Good stuff looks good doesn't it. Did ya get one with the senors or the normal one, at least you have a rear dome light to replace one with ha. Ford are a very strange company, some Focus's came with a rear dome light some didn't.2 points

in my experience it is not rare for the orange laquer on the indicator bulbs to start flaking off. Bit annoying. I prefer the old days of an orange lens and clear bulb. The orange bulbs just introduced the problem that did not exsit before2 points

Yup, I have had this ball joint off several times without any taper breaker tool. Once you have the technique it just falls off. First loosen the ball joint nut a few turns, then put a sturdy lever through the lower arm so that you can put a seperating force on the offending taper. A force equivalent to Mrs ScaniaPBman's weight on the end of the lever does the job nicely. Wallop the collar that the ball joint taper is held in, and bingo it releases. ScaniaPBman.1 point

Hi Dee, I bought a separator (the one that you put on and do the bolt up to pop it out) for £4 off eBay. In the end i didn't use it as my helping hand (ex HGV mechanic) just whacked the collar the ball joint goes through with a hammer, and it popped out before i could try it.1 point

Had exactly this issue earlier this year after changing injector seals.Camshaft sensor got slightly knocked in the process, stopping the car from starting whatsoever. Replacing that got it living again.1 point

If it was running ok before you dismantled bits of the fuel/injector system (apart from your original spasmodic boost problem) then, short of some rubbish getting into the hp pump, it's unlikely that a new problem with the pump has come into the equation. If there's irregularly "spurting" from the injector union when you cracked it then it still may indicate entrapped air. If you getting zero common rail pressure and it was ok before I'd revisit the fuel bleeding again (there's plenty of fuel in the tank and it runs without entrapped air when you manually prime the filter).1 point

I thought the additive level is done by counting the doses delivered (but see below). When the tank is re-filled, a procedure must be used to reset the counter. From your 1st post, this may not have been done, just clearing the code would not do it. Forscan should have a service procedure to reset the FACM counter. Although ideally the tank should be full when this is done, or it will eventually run out of fluid without indication, which will lead to the DPF getting clogged with unburnable soot. Unfortunately, it looks like the Lite Apps do not have the service procedures. Only the laptop version. See: http://forscan.org/comparsion.html So it may mean borrowing a laptop (with bluetooth so you can use your adapter), to try the procedure. Edit: I have looked a bit more, and seen a couple of references to a piezo level sensor. Whether fitted to all 1.6s, I do not know, but it looks like at some have it. It complicates the picture a bit, but the first things to do are still to manually check the level (which is not easy!), and try the reset service procedure. The best description of the system is: http://workshop-manuals.com/ford/focus_2004.75_07.2004/mechanical_repairs/3_powertrain/303_engine/303-04f_fuel_charging_and_controls_1.6l_duratorq-tdci_(dv)_diesel/description_and_operation/fuel_charging_and_controls_vehicles_with_diesel_particulate_filter_(dpf)/ A manual reset procedure using the fuel flller flap is described in Haynes, but it is rather complex, I am not sure I trust it! There is also a version of it here: http://www.talkford.com/community/topic/150061-dpf-additive-eolys/1 point

If the internal amplifier isint what your expecting which can be the case with direct replacement headunits; you can always bypass it by fitting a good brand of amplifier at a later date.1 point

Interesting, I was watching reviews and they say it is much better in terms of quality and the quietness. I am looking at the facelift of my is250 though with less mileage and the new headlights. [emoji6][emoji6] Sent from my HTC 10 using Tapatalk1 point

Yeah of course, it'll be in a couple of weeks like, trying to convince the other half of a purchase like this before payday is a hard fought fruitless effort haha.1 point

Yeah i figured this out last night, was a pain to finally do but once it connected it works like a dream, drains the phone battery something fierce though haha.1 point

many options for remap, revo, bluefin, mountune good reputable companies with experience, wouldn't go cheap as chips with a company who dont know what they are doing it will end up blowing up your car. i havnt done one myself but heard good things of the above three. im most likely to go with revo or bluefin in the future.1 point

