Legal Reg Plate?

Featured Replies

I recall a story once how a guy got tugged for a illegally spaced plate. The gent said to the officer 'yours is illegally spaced too' to which the officer denied. The gent was one of the guys who came up with the specifications in the first place, pulled out a ruler with the official guides on and proved to the officer that his was actually illegal too.

I am guessing though that it is an urban legend, and should be taken with a pinch of salt.

  • There are a huge number of cars running around my area with insane amounts of tint on the front windows, completely blackened tail-lights, and illegal number plates. I wish the police in this country

Yes it would be illegal ( incorrect spacing )

  • Very illegal and begging to be tugged. Why make yourself a target.

It would be amusing if there was truth to it though....

I would rate your font as at least substantially similar if not actually Charles Wright.

It has a few VERY slight differences, but they're not noticeable unless you Lay the two texts over each other :)

While we're on the subject...pressed plates are definitely legal now aren't they? Correct font, reflective and carry the BS number. I know it used to be a grey area.

Pressed 'German' plates are ok as long as font and layout is correct.

You can also have 3D plates.

Sounds very grey area still...

Not sure what makes them German...after my Golf I had them on the Peugeots and Fords as well. :D

But yeah they are all correct spacing etc, not foreign style, it's just that I never used to see police living out in the stix but now live half a mile from the local station and am often following/being followed by them now.

Where a lot of people fall down on pressed plates is where they use the German font which is more rounded.

A pressed plate with Charles Wright is fine.

Guess it's all the folks using the Charles Wrong font that keeps the police in business ;)
