  1. The stainless steel caps do only have aesthetic purposes. The wheel nuts from your link are for aftermarket wheels that require 60 degree tapered (cone shaped) wheel nuts. Despite being written in the advertisement these wheel nuts are not suitible for original Ford alloy wheels. I have this type of wheel nut on my aftermarket Anzio wheels and these are not suitible for my original 17 inch Focus MK2.5 wheels. The tapered seat of these nuts is simply too small for the tapered seat of the original Ford wheels. You need the following wheel nut design: This type of wheel nut (both original or aftermarket) is available in several different versions. Also be aware that Ford has changed the wheel nut design. in 2012 Ford introduced the new Global Wheels and Global Wheel nuts to reduce the different types of wheels and wheel nuts on all Ford models. Global Wheel nuts are not compatible with the old design alloy wheel. When buying wheel nuts you absolutely have to buy the correct type of wheel nuts for the wheels you have. Installing incorrect wheel nuts can result in loosing a wheel.

  3. You can also get deep impact sockets with a plastic cover to protect the alloy wheel thes will need to be 1/2 inche drive to fit the breaker bar that you need to buy as mentioned in previous comments

  4. I do like possibly picking up a couple of kittens later today. I am a very solitary person and don't need another human for company, but I have always grown up around cats and being without one on my own is really making me lonely and depressed. Hopefully that will change now.

  6. The procedure to change the CID number of the EVO+ SD-card is not that difficult. Gaining root access to the Android device is the first important step. If you can do this (or already have a rooted device) the rest should be no problem. I am currently working on a guide which describes the exact procedure I followed. However I do not plan to put my guide on a public website. I do not want other people to earn money by using a guide I made. When I finish the guide it will only be supplied to a limited number of enthusiasts that I trust.

  7. After a lot of research and experimenting I finally managed to make a working copy (for personal use only) of the Ford MFD sat nav SD-card. The Ford MFD system uses sat nav software that is developed by Bosch/Blaupunkt. The MFD system uses TeleAtlas (owned by TomTom) map material on a SD-card. The TeleAtlas map material is specifically encrypted for the Bosch/Blaupunkt software and is completely different from the map material of other TeleAtlas based sat nav systems. Being developed by Bosch/Blaupunkt the Ford MFD system uses the same copy protection as the old Focus MK2.5 Travelpilot FX system. The copy protection is based on the CID number of the SD-card. Among some other things the CID number contains manufacturer and product type identifiers, date of manufacturing and a serial number. Every SD card basically has its own unique CID number. The map material on the SD-card has the CID number of the card encrypted in the content. The Ford MFD system compares the encrypted CID number with the CID number of the SD-card. The SD-card will only be accepted by the MFD system if the encrypted CID number and the CID number of the card are a match. This copy protection is very good. Until today the encryption of the SD-card content is not cracked by anyone. Because of this it is not possible to change the encrypted CID number to match the CID number of a new SD-card. The only other way to bypass this kind of protection is to change the CID number of the new SD-card. However the CID number is a read only file that is written during manufacturing of the SD-card and can not be changed. Some Chinese manufacturers offer the possibility to order SD-cards with a custom CID number specified by the customer. However these manufacturers usually only supply large quantities. Many manufacturers also offer custom labels/stickers on the SD-card. My experience is that many Ford MFD SD-cards that are offered online by unofficial suppliers are not genuine. Last Year someone discovered that some Samsung EVO+ SD-cards contain a bug that makes it possible to change the CID number of the card. A lot of information about this subject can be found online. However this bug is only present on some of the EVO+ SD-cards. The latest generation of EVO+ cards do no longer contain this bug. Finding a suitible EVO+ SD-card is a bit of a challenge. Some people mentioned that the bug was also present on some other Samsung cards but I personally can not confirm this. Based on the EVO+ bug someone wrote the evo_plus.git program which makes it possible to change the CID number of the EVO+ card. There are some guides online that describe the evo_plus procedure. These guides are based on performing the program on a laptop with a linux operating system. The laptop needs to have an internal card reader that is connected to a PCI-E socket. USB card readers (internal or external) are not suitible. i read about this subject some time ago but because I did not have a suitible EVO+ SD-card I never attempted to try it out. Last week I ran into 3 previous generation EVO+ SD-cards at a large consumer electronics store. Despite being a gamble I decided to buy all 3 cards. Unfortunately my laptop turned out to have an internal USB connected card reader. After a lot of research I developed my own method to run the evoplus_cid program on an old android device. After a lot of experimenting I managed to succesfully change the CID of the EVO+ SD-card. This way I was able to make a perfect copy of the original Ford MFD SD-card. After testing the new SD-card turned out to be fully functional. Another advantage of the EVO+ card is that the read/write speed is a lot faster than the original Ford MFD SD-card. Because the system operates a bit faster. Especially recalculating routes during navigation is considerably faster. I used the following EVO+ SD-card: This class 10 micro SD-card has a reading speed of up to 80 MB/s and a writing speed of up to 20 MB/s. The micro SD-card itself is labeled EVO+ Model: MB-MC32D Model Code: MB-MC32DA/EU Made in Philippines. Newer generation EVO+ SD-cards which (mentioned by other people) do no longer contain the bug can be identified by a different packaging and a different text on the micro SD card. This class 10 micro SD-card has a reading speed of up to 95 MB/s and a writing speed of up to 20 MB/s. The micro SD-card itself is labeled EVOplus instead of EVO+. This post is for information purposes only. I only describe the technical possibilities to make a working backup copy of an original Ford MFD SD-card that I already own. This copy is only intended for my personal use which is completely legal.

