Minor Rtc Advice Needed

Sounds a plan

To be fair, at that price and the fact you need to sand it down, worst case scenario you could patch any damage in the process.

Sounds like a plan never the less :-)

How easy is it to transfer the mounting brackets from my damaged front bumper over to a new front bumper?

How do they attach?

I believe they are riveted on and should drill out easily.

If so you need proper Ford rivets as standard ones will split the plastic (Ford ones are made from a softer alloy).

Figured they'd be riveted

How much will the ford rivets set me back?

Silly question but how easy is it to rivet them back on?

I have two options

Option one is to buy a used standard bumper in silver, have it sanded and resprayed then remove the fog surrounds, upper/lower grills and bumper lip from my damaged bumper and fit them to the resprayed bumper.

The silver bumper still has the mounting brackets intact so no need to transfer my old ones over. It also comes with a standard lower grill so at the end of it I'd have that grill to sell on to recoup some funds.

Option two is buy a used titanium x sport bumper ready in panther black. Even though it's already the right colour it will still need respraying to match the rest of the cars body work and also because it will have scratches and wear marks so will need spraying to make perfect again.

The black bumper does not have the mounting brackets intact so my old ones will need transferring over. It doesn'tt come with any grills but it does come with the sports bumper lip still in tact so that would save the job of cutting my old one off and gluing it on.

Both bumpers are around the 100quid mark

I think I am siding slightly towards option two

Opinions?

Thoughtso

Option one saves the job of riveting the brackets

But option two saves the job of gluing on the lip

Seeing as option two is already the right colour, is there any chance it will require less work doing compared to the silver one? Like could it get away with a light respray to touch up any scratches etc? Or will it need completely sanding back regardless?