I've got a 62 plate Zetec Fiesta and mine plays through bluetooth like a dream. To open it up to bluetooth, go to Aux, and keep pressing the Aux button until it allows for Bluetooth or gives you the option to choose devices. You may have to manually select your phone/ipod/whatever the first time however after that it should do it automatically.1 point

Recognising the healthy sprinkling of warnings there it is also worth adding that whilst you might get away with this method for cranks with keyed shafts it really would be asking for trouble on the Zetec given its floating pulleys. The reason is that without keyways the moment the bolt tension is released there is nothing keeping the pulley locked in place and so it is free to turn. The continuing rotation of the crank (even for a fraction of a turn) risks causing a collision with any open valves as the camshafts won't be turning with it.1 point

Good spot - thanks Peter. It's a bit ambiguous with the wording but it sounds promising!1 point

Oh, perhaps I didn't explain exactly what I meant. Let's talk about the front bumper for example. What I was asking about is, now that you have your bumper covered in tint on it's sides, if you want to continue wrapping it in the middle, how do you do it to look like it's one piece of tint? Just line the two tints together really close...?1 point

Apologies Banana Co; I just re-read that you said you were putting your reg in to the tyre sites and not the tyre sizes. According to the brochure (page 45) 195/55 tyres are the size supplied for the stock 15" wheels so I'd go with that and input the sizes manually to tyre sites.1 point

I noticed this when I first had the car also it seemed to have slight lag before it picked up revs from the accelerator pedal, I fitted a tdci tuning box as it about £80 and it solved it straight away car picked up revs very smoothly and no lag must admit with the six speed box 1st revs through the range too quickly I usually pull off in second to save wheel spin. I know some people dont rate them but been on my car over 18 months and two MOT passed with no advisories car has done 114K and drives like new. Look on ebay if your interested but I would not risk the really cheap ones. Hope this helps1 point

I don't like the idiot cyclist I encountered this evening whilst out in the 405! He was cycling along a straight road, looking ahead with both hands on the handlebars, so I checked the road ahead was clear and began to overtake him, only for him to suddenly (without ANY indication) swerve to the right to turn down a side road, putting himself directly in front of my car and forcing me to slam on the brakes and swerve to the left to avoid hitting him at 30MPH. Absolute flipping MORON!!! If I hadn't had my Mother with me in the car I would have followed him and given him a piece of my mind, but alas I did so I carried on and tried to ignore his stupidity. Why are cyclists not made to pass a test prior to being able to cycle on public roads? It's ridiculous! If I had hit him then I would have been at fault and prosecuted for it, despite the fact he was to blame.1 point

Lol this thread is like 2 years old mate ;) Since my last post in this thread, I've replaced the stock Ford 6000CD head-unit with an Android colour touch-screen head unit - I no longer have any whine. What I can suggest is that you turn UP the audio source volume (i.e. your phone's music volume) to near maximum, and then you can turn DOWN your head-unit volume, whilst still having the same amount of volume. This often helps reduce noise in most situations.1 point

If you check my guide link under my posts on a PC I have a guide for swapping the light switch unit itself so you will be able to get to the wiring block behind the switch. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk1 point

Hi Ledley. If you've still got the original rear lights then refit them. Try reverse again and see if the same happens. If it doesn't then there's a problem with the LED lights. If the beeper sounds then I'd take it to an auto electrician.1 point

Don't bother with either. The blufin commonly has running issues and causes limp mode, which will lead to them sending you multiple replacement maps and still not sorting it The Mountune map isn't a massive improvement power wise and is extremely overpriced. Stay well away from AETmotorsport as their customer service is ridiculously bad, their stage 1 caused me running issues and their stage 2 map melted piston one on my car. They buy their maps in too Revo have brilliant customer service, offer a switchable map with the SPS module and have some good smooth curves. They spent over 11months and 30k miles testing and developing on the 1.0. Puma speed have good smooth curves and have hit over 220bhp from the 1.0. Their customer service is good but slow to respond1 point

First thing I would do is make sure the sensors are all clean, start with the easiest thing first. Then put the car in reverse and check the reverse lamp comes on, their may be a short somewhere. I've been told, but never checked this, that the sensors can be heard 'clicking' when you engage reverse, you need to put your ear to them to hear it. If one is faulty then perhaps it will show up that way? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk1 point
