I got a tank of Super Unleaded last night. No drastic changes but I can say that the engine runs smoother while accelerating and also, it wasn't as sluggish this morning in the cold as before. I'll report back if I notice anything else.

  • Folks you may have noticed that I've been relatively quiet on here for a while. The reason being, my wife and I have bought our first house together. We are finally getting settled and all is well so

  • That house looks very small... Or is it just far away?

Wouldn't think you would notice it that quick...?

The engine is probably still pulling in the old fuel.

Me neither to be honest but I'm pretty sure the thing runs smoother. I gave it a blast down the carriageway on the way home after filling up, that's when I noticed.

I'll give it a go and see. Might take two tanks to get the full benefit but all I can do is try :)

on your 1.6 probably not a big change its the same as in my other halfs fiesta. On turbo'd cars there is a difference slight bhp increase and better MPG. My ST only usto get tesco Premium as its the highest octane on the forecourts.

this was shown on 5th gear if i remember correct.

Aye not a huge difference to the car really but I'm sure it runs slightly smoother.

Does anyone know if the MK3 Focus has a cold engine safe mode ? that's the only way I can think of wording that. The car sometimes feels like it holding back a good bit when I put my foot down. Now this doesn't happen all the time, but seems to be on first start in the morning or after work after the cars been sitting a while.

Any ideas?

Also, would the engine cover from the 1.6 ecoboost fit on my tivct?

I know the fiesta 1.6 dosnt as that,what the other half's car is. Could be the vct kicking in maybe...

Possibly. I need to turn the engine off and on again for it to go away. That's what's making me think it's the cold.

Very small update:

Whilst I had the battery disconnects today to try and maybe sort out whatever issues the cars having (hopeful, I know) I inadvertently fixed the 'bulb out' message that kept appearing since I had my HIDs put in. The cancellers were wired in at the time and I thought they just didn't work. But they do.

That is all :) Happy.

Happy Christmas everyone! Hope you all had a good day.

Been quiet in here I know. Should be a few more updates next week as I've ordered a few things today for the car. I'll post as soon as they're installed.

:)

Also changed the footwell led strips to red instead of blue. Will get pics when it's darker.

Waiting for new Cree sidelight and reverse bulbs and also, new DRLs !

Hopefully arriving today.

Just read through all of the thread. Some great work indeed and given me some ideas for mine. Must say the footwells look better red then blue. Possibly biased as mine is red lol.

The red matches the already present ambient lighting. This makes it look better now rather than mismatched with the blue.

One note on the deflectors though. Just after driving from Derry to Belfast and the wind/road noise was extremely amplified. Not sure if it's air rushing through the gap between the wing mirror and window or if there's a slight gap at the top of the window where the metal clips are. Will decide what to do when I get back from Manchester.

Anyone know how to wire them in? I'm just being impatient. Wondering if mine are wired differently. I posted in another topic about wiring also.

Red to Battery + , black to earth

Yellow to sidelight

I assume the DRL relay senses when the voltage is more than 13.8 and the engine is running and switches them on.

The yellow wire will dim them when the lights come on

There's also a white wire too. This is what the instructions say:

Black = Earth

Red = Postive Pole (Battery?)

Yellow = ACC fuse

White = Control wire

I was worried in case this is wrong after looking at a few other drl threads.

Ah so its a simple relay instead of a voltage sensitive one.

Black - earth

Red = battery +

Yellow = Ignition switched

White = Sidelight + (dimmer feed)

Must be. I had a chat to the mechanic next door here. He said the same thing. Also the red for Postive pole is fused. That means I can just plug the yellow straight into the ACC fuse ?

I'd run a fuse tap for the ACC

So altogether the wiring harness would fuse the feed from the battery and the ACC would be also fused?

Here's a pics just in case:

Is a fuse tap the same as a piggyback ?

If you use a fuse tap for the ACC, then you'll be able to add a fuse to the ACC feed. Always good when adding aftermarket bits. Yeah its basically like a piggyback
