  3. I'm in a new to me truck today. A 63 plate DAF and what a ruddy excellent option it's got. Four sensors down the nearside and when I indicate left a loud voice states Warning. Vehicle Turning Left. I think all trucks should have that option. I've seen many a startled pedestrian in my mirrors. I like it.

  5. Shh!!! No - seriously - my glasses were broken in the crash, and I only had one pair of non-tinted lenses.

  6. I do like having the offer of attending an open day tomorrow to discuss a potential new job... Couldn't really come at a worse time after the accident, but if I can get dressed and put up a "everything is OK" front for a few hours, I could secure myself a new job which could earn me more money and get me out of the current job which I hate. I also like ordering two new pairs of glasses online for less than I would pay for one at a high street opticians.

  7. Nobody is ever completely happy these days! That is the right of the great British public, to complain. Nothing said at the beginning of this thread sounds that bad to me. Have a look at the Discovery Sport Forum if you want to see expert complaining. Jim

  8. Ha, yes that would be good! It isn't even worth going through insurance to be honest, I'll see if a local scrap yard can collect it and perhaps give me £50 or something, like they did with the Fiesta (not the old Ghia, but the newer silver model that I planned on fixing up but never did). I could probably get £300 from the insurance, but then would have to pay £500+ more next year for having a claim, just not worth it.

  11. If you connect the yellow and red cable from the headunit into the the larger connector as in the diagram in the top right of your third picture it will work I dependant if the ignition switch but, you will have to remember to turn the headunit off or you will have a flat battery.

  12. Apart from my pride and joy I also dabble in RC. Mostly Nitro and my 1/5 scale 2-Stroke, however, not many others are into it around my area so I end up thrashing the local fields alone... anyone else here into RC? Cars, planes, drones etc?

  13. Hi, I want to change the original speakers in my Focus 2008. 18. As above plus K&N E-9289 filter will give you the best of both worlds. It has a removable bung on the side to give you some induction noise and blow off hiss (like a mini dumpvalve) without the much debated heatsoak issues with open cone filters (I am still waiting to see actual proof on that one!). I have the K&N on my 182 and the difference was instantly noticeable, the car feels like its being strangled if you drop a standard filter back in. Its the filter out of the 57s-4000 kit. The only difference is youre not paying an extra hundred odd quid for a lid with a K&N logo. Then there is this option available now too! http://www.autospecialists.co.uk/Focus-ST250-RS-Style-Induction-Kit-Product-2640.html Lots more goodies here - http://www.autospecialists.co.uk/Focus-Mk3-ST250--Zetec-S-2012-PRESENT-Category-93.html

  20. Exactly. If it is in the Road Traffic Act, then it is good enough for me regardless of what an individual's opinion may be. As you say, it is a redundant discussion now anyway.

  24. Just noticed both front door window seals on my mk2.5 r showing signs of mould and the rubber is starting to break up. I believe the correct name is the exterior cantrails? Could be wrong though. Anyway anyone got any idea how I can remove the mould without resorting to replacing the entire rubber seal but if I have too how much of a job is it to swap them out?

  25. I do like the fact that finally I will be going out in a big boys truck tonight, with another driver for a week or so before being let loose on my own back on the road. It will be so nice after being stuck in the yard for over a year and a half shunting. Most likely a Volvo FH, will find out where I am going tonight. I have been itching to get behind the wheel since passing my test back in July. Finally had my driving assessment done last week so now i'm all good to go.

  28. On the way to get the Mk1 Focus it's MOT, I don't like almost being taken out by a VW van, who didn't look whatsoever, as her reversed out of his drive. I had to swerve across on to the opposite side of the road, and even then he kept coming at my nearside If there had be an oncoming vehicle: there'd have been nowhere for me to go I also don't like acquiring an infected left sinus, it's started to get painful today, radiating downwards into my gum line i didn't know you could have a situation where only got infected, but seems you can

  29. I've just returned from taking the Mk1 Focus for it's MOT, which it passed (again) with no advisories (again). This brings my unblemished record of continually getting MOT passes to 40 Spread amongst 2 Foci, a Peugeot, 406, 2 BMW 7 series, several Volvos and an Astra. It goes to show if maintain and service your cars properly, the MOT is a annual formality, like Xmas and birthdays, I also like finding a massive box from Makita in the hall as I entered. I assume the courier put it there, as my elderly Mum struggles with a 4pt carton of milk, I can't see moving a 30Kg box from the doorstep into the hall It may be, but I'd reached the limit of how girthsome I was prepared to put up with. On October the 3rd I decided it was too much and needed curtailing. Due to the fact it takes 3-4 weeks to become keto-adapted, I shall probably continue to diet during Xmas, added to which you have to carefully re-introduce carbs gradually when you want to stop dieting. I think it's something like, add 3g per kilo of body weight, per day, over an extended period until you're back to a normal amount. The liver can't cope with it, if you return to normal suddenly.

  30. I know this is a bit late to the thread, but when you put your H&R springs on, did you have any noises when braking afterwards? Got mine fitted the other day and my mechanic couldn't find the cause of it. Thinks it might be the anti roll bar rubbing because it's sitting at a different angle now? Cracking work you've done to your car so far though ;)

  35. Looks like your trackings out a bit as well Seriously though, glad you're OK. As said before, cars can be replaced, bodies can't. Ice can lie on roads for a while after temps have risen above freezing. Patches that don't get the sun etc Even worse if the road hasn't been gritted or if it has the salt hasn't had time, or the traffic, to clear it. Learn by your mistakes and move on. Any driver who tells you they haven't had a self-inflicted brown-trouser moment is lying

  37. Thanks all for the messages (even the sarcasm from Wes! ), just home now after spending 6 hours in hospital... Extended throughout the afternoon due to them thinking I might have damaged my kidneys somehow. Thankfully a CT scan proved negative and although they wanted to keep me in overnight for observation, that wasn't happening!! What I need is a cup of tea and my own bed.

  38. I don't like spending the past four hours in A&E after hitting a patch of black ice on the drive to work this morning. The Mercedes is a complete write-off, but thankfully I escaped with only minor injuries. I'm just grateful no other cars were involved. The paramedic took a picture of the car and sent it to my phone (which thankfully was retrieved alongside my wallet), and it really is quite a state. Frankly, I wouldn't have been surprised if somebody had died looking at the front end. God was on my side today, that's for sure. As the temperatures were above zero it never occurred to me that there may be black ice, but that's what happens when you assume. Just be careful if you are traveling on country roads when it has been freezing overnight, even if you are familiar with the road (as I was).

  39. I'm now starting the 10th week of my diet and Tuesday is my weekly measurement and stats day. Last week, I've lost another 0.5% of body fat and gained 0.2% muscle mass, my girth is 12mm less again, I seem to have settled into losing 12mm a week at the moment. This is third week it's been 12mm! If he goes to a toddler group, you could work out some complicated mathematical formulae that contained "Plus" and the answer was in fact "8" and use it to confound all the other parents and staff, with your "maths genius son"

  47. you need to establish if there is output from the audio unit. I would get an old car speaker with some wires on (do you have one laying around in your shed or so something) and push the bare wires down into the plug behind the audio unit (in the holes for the correct wires of course) and see if you can get some sound there. You don't want to go pulling trim off here there and everywhere to access all of the wiring if you have not proved beyond doubt that sound is being output from the audio unit on the rear speaker ouput
