  2. I bought a basic low spec mk6 pre facelift fiesta with manual windows, so decided to look in to see if i could convert them to electric, i was pleased to read all over the internet that it was possible (without having to fit relays and wire into fusebox etc) so thought i would look for a decent guide for an amateaur like myself, but unfortunately couldn't find a comprehensive one, so i did the conversion and took photos so i could put a guide together to help people wanting to attempt it theirselves. First i must say that if you attempt this and break your car dont blame me, as this is just to show whats involved. IT is important that if fitting to a pre facelift you must fit the parts from a pre facelift car as the wiring loom plugs are different..... i will add pics at the end of this guide. tools needed: Philips screwdriver Flathead screwdriver Torx drivers (unsure of sizes sorry) Socket set or spanners (again, sorry can't remember sizes) parts needed: Door card trim with the cut outs for window switches Window switches, Inner door panel with electric window motor, electric window regulator, and wiring loom obviously with electric window wiring and plugs.i found buying the whole inner door panel with all the parts attached a much easier and cheaper option.(£30-50 per side) Ok first thing to do is disconnect the plug below the door hinges(turn anti clockwise) next thing to do is remove the door card, so, the first to come off is the window winder :D to do this, pull it out from the door slightly and you will see a little spring/clip thingumy, remove it using a flat head screwdriver, Next remove the mirror panel so twist the little adjuster arm anti clockwise and pull off, then carefully unclip the panel from the door I used a flathead screwdriver to prise (i'd advise you protect plastics by using a cloth between screwdriver and trim) making sure you dont break any of the clips holding it in place. Next use a flat screwdiver or similar and use to prise off the window winder panel (you dont have to be too careful here as you will be replacing this piece of trim with the one that holds your window switches :) Now behind the door latch theres a little cover hiding a philips screw, pop off the cover and unscrew the screw. Remove the two screws holding on the door pull handle, these screws are torx (T25 possibly) Next lie under the door and you will see two plastic hexagonal screw thingumies on the underside of the door card..... you need to unscrew then pull out. once you are at this stage, the door card is ready to be unclipped from the door, using a flat screwdriver as a pry tool start on the outside edge of the doorcard just prise out enough to get your fingers between the doorcard and the door, then run your fingers along the bottom of the doorcard, popping the clips out as you go. Now pull the doorcard out slightly and push it up to unhook it from the window seal. The doorcard still cant be completely removed at this stage, until the door latch has been unclipped..... be careful as you do this as it is quite easy to snap the clip..... Now that the latch has been unclipped you can now completely remove the doorcard and begin tackling the inner panel. Remove all the bolts on the outer edge securing the panel to the door, i think there are 12 in total. now remove the two foam/or rubber gromets that allow you access to the clips which holds the window to the regulator. Note this will be different if you are doing the conversion to a 5 door car (there is only one clip holding the glass to the regulator) unfortunately i don't have a picture of a 5door model. Next you have to re attach your window winder to roll the window down until you can see the clips that is holding the glass to the regulator (through the holes revealed by the rubber/foam gromets you previously removed) Now with a decent long screwdriver push the centre of the clip firmly being careful not to slip or you will risk breaking the glass, as you are pushing the clip, pull the window upwards so that it releases from the regulator, then do the same with the other clip(3 door models) Now that the window is released from the regulator you will discover that theres nothing to hold it in place so instead of removing the window from the door just slide it up the runners and tape it holding it in the up position. Now for the trickiest part of the whole job, you need to unhook the panel from the locking mech........ the 2 above pictures are from the panel and the lock mech removed from the car just to show whats actually holding it in place, Theres 3 lugs(circled in the pic) and a little position stopper(i forgot to identify this...but you can clearly see it to the upper left of the panel), and 4 holes on the lock mech, so what you have to do is slide the panel off the lock but to do this you have to push a screwdriver in to the position stopper to allow the two panels to move. please be VERY CAREFUL here because you do not want to break the lugs especially when fitting the new electric panel. sorry if this isn't described very well, but im sure you will see what i mean once you get to this stage. once you seperate the panel from the lock you can disconnect the central locking plug. Now you can now remove the panel from the door. Once you have stripped the door you can then build it back up in reversal of removal using your new electric panels . Hope this guige helps at least a few of you wanting to do this very worthwhile upgrade. I mentioned at the beginning of this guide that there are differences between the pre facelift and the facelift wiring looms....... the above loom is from a PRE facelift mk6 and the loom below is from a facelift mk6.5 Thats about it, but if you need any questions answered or help during the conversion i will try my best to answer and help everyone who attempts the upgrade. Thanks.

  5. Thanks for all the replies guys, didnt realise they were replicas but the price did seem unreal lol I just added 4 rims from Lenny's link almost £700!!!!!!!Think I'm gonna have to downgrade my choice if it makes costs cheaper to something like zetec s alloys or another alternative. My budget just on rims is around £500 not inc tyres, is that decent wedge for rims or should I eat less and save more?

