Back to the Edge condensation issue, my reflector assembly (its official name in the ‘16 Edge parts manual), which is the long unit running horizontally along the tailgate, has excessive condensation, telling me that the vent is clogged.  Has anyone ever tried a disassembly to fix the ventilation issue?  The dealer quoted $1,807.29 (!) for the part, plus $120 or so to install.  I have every drill bit known to man, so I’m considering a home-made remedy.

I’d like a solution too. I have condensation in both side rear light clusters and inside the reflector assembly. I have taken the reflector assembly off previously but cannot see any vent holes or any way of fully dismantling it. I have silica gel sachets inserted into each side light clusters and am thinking about taking the reflector assembly off again to see if I can somehow get silica gel in there too. The reflector assembly looks like it should come apart but despite taking various bolts out, I couldn’t manage it first time round. I’d be interested in a solution if there is one.

Not any more mate, I'm retired. Your mileage boast isn't something I'm unfamiliar with though, my norm was 100,000 every two years (car change time). Clearly I have learnt nothing about driving in 50

Ford Focus here... same technology.

The other night I was driving in heavy rain, poor visibility.

The car in front had slammed on his brakes for no 'obvious' reason - he had no brake lights. A common 'cash for crash' scenario here in Bradford.

The manic flashing 'Collision Alert' light and beeps saved me on that occasion.

Normally I find that warning a bit too pre-emptive (even on low setting). It can be really annoying.

However, after that incident, I don't mind it so much. It does do it's job. I might not like it. But I now respect it.

It might save you a bump one day.
