately it just delays the inevitable.

That one threw me first time I encountered it! Personal Video Recorder (or similar) just seems to be a term for a hard disc recorder without the facility to record onto or play DVD.

i still have lot of DVDs so have a combined DVD/HDD recorder. It was hard to find one, don't know if you can still get them?

Ah, that makes sense. I haven't recorded any TV myself for years, nor have any equipment to do it. The last time was using a video cassette in a VCR! 😄

I've still got one of those too! I used to use it to copy pre-recorded video tapes onto DVD, but latterly they put a security feature on cassettes to prevent that. Don't know if it still works tbh and I haven't seen one for sale new for years now.

While we're on the subject of returning TVs etc

Can anyone enlighten me as to why this happens?

Found a channel with something I would like to watch ie Channel 78 yet when I select it, even after I've done a total retune, I get the whole "Channel not available" malarkey!

Would like to watch some good old rock videos without having to faff about with YouTube apps etc

Sorry about the rubbish pictures 😀

I find a lot of the channels at the lower end of the list either don't work at all or are timed.

Can't understand why they'd be timed though. Surely they have to pay the same for the slot as the channel is still blocked when out of use?

76 is a prime example in there...4am-6am...what is the point of that!?

Don't like that all the trades I use around the house/garden,take for ever to get back to me then age to get quote. then impossible to nail down a date for work to be done.

Likewise! I thought my luck was changing after a positive experience with the garage door man I mentioned recently.

But no, I'm looking for a couple of roofing jobs. Both started well, guys came to look at the job when promised, both said they'd email a quote, one even rang next day to explain there'd be various options in his quote. Then........zilch!

I was wondering if there was a problem with my email (though I get plenty), then I found my neighbour had asked one of them for a quote about the same time and they'd heard nothing either!

The one guy is normally good at sorting job/ price and arranging a date . All I want is shed base doing, new shed supplied and fitted, then a long wooden planter knocked up. Originally contacted him beginning of march!

A few years ago I easily would do those gardening type jobs, laying slabs, building lean too, sheds etc etc. But recently my age has caught up with me with various ailments that's limiting me physically, even at work it's a slower pace I have to work.

Other guy is electrician who I've used before too. Need new consumer unit fitting and daughter needs a charge point putting in at her house. I hate keep having to chase people.

I keep wondering if I 'm the only one to be disappointed to discover that "Ford Owners C!ub Digestives" is not an exclusive biscuit for members?

Is anyone else suddenly getting a notification telling them they've just made a post? 😅

Yes

Me too. Its not just my posts, either, seems like every time anyone posts. Perhaps another new feature of the recent update? Whatever, if there's a way to disable it, do let us know.

It seems there was! About 3 days worth of emails just seems to have disappeared. After making phone contact with both guys involved, they were wondering why they hadn't heard from me about their quotes!

Anyway, one has now just left my house after doing the job, and I have a firm date from the other.

Don't like wearing out yet another pair of shoes. Sure it's only been a couple of years since I bought these ones. I just buy cheap generic 'walking shoes' for sub £50. Wondering whether it's worth spending a bit more or whether they're all just poor quality nowadays anyway? So much choice online I don't really know where to start finding any better ones.

For general shoes Clarks shoes are the best quality that you can buy and good if you have wide feet as well, nearly all my shoes come from there.

They are expensive but last for years.
