Things I Don't Like

Fancied something quick and easy for lunch and found an Asda pot noodle in cupboard. Followed instructions to the letter, I'm very fussy! It was disgusting. Even with the addition of salt, soy sauce, and ketchup, totally tasteless & bland and noodles were stringy and awful.

Heads up - if you're buying a 'pot noodle', buy a proper one - Asda can't make them 🤣

Try the ones in a bag, they can't taste any worse 🤣

Don't like losing DaveJaVu from Freeview overnight.

Messages have been showing about channels moving for the last few days but DJV seems to have gone altogether.

Have been using it for years as 'gentle' comedy before bed most nights.

You are mistaken. Red wine. QED.

Hmm, another 'don't like' for Google Photos.

Before I started deleting, I read that if I switch off the backup, then the photos would only be deleted from the backup, and not from my phone.  That is what I wanted.

I wrongly assumed that I could turn back-up back on afterwards, and it would then only backup the new photos.

However that isn't what's happening.  When I turn backup back on, it starts backing up old photos again, the ones that I've deleted.

Anyone know if there's a way to ONLY backup new photos from now on?  A quick search online suggests it's not possible, that will be very annoying if true.  Also makes deleting them from backup pointless if it hasn't allowed more storage for future photos.

I personally hate google photos, and dont use it. I use the samsung cloud on my phone.  anything I dont want backed up il move to the secure folder as thats completely seperate. This would theoretically work for google photos aswell.  but thats only if using the phone. laptop or pc, id assume youd need a secure folder app.

That sounds like a lot of hassle.  I just use what the phone comes with.  Don't want to have to move things into folders and I don't want any more apps.

Best solution I've come up with for now is to only switch on backup when I need it, and watch the symbol change for each new photo, then switch off backup again once the new photos have been done.

If or when I'm forced to get a new phone that should start again from scratch, and I'll delete any unnecessary photos at the time rather than letting them mount up.

I don't like my commute to work this morning!

Wee bit frosty so went out a bit earlier than usual to defrost car. Opened passenger door to throw my backpack in, door unlocked but wouldn't open! Got it open but then wouldn't shut!

Started car and scrapped windscreen etc, jumped in the car and drivers door wouldn't shut either!

I had to try and tie them shut with the seatbelts and hold on to them when going round roundabouts! Thank God I only have a 5 minute drive to work 🙄

When my doors are frozen, I go around the periphery of the door, banging it inwards with my (gloved!) hands to break the ice seal, then I can normally open and shut them, but in Orkney - that might not work !  The other thing I do is make sure the folding mirrors are out, if I think they may freeze shut in icy conditions.

I was talking to a Submariner friend who lives Stromness way - he described the fun he had getting through the snow recently!

Aye, was fun and games for a while! I was 'lucky' in that I was laid up in bed with a chest infection over Christmas and New Year so I missed having to go out in it 😀

I'll give your tip regarding the door a shot next time 😉

Very sadly it looks like I have been forced to leave the FOC forum due to the recent DOWNGRADE of the site.

The new site does not fully support Windows 7 which I will not be changing. There are also issues with using the Firefox browser, which again I will not be changing.

I've not been able to use the site so can not comment on what benefit (if any) the new site has to offer.

I've spent many happy hours on the FOC site in the last 5 years. Who knows I may find some of you on other forums. For those wondering how I was able to post this, the answer is I had to use my Android phone.

If you are unable to see this site, then I cannot send a message of thanks for all the information you have provided!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As you know, I too have been thinking of leaving, and definitely won't be 'renewing' this year. I too run Windows 7, and use FireFox. The functionality of this site has tumbled for me since the 'upgrade'. Again, I have no idea why it changed, it's not as if members were clamoring for such a move. Sad, I've had 5 happy years on here and I will miss it... I use to visit the site multiple times/day, now I rarely dip in at all. Frequent member participation is the lifeblood of any forum. You'll not survive alone on One Post Womders. I pity the sale of Maypole battery chargers, they'll struggle too. ☹️

I'm struggling to get on with the new format even though I'm on android phone. I've just renewed my subs even though i haven't owned a ford for 3+ years.

Mm. According to the app I'm not a premium member . But money has been taken via PayPal on 5/1/2026

I will be very sorry to see you go.

You have been very helpful to me, and given me much good advice.

Thank you.

I'll miss @unofix as well, he has so much knowledge about a lot of things and I have learned much from him.

This is a forum disaster!! With over 26,000 posts @unofix is a major contributor here, helping novices and seasoned owners alike. It's a shame that the site admin never thought a 'beta' test was needed on such a major change, with the likes of him helping to point out the flaws. He knows how I also felt about the changes as one positive thing about the forum is the friendships I have struck with certain members communicating via PMs and personal email.

The saddest thing of all was it was all so unnecessary. I'll dip in now & again, but with a few 1000 posts myself it was a significant part of my online life. Oh well, nothing lasts forever.

Maybe the new forum is only compatible with the latest Android 16 version 😄

I am inclined to agree. It is clear that Windows 7 is still a much used operating system because it satisfies the needs of its many users. Failure to ensure reverse compatibility has made the site difficult to use.

I'm in the same situation as @unofix and @StephenFord in using Windows 7 and Firefox and I, also, do not intend to change. At the moment I am still able to use the forum although as far as I can discover all the 'hover' facilities and the ability to select text as a quote no longer work for me. I've been on the forum for 18 years, albeit not as a paid member, and I've been considering whether I should call it a day. I visit virtually every day and would miss it but, as Stephen said, nothing lasts for ever.

General reply to all the good folks of this sinking ship.

Today is the first time that I've tried to use the site since Sunday 25th. I hoped that the site may have 'got it together' and I'd find it mostly working. Instead I find it even more broken than I had first thought, funny that I commented that the 'grey' was like Microsoft since I see that Windows 11 is a complete failure with so many bugs that the number of users are decreasing, even Bill Gates is very concerned about the state of Windows 11.

I expect that the FOC site gets got a major part of it's income from advertising, who of course will want to know the number of daily users. As the site is mostly unusable to a great many regular members (who are the ones that answer the questions) then I predict the site will go the way of Bud Light and Jaguar.

To those who were kind enough to thank me for my input over the time I've been here, I'd like to say thank you, and I hope you are all able to find a new home 😉

Just about everything in this modern world, especially getting old, pay per view telly and car sensors, give me points, plugs and condenser motors 🙂

I don't like that an idiot left his lights on at work yesterday! 😀 I take it there's no 'Lights on ' warning on a Holden ute? 🙄

Tried to jumpstart it off a mate's car but no joy so I got a lift to the garage I use, borrowed their jumper pack and a van, drove back to the ute, started first turn, back to the garage in the ute and picked up the boy who lent me the van and ran him back for it.

Looked to buy a starter pack and found what looks like a decent one on Amazon, ordered it but got a reply saying that 'because of your location we can't fulfil your order '! A disadvantage of living on an island!

However when I told a mate about it he said him and his wife are going south next week so he's ordered it for delivery to his sister in law and he'll take it home.

So, hopefully I'll never have to use it but it's peace of mind.
