  1. I do like moving into my flat today and finally being free from my mother! I also like enjoying a glass of red and a cigarette whilst watching a great movie in said flat. Life is good...

  2. Before you go any further... what you are wanting to achieve with your standard headlights is very illegal, you will blind everyone and will void your insurance. If you wish to have Xenons on your car, you need to get projectors, and you also need auto leveling and head light washers. To retrofit the Titanium X factory headlights you will still need the automatic leveling and washers, and probably a completely new loom. Without these additions again your car would be very illegal, and your insurance would be void. The bulb used in the original xenons are D3S bulbs correct. However you wouldn't be able to fit an aftermarket kit easily as the ballasts are built into the bulbs, and there is an additional collar that will go around the bulb that is required to lock it into the Ford headlight.

  3. Hey guys thanks for the replies, for some reason I am not getting email notifications to let me know anyone has replied to this post :( Car is 2009 1.6 TDCi 110bhp DPF model. That's great news Albert about the mintex discs and pads, I will have a look at that now :) I guess it is going to be a process of elimination, I will start with looking at the pads and take some pics of the state of what its like up front and then check the brake fluid res out and maybe go for a bleed. Cheers fellas I will let you know what the culprit was

  4. api-presentation_1.6_hdi_carbon_issues-3-2.pdf here is some grim reading regarding early version of this engine, even though your engine is newer, I would strongly suggest they follow that to the letter, the last thing you want is them replacing the turbo only to find your new one jumps out the bonnet half way back home, as I understand it, warranties will not be honoured by the manufacture if they didn't followed the checklist

  5. Its very important with any turbo Engine that you service it very regular even more so with those that Mod. With Modern engines with these enclosed breather systems it can cause may carbonisation problems .The Turbo relies on relatively clean oil and clean filters( some turbo's have a small oil filter them self's ) to live a full heathy life>I change my oil twice a year with good quality oil(I don't use the cheep stuff because of the turbo). It woun't stop the seals going through age but the turbo will thank you for it. Its unlikely that your injectors/seals will have had any impact at all on the turbo itself. Its moe likely old nasty oil or just worn out with time (like me lol).When/if they change the turbo they will normally change all the turbo oil feed pipes/filter to as a precaution at the same time

  6. if the oil seals expired it may have just ingested all the oil, the colour of the smoke would have given it away, if it was oil expect it to be a white-Blue cloud, if the smoke was because of a lack of air, then expect it to be black. Sounds like you just burned it up, Id expect t he IC to be full of oil as well. the EGR I would personally suggest you just block it off, if you get EMLs on it then consider getting it mapped out or get a second hand valve, I personally wouldn't spend much or any money on it right now though. The DPF could be utterly caked in soot deposits from the burnt oil, whilst you can possibly clean it out with a regen it will just turn to ash which depending on the qty of the stuff, could still cause you problems. There are other services that can help a DPF such as an ultra sonic bath but depending on the condition of it, you may just need a new one, the fact you drove at all suggests that it isn't that bad so fingers crossed :) Earlier version of this engine had serious issues with carbonisation of the oil, lumps of crud blocking filters, starving the turbo of oil resulting in it blowing up. Smarter people on here will know better but I reckon its the turbo seals, if it is your quite lucky you didn't get a run away causing the engine to rev uncontrollably until it drinks all the oil and the engine seizes. if it is a seal I don't know if the turbo can be recon'd, but I doubt the garage will do any work at all on the engine if you don't replace it and have the whole engine flushed. there is a very lengthy process for dealing with turbo fails on this car, in some cases where this hasn't been followed the car has driven 100 yards down the road only for it to blow up again so make sure its done right!

  7. I have the sync2 unit in my Mondeo, as far as I am aware there is no difference in the installation if you have a sync3. I don't see any reason why the installation of the camera and wiring would be any different in your hatch, it is a PITA to do but well worth the effort. I'm pretty sure I made it more difficult than it needed to be haha Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  10. Hi All, thought i'd introduce myself before having a snoop around. I have owned a MK6 Escort Cabriolet for just under a year now. VERY nearly got rid of it but come to my senses and kept hold of it, i brought it with 53k on the clock, now on around the 56,800 mark. Looking to do a cam belt kit as i'm getting a bit of a squeak from the front so if anyone has any suggestions for a decent kit please feel free to drop a link. The car is pretty much how I brought it, i'm looking at changing the wheels as they aren't to my taste, fit a boot spoiler, change the rear lights back to standard and also try to find some different head lamps.

  12. I had the same 1.6TDCi engine in my old MK2 facelift... you've got away lightly. I had injector seal failure, and it took my engine out completely. Not fun when you take your key out and the engine is still revving at 10,000rpm+! If I'd known about these issues, and the some of the tips to keep these engines running before I brought it I'd probably still have her today.

