Fitting DRL to sidelights

Featured Replies

so far all i have learnt is this is the best way to do it as the lights should be legally used in conjunction with your sidelights and not main beam or anything......

does anyone know how i could connect them up the the sidelights?

What make are your DRL's? also, what was included with them?

i got them from halfords, for christmas i got like 30 quid in halfords vouchers so decided just use them up.. they jus come with the lights a battery pack so you can see what they look like and thats all

any chance of some pictures once you have them fitted?

Out of interest, where exactly are you planning on fitting the DRLs?

Looking at the front of the Fiesta the only option that doesn't involve cutting holes in the bodywork is the main grill - but thats quite narrow compared to the overal width of the car, so I wonder if they would look odd fitted at a point narrower than the main lights.

you'd be aswell removing the indicators in your side mirrors and using those to house your drl's, i bet this would be a world first lol

Check out post dated 20/8/09,under pictures of my zetec s mountune, flexi led's that contour around the headlights via an american firm.

i take it that the DRL's you got are these ones...

http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/...tegoryId_165688

after looking at http://www.fordownersclub.com/forums/index...ic=7004&hl=

i think they look fantastic and with postage they come to 45 dollers (just under £30)

however, its alot easier to pop to halfords to buy them then if they look naff just take them back. the only difference i can see between them is that the halford ones are only 15 inch long, (compared to the 19inch ones shown on the white zetec s) so what would they look like?

i would imagine they are very easy to wire up, positive to sidelight positive and negitive to a ground somewere near, cant go wrong really.

if i get time i will go to halfords any buy some then try them on for size, unless you have any pics of them fitted?

when i get them on i will... i gotta nip back halfords tomorrow the ones i got are dodgy as only just got them out of packaging and they naffed up already.... but yeh as someone said previously, if they dont look the part take them back and get a refund and get some longer ones seems simple to me

and with saying they are easy to wire up, how do you do it?! i ony just got my sidelights back working so i dnt wanna mess around with them

On the top of the lights?

I'd go for the underneath tbh, although on top of the lights looks good also! A bit like a Saab :)

The kit on that american site looks the business, why can't we get that sort of stuff in the UK. The stuff over here costs more and looks poor by comparison. Good find that site, well done

Ordered. came to £27 which to be honest is very good. even if they was a uk seller selling them the same spec and quality, you can gaurantee they'd be atleast £50!

yours truely ebay and 13 quid ;) they look the spit of them ones of the link on that link you put earlier on the post

You got the link? Did abit of research on the eBay ones as I was going to get some but apparently there very brittle and cheaply made so be careful when your shaping them to the light, ( a hair dryer or warm water should help) don't forget to post pics up when there fitted, got yourself a bargain at £13 if there any good

i will do! and well i thought for 14 quid (got it wrong originally!), the worst that can happen is i lose 14 quid not a massive issue is it, and yeh the hairdryer thing i learnt that with the halfords ones but they was just useless, they was too small and dim

And as for your link... i pretty sure the pics aint from these exact ones but oh well
