I've been playing with my Fiesta last month, changing all the interior lights in order to make them multicolor, as in the US Fiesta. I added LED strips in the front and rear footwell, I changed the LEDs of the lightguide on the dashboard and on the cupholder; I changed the LEDs of the dome lights, to make them RGB, adding a dome light with leds also on the rear. All the LEDs are independently controlled by groups (one group is the footwells, the second group are the LEDs on the dashboard and in the cupholder, and the last group are the dome lights), so that each group can be color matched (since they're different types of LEDs) to the others and independently set for the brightness. The electronics controlling the lights has been completely home made, it is connected to the BCM, so it senses when the vehicle is commanding the ambient lights and the dome lights. In this way I can turn on and off the ambient lights using the settings of the radio, as well as the lights switch to white and max brightness as I open a door or turn off the engine. I use a rotary switch close to the USB port to change color and brightness. Here's the result, hope you like it!2 points

So you've fabricated a tool to lock the flywheel to remove the head but then throw it in the bin?..2 points

Thanks focue, got this sorted a short while ago after stoney and lenny posted schematics and full wiring diagram of the whole car! With the aid of a multimeter for identifying things by myself also. Your input is much appreciated.2 points

The head gasket issues were mainly on early models mine was a November build and so far so good at 11k miles not using oil or water. Handling is everything you’ve heard sticks like s h it round corners irrespective of how fast or sharp they are. The ride is firm but far better than the fiesta st unless you use the track mode for suspension which is back breaking on normal roads. Performance is awesome you won’t be disappointed. The only downside is fuel consumption don’t expect anything over 30 even on a long run. Mostly around mid 20’s but lower when in sport mode so get a shell loyalty card and a large credit card balance but let’s be fair your not going to buy one for fuel efficiency are you Sent from my iPhone1 point

You should always isolate the battery when carrying out major jobs in the engine bay. The injectors are electronically operated so no battery = no fuel. Also no chance of accidentally shorting something out with your ratchet handle. You will need to put in the radio code and reset the one-touch windows after the battery has been off (very easy, just press and hold window buttons). In theory it shouldn't start, the engine ECU shouldn't be active without the ignition on so no fuel, plus the immobiliser shouldn't let it try to start without the key in the ignition (unless you've got keyless start!), plus I doubt we'd be able to turn it over quickly enough anyway lol! I must admit, I didn't take the battery off because I hate losing the audio, mpg and window settings, but that doesn't make it right!1 point

Upon returning from the local Ford parts desk, I don't like finding vegetable matter from the compost receiving/collecting bucket strewn all over the drive, with a trail of de-skinned tea bags and scattered piles of tea leading up the to lower lawn, with spat out egg shells pieces in a wide arc around a sleeping Pipper. Chopped up banana and avocado skins stick like the proverbial when they've been trodden flesh side down on the pavers! Pipper decided in my absence to get the egg shells out of the bucket, take them on to the lawn and chew them up. She doesn't eat them, she just shreds them and then spits them out. She also has a "thing" for de-skinning tea bags, carefully pulling the perforated paper bag off the used tea pile; breaking each tea bag into it's component parts.1 point

Haha, no, I gave the car it's first wash for months after the belt change, even walked an extra 5 mins rather than drive into a dusty gravel car park, so definitely haven't taken out any animals! I could understand if I was parked, but the chances of it dropping and hitting a car moving at about 50mph must be fairly slim, can't think of any other possibility though! Flywheel lock is 12mm, but you won't fit a whole drill bit in so would have to either cut one down or use a bolt instead. Cam sprocket is 7mm. Crank pulley is 5mm. Fuel pump is meant to be 5mm but isn't, this was even wrong on the Ford guide so not sure when the pump sprocket was changed, 6mm was a bit loose but doable, I reckon it was 6.5 or 7mm but didn't have one of those in what's left of my drill bit set.1 point

It was indeed fuse 109 under the glove box thank you!1 point

I've had this happen when parked and it was such a loud noise.... it was an acorn that fell out of a tree I concluded. Either that or the local squirrel population had taken offence at my parking and were chucking them! Had you run any over on the previous few miles?1 point

But, the fact that the fluid is low could indicate a leak somewhere in the braking system I'd keep an eye on it.1 point

Well, I'm on 1 year of ownership now & just put her through her MOT. The only things I've done is put fuel, oil (Oil stop leak too, seemed to work), some STP fuel treatment & injector cleaner before the MOT & a pair of new boots on the front. She passed with 4 advsories, Brake lines corroded, rear exhaust corroded, number plates in poor condition and a tire at the limit. My pug - I bought this old girl as a stop gap until I fixed that one, is still broken & quite honestly, is unlikely to ever be fixed, she needs a new clutch that's going to cost more than the whole car is worth, on top of an engine that I suspect has a dodgy head gasket, coil issues, timing belt etc. It's sat at around 75,000 miles & i'm considering scrapping it. My stopgap Focus, well, it's still going strong, I think I'll keep her going for another year, maybe even 2, or 3 or... Best stopgap ever.1 point

stop start light and traction control can iluminate when theres an unrelated fault present.1 point
-
Doesn't the stop start have to be reset after the battery has been off? Can't see anything they could've damaged for the traction control doing the cambelt though.1 point

Return spring on the pedal rubbing against the location it’s hooked onto? You could try a little (and I mean a little) grease where it rubs in the hole. Used to happen on my mk6 Fiesta & it irritated like crazy!1 point

:D My old man always used that point as justification for spending 12k on a new car instead of 5k on a decent used one. Never could get through to him that he'd never make up the 7k in road tax savings & better mpg!1 point
