The Mk 1 focus is a strong car however rust is the biggest enemy of the these cars now due to age. The 1.6 is a good engine but doesn't like being neglected and will burn lots of oil if this is the case. Ford were changing dash clocks free of charge at one point due to various faults so this will explain the clock change. But at this age I wouldn't worry to much about the mileage just go on condition and how it drives. Are there any clonks or rattles from the suspension, does the engine pull cleanly with no hesitation, check the rear and front wheel arches for rust, also check the sills for rust carefully along with the floor pan. Is the engine oil clean etc etc3 points

Moving house tomorrow finally getting a drive and garage I wanted to mess around with the car happy days !2 points

If it was just for aesthetics you could always just fit the lights but not wire them up. Given how rarely they are used (correctly at least!) no one would be any the wiser!2 points

they make plenty of money as they have ripped you off, it`s only £2.06p with this weeks discount code at eurocarparts2 points

*cringe*. You've lost performance by doing that. You might have slightly more air going in, but probably more dirt too. The air will also be hotter as you've ditched the airbox/cold intake, which is not as good for combustion.2 points

Hi guys, Seen a mk1 2003 1.6 petrol advertised for sale with Mot till end of year & new cambelt just done. Seems in reasonable condition and like a genuine sale. What should i look out for on these cars? Advert says clock reads 82,000 but clocks were replaced at some point and is more like 120,000. Any thoughts on this? Asking price is £600 ono. Any thoughts appreciated......1 point

Very true! Would hurt my ego though if I tried, messed it up and then had to pay some one to correct it all [emoji23][emoji23] Sent from my Phantom6 using Tapatalk1 point

Don't forget to get the high level brake light tinted too. Get the silver repeater bulbs that flash Amber but look silver so look better when not in use. Dont forget to do the interior courtesy bulbs when you're doing the LED conversion. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk1 point

Mine runs fine, never experienced your issues (watch me start having said issues after posting that 😂) take it back to ford/the garage where you bought it from... but as mentioned above, uninstall the bluefin first as they will likely blame that and void your warranty.1 point

As I said, literally no clue where I'd begin with something like that. Would probably surprise myself too, straight into a lorry or a tree! [emoji23][emoji23] Sent from my Phantom6 using Tapatalk1 point

Yeah there is so many mods that are legal you can drive a fully modified 600 bhp rs at any age as long as you can afford it but if you tint them front windows ooooooh noo your nicked sunshine haha1 point
-
Personally I don't see the issue with it, think it's just due to the boy racers having them done so the police can see who's driving the cars easier tbh.1 point

Yes that's why I have the Carbon fiber look CAIS induction system with a K&N filter just so its kinder to the turbo. Only thing with a Cais is that its massive, and the advantage is no heat soak. And yes it does produce 345 BHP on the dyno not bad for the standard ST Turbo( just a different actuator on the Turbo). As your post I also have done some daft things too lol I won't say as its to embarrassing lol lol I believe it does all I can say is to try it if you feel its not for you, you can always resell it1 point

I'm not saying don't do it, and I appreciate that not everyone has the same ideas when it comes to mods. I've done my fair share of what other people thought were stupid things but I liked them. I didn't know your car had a map, your bio says 125 and there is nothing in your signature to suggest a map. If you like an idea then go with it, that's your perogotive. When it's done post a sound clip, despite not liking it on some cars, I do appreciate the sound. That's some claim Alex, by that timing you will beat a 140ps off the line too. In fact you will only be 1s behind the new ST when it is released. Imagine what you could have done if it was a clean start. If you read my comment again mate you will see I said it's not a slow car.1 point

Hi I bought a side vent to fit onto the sides of my Fiesta (purely asthetic) and was recommended to use silicon to stick the vent onto the outer bodywork/ paint of the car. Question 1 will this be strong enough? The plastic attachment is very light. And 2 will this damage the paintwork? Thanks Tom...1 point

No not at all mine just popped in smoothly n windows up n down no rubbing, and tbh never heard any issues regarding any wind deflectors and window tinting1 point

@Gizza11 I can understand why you have a BOV, your car produces 340bhp (as per your bio) so it's going to fit with the performance. The 125 is hardly a 'performance' car with a 0-60 of about 9.5s is it? I mean it's not slow and it's a cracking engine but does the car suit the 'tshh' sound from a dump valve? I'm pretty sure there will be a loss of performance to some degree. While not throwing up the EML the ECU is still not programmed for any loss of pressure. A car sitting about in traffic or doing slow 'laps' of the town does, IMHO sound daft. Now a car going quick does sound good with a dump/BOV. I particularly like the sound of turbo flutter/surge, unfortunately it not that good for your turbo.1 point

I'd second the mirror adhesive/pads suggestion - they are purpose designed for the job.1 point

Try pulling the fuse of SYNC while the car is off, then putting it back in and restarting the car. I found this fully cleaned up SYNC and fixed issues I was having.1 point

I use Climair they don't use clips and just fit within the window frame snugly. You can get them from most Ford main service garages where they do Ford parts or via the internet. They are good quality, easy to fit in about 15-20 mins on a two door and I have not had any problem with them what so ever. If I remember right they come in dark or light tint I have the dark. Some say they have problems with window closing with them all I can say not me but if so putting the window up and down a few times to get the new parts settled does the trick1 point

For more noise fit an open cone, ITG's filter goes under the headlight in a cooler area, or if you still want a dump valve go fir a turbo smart dual port.1 point

It's a Nextbase 101 which is really basic to be honest and the picture quality isn't fantastic when not at close range but as its the back window, I don't mind. I shell out more for the front facing camera.1 point

think i would still have a look at the brake pipe. sounds like it might have been fixed in a kind of temporary way and might need a periodic check to may sure as is still well. but is it the rigid metal brake pipe or a flexible rubber brake hose? Brake hoses usually do not have intermediate clips between the end joints. the rigid metal brake pipes usually have plastic clips at various intervals along the length to stop them hanging down a bit and catching on obstructions and to stop them vibrating. bearing in mind the importance of brake pipes "he fixed it back best he could" does not exactly inspire confidence when they gave the verdict on brake pads was this just MOT or a service also. They would not take wheels off just for a mot and it is not always easy to check the pads properly with wheels on. if they used a dentist mirror they might get a better view, I don't know if they would ever do that. are your wipers really still ok, they don't last forever, I reckon I replace mine about once per year. I only replace them when their ability to clear the rain well deteriorates, but I reckon that is about once per year.1 point

I wouldn't be happy seeing that every time I used the car. You know the old saying; If a job's worth doing, it's worth doing well. Take 'em off and start again!1 point

ouch ! so all the money saved on stop starting the engine in traffic basically goes towards the cost of a replacement battery then ? i can see a small flaw in this piece of environmentalist thinking lol. :-)1 point

Funny that you should mention that, I was talking to my dad about this very thing the other day. The honest answer is I don't know how much a remap would be because nearly everyone i've spoke to in the North East will not touch my car for some reason, I don't get it? Might be worth talking to Pumaspeed or someone similar just to see if it can be done. Glad you like the seats! I love them! I removed all the Focus brackets from the bottom, nipped up to the salvage yard and nicked a couple of runners from the bottom of a Fiesta seat, chopped off the inner rails so that the Recaros would sit flat on the runners when bolted to the car, using the existing holes on the bottom of the Focus runners I used six high tensile short bolts and bolted the seats to the Fiesta runners and the end result is shown1 point