  16. Does it simply sit on the face and create a seal when the TB is screwed down? Yes pretty well you can place some gasket seal on it too if you want usually doesn't need it .But I would as a matter of course fit a new gasket/seal

  17. A couple more simple touches done today Changed the hose on the washer jets Chris at paintmodz done a superb job on the key cover and shark fin to match the heated jets My old number plate was starting to fade don't think it was made properly so went with a nice short 3D gel one I did get the bonnet lifter kit from NBStyling but was missing a ball joint so couldn't fit it as off yet and got some braided brake lines in prep for upgrading the fronts to 4 pot brembos and rears to the 300mm disc kit :) all with tarrox discs and pads just awaiting a price and date some time in late June I believe, what colour to have the calipers is the question tho 🤔

  22. I couldn't imagine driving anything else over there. I haven't been to America since I was a child, but it would have to be my rental car of choice. Roads and parking spaces are made for them in the US. Its bigger than a Mondeo, so massively impracticable over here. I find the Focus too big to park.

  26. Evening all, My name is Thomas, I've got a 2003 focus 1.8 zetec. This is my first ford I've owned and to be honest it has been the most reliable as far. My family has always owned ford's and so have many of our family friends. Looking to, in the future, either tune up my focus (have seen many upgrades avaliable, throttle bodies etc) or perhaps look in to the ford probe 2.5 v6 as they are becoming rare but also have that slick sporty style. Anyway looking forward to all hints, tips, ideas and knowledge that I will undoubtedly find here. Thanks for your time

  27. Yes the module is plug and play. I did this the other week and is super easy to do. The module you want has a part number beginning with d1bt. That is 1.1 with applink. Example below http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/FORD-BLUETOOTH-VOICE-CONTROL-CONNECTIVITY-HANDS-FREE-MODULE-D1BT-14D212-CC-/132193934178?hash=item1ec75f5b62%3Ag%3Asa8AAOSwiDFYKyVM&_trkparms=pageci%3A12215e23-4689-11e7-a922-74dbd18054d5%7Cparentrq%3A6212ce5215c0a9c9b7e32082fffca0e1%7Ciid%3A4

  28. Yeh this video has the Euro RS with the 'option pack' but no mention of the Carbon Interior trim, or Race Red colour. Glad the exterior trims are matt finish, they look glossy in the US reveal video. If this pack goes with all colours I'd love to see it on Magnetic.

  31. You should be able to buy an extraction tool/bit from somewhere like screwfix or machine mate, removing the seat should only be a couple of clips, once that's done undo the other 3 bolts remove seat pop extraction bobbins onto the sheared bolt and hopefully wind out, As for seat trimmers try sg trimmers up on dolly lane, he's good and well priced did some stuff for me a while back Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

  36. GPS is the blue fakra cable unless you have this in your car already you can buy the GPS receiver on eBay for around £6 and that works fine the issue with the reverse camera is the camera itself has to be ntsc format not pal otherwise it will not respond to the satnav display and you can use the lead in the pic above to connect it unless you have the loom already in car. The black fakra socket on the back of satnav uses the black connector of the back of your stereo unit then you run another fakra lead from the pink connector of your satnav to the black socket on the stereo unit so you can receive dab and radio then you attach 2 wires from pin 6 and 12 of your display plug to pin 4 and 5 on your head unit for nav voice hope it helps

  37. I haven't done yet, I will be doing that though. I've taken some pictures along the way. I have the hatchback but I do have some information about doing it on the estate as well. The only thing missing, as it isn't OEM are the the white lines that move with the direction of the steering wheel. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  39. I'm not bothered mirrors being black just not 'glossy', would be better in matt or carbon. Shmee150 wrapped his roof matt black and I didn't mind it, but I commented on his video he should have wrapped the mirrors too. Yeh I'd have liked to see a dark & mean looking one, this RS500 style wrap does look stunning on the Mk3 RS, If I had the money for an RS I'd get it fully wrap protected, either clear or coloured. http://pwpro.co.uk/portfolio/ford-focus-rs-10#.WS30IWgrL-g

  44. yes, i echo what dee_82 says. I had one of those engines in a fiesta (90bhp version). because I knew of the reputation for oil starvation up to the turbo bearings I always did the oil changes myself using castrol magnetec 5/30 and a genuine ford filter. I wouldn't take any chances on the oil on this engine. If it was a non-turbo petrol engine I probably would not have cared.

  45. the 10W wont make much of a difference unless you live someplace very cold, it certainly wont be a problem this side of winter but the 40, on this specific engine might be problem, the 40 relates to a viscosity at 100c which as it happens is about the operating temperature of this engine. the problem is this car has some nasty side effects around the oil feed pipes for the turbo, a thicker oil will mean its going to be that little bit harder pumping oil around it, it also has a tendency to build up carbon deposits which will make the thicker oil even thicker. Personally, id be changing that as soon as possible but I wouldn't be too worried about it if you look after the car, change the oil before 12k etc. the next thing id do if I were you is get a couple of jack stands and a few tools and learn to do it yourself.
