  1. I do like that Pipper loves being groomed. She's quite happy to sit there and experience all the grooming brushes, combs and shedding rake. Brandy would tolerate her brush, but not for long and then she'd growl at the fur rake It's shedding time again, and for the past 2 days I've awoken in a cloud of spare fur: despite giving her brush before bedtime Pipper seems to shed more than Brandy ever did, despite being less fluffy This morning's stroll past the takeaways yielded a spectacular quantity of 2p and 5p pieces, looked as if someone emptied their bags of change on the way to the bank: rather than the normal dropped change. It's going to take some time feeding that into scan as you shop till, on my next trip to Tesco, where I usually dispose of loose change I would doubt that they're staff owned. In a random coincidence sort of way, I used to sponsor a pair of wolves called Thor and Luna, not in a couple sense (if wolves can be couples) but one male and one female, at separate wolf rescue centres

  2. It's not a problem on a petrol car because you have low pressure in the inlet manifold so they can be vacuum activated. Diesels don't have a throttle plate so don't have low pressure in the same manner. You could just lean out the window and shout "PSSSTTTTT" with every gear change. Its cheaper, and will do about the same for performance.

  3. They probably think they recognise you My like, well - likes...definitely plural... Whilst watching The Great British Skinny Dip (don't ask lol) - my other half suggested naffing off in the caravan for a few days (oh yeah, I bought a caravan a few months ago lol). Her daughter was away, so we thought sod it - perfect time to go!! Went to the Lake District for a week. Not only did I recoup my Caravan & Motorhome Club fees in discounts, but the site was lovely - basic, but lovely. We didn't let the weather dampen our spirits and loved the week away. However, no rest for the wicked. Got a phonecall Friday tea time - " Woody...we need to put in a coxswain for the Boat Handling on Sunday! Can you & Clare come down help me tomorrow? Guy (his son) said he'll do it." No problem, quite enjoy rowing. Until about 8pm..."Woody...They've f-luffed up!! We need a WHOLE TEAM!" So...we managed to find a full crew, they got about 3 hours practice yesterday. Today, conditions were terrible, they were up against a team taught by the lead rowing instructor for the area and generally weren't overly confident. They did the BEST rowing I've seen in my life!! I've been doing this best part of 20 years!! Everybody was astounded!! Mahoosive round of applause from everyone as they came off the water...they won :D Ohh yeah...and we have a new member of our family arriving soon... Freya - a German Shepard/Husky cross. She's coming up 8 weeks old, already showing that she takes after Mum - very clever, very placid, a little bit cheeky and gorgeous!! Dad is a HUGE GSD called Thor, Mum is a stunning Husky called Luna - we get to meet Mum next week, and hopefully Dad :D

  5. I'd chop it in and buy an ST line. Parts, and particularly paint and fitting, will cost close on as much as the difference in value. On top of that, insurers particularly dislike body kits so you'll get stiffed, if they'll even cover you at all, whereas the ST line is a a standard vehicle and won't upset them half as much. On top of that the modifications aren't easily reversible, so you lose you investment when you sell it, and the deviation from standard will command a lesser price if you trade it at a dealer, because the next owner will have the same hassles. Modifying a car is one thing. Trying to modify a car to resemble a different model in the range is rarely as cost effective as simply cutting your losses and buying it.

  8. I really wanted to mod a car as a little hobby , but as tastefully as possible. Looked around at potential targets and noticed some bargain Streetkas for sale. ...ok technically these are a 'woman's car' but that didn't bother me as I was looking for a potential and if you can look past the small wheels tucked away into the arches, crap headlights and jacked up appearance you can see there's a very well proportioned shapely little car here , just dying to be put right. So far I've fitted 17" MP3 focus wheels which I chose to suit the styling of the car. the rear wheels have 30mm spacers to fill those huge arches. angel eye headlights (Angel rings not wired up as tacky looking just wanted the deep dark modern headlight look) debadged grill with RS logo (debating whether that's good or not) Mini chrome air vents. Footwell lights. I also have led daytime running lights to fit near the spots and a front splitter. ive also ordered German side skirts (can't remember the name of the company) not sure what to do with the rear I have an fiesta RS rear bumper thing I might try to bolt under and put exhaust out of. cant really lower it, can lower the rear but not the front no room. i have Range Rover side vents was going to fit into the bonnet but again, afraid of tackyness. It's a hard balancing act when nodding a car to keep it different but looking as if it should have been made like that. nothing engine wise yet, but will probably get a slightly tuned Puma engine in there at some stage.

