  1. I do like spending 3½ hours in the delightful company of Pipper the springer spaniel. http://www.margaretgreenanimalrescue.org.uk/41870 We bonded instantly (as I did with Brandy 16 years ago), we then had a 2 hour walk around the dog walking paddocks, followed by an hour of play and cuddling. Like a cat, she likes to be cuddled: with her sitting on your lap and nuzzling, And we then had another hours walk, before I had to hand her back, for the visiting time period was closing, for the day. I told the rescue centre I would like to offer her a forever home and for them, to begin the rehoming process. I couldn't have found a better new companion I going to see her tomorrow for another session, and hopefully daily, until the rehoming process concludes and she finally comes to stay

  4. Due to time constraints, I didn't get to take as many pictures as I would have liked. One of each bulb in... After messing with the ISO on the camera to capture the lenses properly... Halogen. Matches the DRL. LED. Doesn't match DRL, but I can live with that. Light difference shining into garage... Both in... Silvatec front indicators if anyone's interested... Rears... Also done the wing mirror indicators but never took pictures. And the new car itself. Now got 420 miles on it. (Pics before bulb changes) Paul.

  5. There are indeed. As it happens, tomorrow, I'm going to meet, walk and play with a springer spaniel, at a local rescue centre, who needs a new forever home. http://www.margaretgreenanimalrescue.org.uk/41870

  7. Is that why they have so many cheap newish cars for sale nowadays? Do they secretly pass on problems to unsuspecting car buyers simply because they are too clueless to fix the problems themselves? lol

  8. Happy birthday Lenny It could have been worse, she might have asked for some of your money to buy you your present and card.

  9. I'm so happy for you Ghana, and it sounds like a very professional and well-run organisation you are rehoming her from.

  12. My mum got hers from there. She's a volunteer for them, collecting from the mgft food bin at the local supermarket. I've dropped off the stuff at Bere Regis quite a bit. My mum also got her latest cat from the Church Knowle branch. Great charity. They even let me behind the scenes for my school coursework when they were having the kennels built.

  13. She's a little cutie. I have a real soft spot for Springers having had one for 6 years now (officially called Jedi but I call him Jed). I love their drive, energy, cheekyness and eagerness to please. I hope you are a good fit for each other and go on to write a new life chapter together. Sent from my SM-G930F

  14. Happy birthday Lenny!!! We all love you on here (no homo), that's what matters Things I don't like - the Qashqai I test drove today, more-so out of curiosity than anything else. Was surprised at how rubbish it was - lots of road noise (only slightly better than my Focus, and much worse than the new shape Civic), lots of turbo lag (throttle was binary - either ON or OFF), and even creaking power steering! Who knows, part of my brain is telling me to just get another (newer) Focus lol. They really are superb cars - I was so glad to be back in mine after the test drive!

  21. Winner that man. Thanks When i turn the nob i can here the left one moving but the right one keeps making that noise. Guessing the right one is buggered then as it does not react. Are these part of the lights or can i replace the motor?

  22. The topic about ELMs on a Mk1, and JW1982s reply referred to configuring the car using ELMCOnfig, and that software is indeed Mk2/2a only. Forscan has many diagnostic capabilities for the Mk1 Focus, and it uses the ELM327. A full ELM327 has the earlier interfaces (protocols) used by pre-OBD2 cars, as well as the CAN bus interface used by later cars. I have heard from several people using Forscan on a Mk1 Focus. It is certainly worth a try. But get a decent USB ELM327, eg the tunnelrat one in Russ's post. They are all clones of the original design, and the later, wireless ones are more likely not to have the full capabilities of the proper ELM327. The wikipedia entry on ELM327s is quite useful about all this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ELM327 One problem is that on a Mk2, the air bags will be on the MS-CAN bus, which is the second CAN bus that needs the "modified" ELM for access. How the air bag systems on a Mk1 are connected, I do not know. But it is still worth a try, and should diagnose most engine related faults. The Forscan download is free, and has been used by many, including me: http://forscan.org/download.html Regarding incorrect diagnosis, or not full picture, the limits are the software ( and the user!), not the ELM. The ELM327 is just a serial port to CAN bus (or other car bus protocol) converter. The software does all the real work. Forscan is the nearest you will ever get to the Ford IDS system used at garages. And that IDS system is far from perfect, I have read countless reports of garages getting it all wrong despite (or because of!) using the fancy software. The diagnostic codes are a vital clue, but no more than that, they are not 100% reliable or complete.

  46. Having had my drivers side mirror removed by a dear old lady - it exploded, the powdered glass was all up my window and I was left with a stump - I priced a replacement from Ford, cost of parts £350-ish. Nothing in the breakers, on fleabay I found a complete replacement, pattern, from Latvia for £116 + £28 p&p. Physically identical except that it doesn't have the narrow segement down the side, the wiring colours were different and the plug was 8 pin, the Mondy is a 12. Before I go any further my background is a control panel and systems designer, so wiring is something I've done a fair bit of. While I was waiting for delivery (10 days or so) I stuck a round blind spot mirror on what was left, better than nothing. Attached .pdf of wiring mods. Mondeo Mirror.pdf Tony