  9. I decided the other day to put some Vinyl on the interior of my car for protection, he person who had it last must of let a wild animal loose on the inside because it was covered in scratches and gashes. Ordered some of Ebay and gave it a go after stripping the centre console out. First couple of attempts were utter crap....then I realised that it has to be heated to get around the funky corners. Luckily the guy on Ebay sent me the wrong one and lots of it....about 3 times the amount, 5 stars for him. I originally ordered some silver to go with the original interior but i think this looks kick *****. I also did it on the door handles which looks smart too. Ignore the state of the inside of my car, she's in need of some TLC in the next few days. If you've done the same I'd like a comparison and some other Ideas you might have for interior alterations. anything you think might look good.

  10. I know how that one goes @Tad0ms they are quite protective over their hair dryers lol. I think a small crafting heat gun might do the trick for small jobs and they are loads cheaper than the bigger guns. I plan to try it, when I can get a shot of one. Hydrodipping is for sure the way forward but obviously you have to be able to remove the bits first so it has its limitations. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  12. Part numbers that start with 3M5 or 4M5 do have green illumination. Part numbers that start with 7M5 or 8M5 do have red illumination. The first number of the part number prefix in rhis case stands for the Year that the part was introduced. 3 = 2003 4 = 2004 7 = 2007 8 = 2008 Be aware that not all MK2.5 parts are compatible with the MK2. The MK2.5 driver door window/mirror control panel for example has different connectors from the MK2 panel.

  13. It looks to me like you have the wrong socket there. You need a standard 19mm Hexagonal socket, not a 6 pointed socket (Inverted torx) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0001K9RVM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_dp_T1_saApzbQ2W5369 <- you want that instead heres the two socket types for comparison

  18. It is possible to install a universal dump valve but it needs to be an electronically controlled dump valve. Most universal aftermarket dump valves are vacuum controlled and will not work on a Diesel engine.

  19. The modern diesel engine and turbo spools up differently compared to petrol, In the modern diesel; the boost cuts back as the engine naturally gains the power required to maintain the cruising speed, I've saw this personally as I had a boost gauge fitted, the boost maxed at 22-24Psi then it slowly dies back to around to a steady 10Psi as the revs build up, Old skool turbos were either on or off with boost but the variable vein turbo doesn't produce excess unfortunately. Keep the money for a straight swap hybrid turbo from nbstyling or some LED lights even lowering springs or a nice rear spoiler.