  10. It is possible to install a universal dump valve but it needs to be an electronically controlled dump valve. Most universal aftermarket dump valves are vacuum controlled and will not work on a Diesel engine.

  11. I was a teenager when the Escort Cosworth came out. I really wanted one, however I was still a legally a child, and just couldn't make it happen, I went to uni, started work, got married and started a family, and the cossie was just a distant memory. At the end of last year I got talking to one of the private vehicle sales guys at the Ford dealer, whilst picking up my van. And a few months later in April this year I took a Focus RS for a test drive. I was a teenager again. I really started lusting after a Focus, however being a grown up, my 5 series BMW was a much better fit for me. I'm picking my new Ice White Focus RS up Thursday.

I do like that grass stains in white fur come more easily than I'd imagined they would A damp cloth was all that was needed Earlier this evening Pipper decided to roll about in the freshly cut grass, about two stripes behind me as I cut it, covering herself in grass sap! By the time I'd finished, rather than being a liver and white springer spaniel: she's become a liver and a pale green springer spaniel

  20. Well done on the test pass. Top work. Nice motor, and very interesting adaptions. Following amazing my right elbow some years ago I don't have full use of my right hand so use a suicide knob in the 10 O'Clock position, though that's pretty mild compared to the clever adaptions on yours.

  22. There is a separate bulb and bulb holder that you can get from the dealer. Its under a tenner so not too expensive. You insert the long end of the strip through the small hole at the end of the recess in the dash then click it all into place then reach under and attach the plug into the led bulb holder then plug it into the rear of the long but. Hope that makes sense lol.

  27. I like finishing my exams (albeit nearly 3 weeks ago...), it's taken me this long to recover! Anyone notice I was gone for a while? Nice time of year this, summer is approaching and it's my 18th next Sunday. Haven't thought of much I want apart from a private number plate for the car which has been ordered, nothing too fancy, just E18 CRR (E is my lucky letter, if you can have those! 18 is my age and date of birth, CRR are my initials.) So looking forward to having that on the car! Apart from that, nothing very exciting has happened, just waiting for my results now to see if I get into my desired Uni... Cats look cute Jamie, but will definitely be a handful! We have 3 (although not related and 10, 9 (ish) and 2!) and they can be a nightmare but I love them to bits and wouldn't be without them. I'm sure they'll give you a lot of love!

  31. Part numbers that start with 3M5 or 4M5 do have green illumination. Part numbers that start with 7M5 or 8M5 do have red illumination. The first number of the part number prefix in rhis case stands for the Year that the part was introduced. 3 = 2003 4 = 2004 7 = 2007 8 = 2008 Be aware that not all MK2.5 parts are compatible with the MK2. The MK2.5 driver door window/mirror control panel for example has different connectors from the MK2 panel.

  34. The modern diesel engine and turbo spools up differently compared to petrol, In the modern diesel; the boost cuts back as the engine naturally gains the power required to maintain the cruising speed, I've saw this personally as I had a boost gauge fitted, the boost maxed at 22-24Psi then it slowly dies back to around to a steady 10Psi as the revs build up, Old skool turbos were either on or off with boost but the variable vein turbo doesn't produce excess unfortunately. Keep the money for a straight swap hybrid turbo from nbstyling or some LED lights even lowering springs or a nice rear spoiler.

  38. Why not just get an ST line? By the time Ford have ripped you off buying the bodykit (remember you have to pay to get it sprayed the same colour as your car), I bet the cost for the upgrade isn't that much different. Then you've got the alloys if you want them, which can easily get up to £600 including tyres. Infact I've just looked into it. Let's say your car is worth £10,000. You could just get an ST-line for under £12,000. You don't have to worry about fitting it, having incorrect colour matching etc. And there's the fact your car won't be worth as much. People will ignore the cost of the body kit when they buy it, so you just end up losing however much money.

