Hi all, i have a 2010 mondeo 1.8tdci. Great car love it but... Sometimes when i pull out of a junction it pulls out really really slow and just seems it doesn't have any power to begin with then it will pick up and be fine. I know half of this is probably caused to my driving, but is there anything mechanical i can do to help reduce this from happening? Thank you

Hello Brighty16.

I have the exact same problem with my 2.0 Mondeo on occasion and it can be scarey when the thing wont move and other traffic is closing in on you.

Hi mondeo161

Yes it can be scary with traffic closing in on you. I didn't know whether something could be done with the throttle body to improve response?

Thanks Brighty. How can the Throttle body be adjusted to help this? Also would a re-map or ad on box help?

A re-map may help to be fair, all i know about the throttle body is back when i had a rover we could upgrade the throttle body from a 48mm to a 52mm for it to get more air in which improved the throttle response. I weren't sure if there was something similar we could do on a mondeo?

I have ordered a piper cross air filter in the hope that that might increase air flow and help.

Ahh yeye i didn't think of that, can you let me know how you get on with it?

Fitted the piper cross air filter and it has made a bit of a difference but I think I will have a word with a man who runs a local garage in Motherwell. He has the same car as me and also specialises in tuning cars. I am sure when he was tracking my son's Focus, he said that he had re-mapped his as it had similar problems.

More to follow.
