You can also get Team Heko ones which are also ‘in channel’ ones. I think Climair or a little more expensive but not much difference to the TH ones, if any. Pros; Styling, No rain drips in when Window ajar, Leave Window down a little when parked, Eliminate the wind buffeting when the window open at speed Cons; Windows can take a bit of fiddling with to get them to stay closed -anti pinch, Extra wind noise while driving, clips can potentially scratch the window, Some people say it creates an obstruction in the field of view. I took mine off because I didn’t like the wind noise, I do miss the aesthetics though. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk3 points

Mrs P was looking to upgrade from her Focus Mk2 2.0 Zetec Climate and was seriously considering getting something nearly new and sensible with good fuel consumption until we found this Mk2 ST. As far as I can tell it's entirely standard. She has had 2 owners from new with 72,500 miles on the clock - the last owner had the car for four years and only covered around 3,000 miles a year. She appears to be in pretty good shape and runs incredibly smoothly. There are a couple of little jobs that need doing and unfortunately it hasn't got a heated front windscreen which I thought was standard. We'll probably be looking at keeping this fairly standard in the short term and then may take a view once we've decided whether we can live with the increased fuel costs!1 point

Not sure about traffic on Sync 2, but on Sync 3 traffic info shown on the map via the Live Traffic option set in the Ford Pass app which requires a connected phone with mobile data.1 point

I have also found some 'stick on' ones on eBay, which are more in keeping with the 206 ones. No idea what they're like, though, but I prefer the look on the car https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FORD-FOCUS-HATCHBACK-5-DOOR-MODEL-MK2-2005-2011-WIND-RAIN-DEFLECTORS/183161109311 May give these a go first as they're cheap1 point

I do like the Impact side of the Named colour. As you can see from my avatar I have this colour and it is a great colour. Next colour Head on Blue, Broke down Blue, No Handbrake blue, Close shave blue. oops blue.1 point

I love mine in this colour but lord, its an absolute pain to keep clean. It shows every little smear and water mark going (maybe having sliver cars for the past few years has hidden a lot of sins).1 point

Hi Peter and Tom Many thanks for the prompt replies. Its off to the mechanics this morning so hopefully these issues can be resolved quickly. The also car suffers from water ingress into the spark plug chambers so I'm not sure if this has caused some issues related to misfire/performance issues as well. The info you have supplied is really useful as it will help me explain the issues to the mechanic. Thanks again1 point

I agree with Tom. 2006 is the classic year for the Focus Instrument cluster (IC) bad solder joint problem. It can be a very cheap fix, I just re-soldered a few joints. A Ford dealer will replace it with a new one for at least £800. Putting in a 2nd hand one is not a good option as it has to be programmed to match the ECU and your keys. Repair is the simplest option. Reading the codes with a good, Ford specific system like Forscan may show lots of U codes, these are communication errors due to the bad joint. The engine problem sounds unrelated, though there are possible links as a lot of information for the ECU passes through the IC. So it is worth reading the codes and getting the IC fixed first. I did a PDF on my IC problem, there are several YouTubes on it also. It is here: https://www.fordownersclub.com/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=404911 point

I would say the instrument cluster needs fixing before anything else, it's a common issue on these as the solder breaks. The immobiliser runs through it which is why it affects starting amongst other things. Won't be causing the misfire though, as coils, plugs and leads haven't fixed it, I'd suggest getting the fault codes read before trying any more parts.1 point

After the Latmobile being buried up to her bonnet in snow a couple of weeks back, I had discovered the dreaded 'ice on the inside of window' irritant. I'm now left with an annoying watermark all over the interior windscreen. Cleaning the inside of a windscreen is perhaps the most hated task I ever have to do, I have been known to leave slight marks on the inside just to not clean it, but this is faaaaar too annoying...and distracting. Any recommendations for an easy to use (and we're talking VERY easy to use that requires MINIMAL elbow grease!!) product that delivers great results (with minimal streaking!) Another option is if anybody can do it for me.......Not asking too much am I....1 point

thanks mate yes all the radio console and steering wheel was myself and i bought some gel overlays for the vents that just stick on. if your going to spray them i will recommend sanding down the radio trims then prime, paint then gloss clear coat.1 point

For about a year now I've been getting the odd Immobiliser active, low battery, poor starting but never quite failing Head unit would keep forgetting attached phone. Everything solved by a new battery. Even though when tested they advised that nothing was wrong with. Found out that the battery was 7 years old.1 point

Even in colder weather folk should run their AC for a little while every 2 weeks or so as apparently the gas has a sealing agent and helps keep it all sealed up for when you really are wanting it.1 point

Lol, I don't know how screens end up so greasy on the inside...how hard is it not to touch it? Though that said, I'll never forget a Mk1 Mondeo my Dad bought used...footprints on the screen, stiletto marks in the roof and a recorded casette of R.Kelly - Ignition Remix in the stereo...1 point

Just get a new screen tbh, that ones ruined now! Trouble with windscreens on newer cars is that there's so much dashboard in the way and you have to try and get in awkward positions to clean it. I just use a supermarket glass cleaner but some people say that they leave a film on the screen and to only use car specific ones like AG Fast Glass. Also make sure you've got a lint free cloth, fluff everywhere is nearly as bad as streaks!1 point