  6. the ones you linked to are just replicas. but will fit fine. check ebay for second hand ones for facelift. or prefacelift which ever you prefer. some st3 with tyres here

  7. Lenny, surely you meant 215/45/18, not 55 ??? Profile would be way to big. Personally would opt for 225/40/18's myself. You've just edited your post haha.

  8. Hi Lenny! Wow the Legend himself replies ! thanks for replying, ok taken all that info on board where would you recommend to get the newer alloys from if you know of such a place. Cheers

  9. Yes they have always been on the conservative side yes as i use have dreamscience in my st225 and you could change between 4/5 maps wen ever you wished without losing a life in the handheld flash unit an you did notice the shove in power between the standard map as a mate who owned a skyline at the time said my st would give his car a run for its money . I really hope the upgrades by mountune come out soon an have decent power figures :)

  10. had the 2 front ones go, i want to still get the ford ones just because i like the simplistic look, so going to buy all 4. Good to hear that if i buy the 2010/2013 ones they are less likely or prone then the ones i have now because i dont want to buy the same alloys and have the exact same problem.

  11. Only drove it a couple of miles mate, but early impressions are excellent. The hissing noise from the turbo when you lift off the throttle is just awesome.

  12. You won't regret getting one , go on and order it :) they stick to road like a wet blanket with great feed back through the steering , you feel the steering pushing like a go kart as you power through the bends being nicely weighted and 2nd gear punch is phenomenal with that lovely sound coming into the cabin around 4/5000 rpm plus if you cog it down from 6th to 4th at 80/90 it will sprint away like a jet , not had that since my Focus St225 days . It's totally different to my other fiesta's an got decent brakes now as i hardly press the brake pedal now as my old s1600 felt like you were pressing the pedal to the floor before anything happened ! Ford have got it spot on :) oh and if you look on Scc performance web site they are nearly finished a Revo remap thats in it finally testing apparently with great results so the tuners are already developing performance parts :) Mountune are already offering there aluminuim billet short shift kit as well which shortens the shifting by 30% .

  13. The ambient lights around the centre cup holder and glovebox are not adjustable they are a fixed glow , you can however dim the instrument cluster which i never had on my previous zetec s or s1600 . The drivers window is only one shot window as you still have to hold the button to open an close the passenger one an the heated seats are a low and high heat adjustment an will display one light for low heat and if you press the button again it will display two lights for high heat ! You will need sunglasses wen the scuff plates light up in poor light or in darkness as they glow soooo bright that you could almost trip up an fall in the car if you stare at them :) I have only seen one blue st on the road near me an a black one at my dealers the same time i picked mine up , i went to see a mate last weekend near southend an see a white an black one on the forecourt an also a white one on a drive way so yes they are quite rare at the mo !

  16. I just feel that you can't do as much with a diesel. And mpg I'm just Getting 40mpg I know this is good about the city but I was originally looking at an st as only do about 20 miles a day if I'm lucky and I also don't like the silver titanium with zetec s bodykit and there is one in torry (area I stay) I just feel that a petrol will sound better and since it's basic compared to the titanium I can modify it so I'm happy with it.

  17. It is most likely the Bluetooth/Voicecontrol module previously did not came from a Focus. Unlike the part numbers are completely the same the Bluetooth/Voicecontrol modules from the Focus MK2, C-max MK1 and Kuga MK1 are differently configured than the Bluetooth/Voicecontrol modules from the mondeo MK4, S-max/Galaxy and fiesta MK7. Because of the different configuration of the module it does not respond to the VOICE button. To solve this you have to re-configure the Bluetooth/Voicecontrol module for the correct vehicle. You can do this by yourself using an ELM327 interface an the ELMconfig program.

  21. Not sure on the Cmax i know my fiesta you need to keep your finger on the button to fully open or shut the window. i preffer it that way to be honest means you can open it as much as you want :)

  23. The fog light trim is a cosmetic piece that just clips into place. Your fog light will not need replacing. http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=280749682034

  24. Have you already tried to remove the positive battery cable for about half an hour? If removing the battery cable does not solve the problem you can try to remove the instrument cluster from the car, connect it directly to a (12 Volt DC) power source and the ELM327 interface and perform the firmware update again . Sometimes this will solve the problem. If performing the update outside the car also does not solve the problem there are only a few possibillities. You can buy and re-program another (either brand new or already used) instrument cluster or take the current (not working) instrument cluster to a specialized company for repair (if possible). I own an instrument cluster which has similar problems like yours. It came from someone who tried to perform the firmware update and aborted the update before it was finished. Afterwards the screen turns black and nothing seems to work. The guy who did this had to buy and re-program another instrument cluster because he needs his car every day. Until now I have not been able to get it to work again.