  39. After a lot of research and experimenting I finally managed to make a working copy (for personal use only) of the Ford MFD sat nav SD-card. The Ford MFD system uses sat nav software that is developed by Bosch/Blaupunkt. The MFD system uses TeleAtlas (owned by TomTom) map material on a SD-card. The TeleAtlas map material is specifically encrypted for the Bosch/Blaupunkt software and is completely different from the map material of other TeleAtlas based sat nav systems. Being developed by Bosch/Blaupunkt the Ford MFD system uses the same copy protection as the old Focus MK2.5 Travelpilot FX system. The copy protection is based on the CID number of the SD-card. Among some other things the CID number contains manufacturer and product type identifiers, date of manufacturing and a serial number. Every SD card basically has its own unique CID number. The map material on the SD-card has the CID number of the card encrypted in the content. The Ford MFD system compares the encrypted CID number with the CID number of the SD-card. The SD-card will only be accepted by the MFD system if the encrypted CID number and the CID number of the card are a match. This copy protection is very good. Until today the encryption of the SD-card content is not cracked by anyone. Because of this it is not possible to change the encrypted CID number to match the CID number of a new SD-card. The only other way to bypass this kind of protection is to change the CID number of the new SD-card. However the CID number is a read only file that is written during manufacturing of the SD-card and can not be changed. Some Chinese manufacturers offer the possibility to order SD-cards with a custom CID number specified by the customer. However these manufacturers usually only supply large quantities. Many manufacturers also offer custom labels/stickers on the SD-card. My experience is that many Ford MFD SD-cards that are offered online by unofficial suppliers are not genuine. Last Year someone discovered that some Samsung EVO+ SD-cards contain a bug that makes it possible to change the CID number of the card. A lot of information about this subject can be found online. However this bug is only present on some of the EVO+ SD-cards. The latest generation of EVO+ cards do no longer contain this bug. Finding a suitible EVO+ SD-card is a bit of a challenge. Some people mentioned that the bug was also present on some other Samsung cards but I personally can not confirm this. Based on the EVO+ bug someone wrote the evo_plus.git program which makes it possible to change the CID number of the EVO+ card. There are some guides online that describe the evo_plus procedure. These guides are based on performing the program on a laptop with a linux operating system. The laptop needs to have an internal card reader that is connected to a PCI-E socket. USB card readers (internal or external) are not suitible. i read about this subject some time ago but because I did not have a suitible EVO+ SD-card I never attempted to try it out. Last week I ran into 3 previous generation EVO+ SD-cards at a large consumer electronics store. Despite being a gamble I decided to buy all 3 cards. Unfortunately my laptop turned out to have an internal USB connected card reader. After a lot of research I developed my own method to run the evoplus_cid program on an old android device. After a lot of experimenting I managed to succesfully change the CID of the EVO+ SD-card. This way I was able to make a perfect copy of the original Ford MFD SD-card. After testing the new SD-card turned out to be fully functional. Another advantage of the EVO+ card is that the read/write speed is a lot faster than the original Ford MFD SD-card. Because the system operates a bit faster. Especially recalculating routes during navigation is considerably faster. I used the following EVO+ SD-card: This class 10 micro SD-card has a reading speed of up to 80 MB/s and a writing speed of up to 20 MB/s. The micro SD-card itself is labeled EVO+ Model: MB-MC32D Model Code: MB-MC32DA/EU Made in Philippines. Newer generation EVO+ SD-cards which (mentioned by other people) do no longer contain the bug can be identified by a different packaging and a different text on the micro SD card. This class 10 micro SD-card has a reading speed of up to 95 MB/s and a writing speed of up to 20 MB/s. The micro SD-card itself is labeled EVOplus instead of EVO+. This post is for information purposes only. I only describe the technical possibilities to make a working backup copy of an original Ford MFD SD-card that I already own. This copy is only intended for my personal use which is completely legal.

  46. Lenny. I take it the dishwasher waste pipe is connected to the u bend via a tapered pipe which sticks out of it? The way to stop sink water from escaping that pipe is to undo the removable bit. Get some cling film and make a piece 2" square and about 3 or 4 sheets thick. Pace over the pipe and screw back on the tapered part which the dishwasher waste pipe goes on. Trust me it works. No need to buy blanking washers.

  49. It's dead easy to change brake pads and disks. Anyone that can do an oil and filter change can do this. It's 2 bolts to remove the caliper (sometimes one and a dowel). Just a case of not removing any brake lines and you won't have to bleed them, you may need a tool to compress the piston (just a plate with a bit of threaded bar that you screw in). You might want to use brake clean in the calipers and make them look decent whilst you're at it. Top tip! Apply copper slip to any of the metal pieces at the side of the pad to stop squeaking, and make sure you don't get any on the pad itself!! Spray some brake clean on the new disks as they come oiled (to prevent rust whilst sat on the shelf). Your old ones might need some love with a hammer as I assume they would have been on for w while. I usually leave a wheel nut on loose whilst I do this. I also usually apply some copper slip to the back of the disk attaching to the hub to help stop the disks rusting to it. Just a case of going in reverse order then. All you need to do when they're all done is push the brake a few times so the piston extends to the required length. Obviously I will have missed some stuff, but everything I haven't included should be common sense (like removing the caliper bracket to remove the disk.