  20. Ye i understand how a dump valve works as when you let off the turbo still spins. but I just wanted to know if I could add a universal one to the engine? By sounds of it its a no though? Lol

  21. A dumpvalve on a Turbocharged diesel engine like the 1.6 TDCI does not make any sense. Apart from the blow off noise it will not bring you anything (most likely only DTC codes and an engine malfunction warning message). A Turbocharged Petrol engine has a throttle body and a throttle plate to regulate the amount of air going into the engine. When the throttle pedal is released during shifting the throttle plate closes and the RPM of the engine drops. The suddenly closed throttle plate restricts the airflow to the engine and slows the turbo down. During that moment the dumpvalve (or recirc valve) opens to release the excessive turbo pressure. Releasing the pressure prevents the turbo from slowing down which reduces the turbo lag. Another purpose of a dump valve (or recirc valve) is to prevent damage to the throttle plate by the turbo pressure when the throttle plate suddenly closes. Most Turbocharged Diesel do not have a throttle body and a throttle plate. Because of this there is no technical reason to install a dumpvalve. If you still want to install a dump valve on a Turbocharged Diesel engine it needs to be an electronically controlled dump valve. Decent ones have their own control module which is connected to the eletronic throttle pedal.

  22. Further to what Stef said above re socket set, this has served me well....http://www.uktoolcentre.co.uk/Shop/p~145668~15406-1_2-Inch-Sq.-Dr.-Combination-Socket-Set-41-Piece.html and at a pretty decent price. Think i had to buy a 27mm socket separately but covers most on the jobs I've done so far.

  24. Hey all!! Been lurking this site the last week or so getting some help and tips. Decided to join today. I recently purchased a Mk2.5 Focus, I'm not sure the variant but was told Climate? Anyways, I'm always looking out for cool little subtle mods that will make the car look even better. I have a few things already on my list including 4 piece wind deflectors and upgraded bulbs (although I cannot find out if my foglights are H8/H11, as I've been told differently.. if anyone can help, please do) Cheers

  27. Tdci-peter is knowledgeable about canbus errors and may be able to help here. If the canbus is unreliable it can throw up all kinds of spurious faults. It might just be a connector needing to be re-seated or it might be the known issue with solder joints on the instrument cluster.

  31. Always invest in a extendable wheelbrace with socket as with these stock stubby ones we generally slip & round off nut or damage alloy. I would bray socket on then remove the nut. But thats my opinion you judge of your own mind. Thanks. Yunii Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk

  33. Just FYI, for anyone else finding this thread, Ford changed the way the ambient lights were powered in the MK3.5 facelift. On the MK3 the standard red lights are powered by the BCM so you might be able to just switch them on in central config if you have the cables present. On the MK3.5 both the standard red and multi colour ambient lights are fed of a separate lighting module. If your car wasn't built with any ambient lighting then even if you have the LED connectors, the loom going up the a pillar is wrong and the module is missing, so it won't just turn on with central config.

  37. I do like being able to rescue Molly with relative ease and a ladder from the house roof. Having got herself up there (which was a bit of a mystery in itself, there's no nearby trees to aid her!) she then started to mioaw loudly (cat shouting level of mioaw), when she couldn't work out how to come down. I also like being in Tesco in the salad, fruit and vegetable reduced aisle, when the merchandiser was doing the last reduction for the day, everything at 10% : 10 bags of leaf salads for 80p I would've got more but I can only get 10 bags in my fridge drawers. There were around 50 or so left Both the black 5L Mustang on the 66 plate and the blue Focus RS on the 17 plate were in Tesco's car park again.

A massive public thank you to our local Mod Ginger Flame for all of his help and his patience fitting the exhaust he had to my car, took about 12 man hours in total including the time he had to rip his apart after a 3 hour drive then put it back together getting nowhere. Car sounds amazing now and its getting a lot of attention, cheers Kieran!!!!
