I was looking out my window taking some pics of the garden when, out of the corner of my eye I saw an aircraft. Turned the camera to it and realised it was the BBMF (Battle of Britain Memorial Flight) Dakota (DC-3/C-47). I've never seen it before over my way and it was a chance find. *Edit - It wasn't the BBMF one as it had the American Star on the rear with the D-Day invasion stripes.3 points

Yep, it is based at Conningsby and I have been to the museum (abeit about 27 years ago). My brother was an engineer there in the 80s and early 90s. He took me to the museum with a few friends for my birthday and, as a special treat, I got to go on-base and see the Tornados up close and even sit in one whilst maintenance was carried out (the cockpit was minus the ejector seat for safety reasons).2 points

Yes, I've also seen a Dakota near home - didn't catch the markings though. Don't know if we're on a flight path for BBMF testing or something, but I've also had Hurricane, Spitfire and the Lanc sneak up on me in the last few years😀 Keep seeing more and more appearances by USAF F15-Es from Lakenheath in last few years as well - very noisy beggars!2 points

I think I might need a new wheel bearing. Recently been hearing a drone that starts around 30mph and it starts to sound louder than the engine. I have done some research not all is clear. I have moved tyres from front to back to rule out the tyres and it still happens. Tomorrow I'm going to jack it up and do the spin test. I do have a light noticible clunk on the nearside wheel but have not had the symptoms described. Is it correct that if you turn right and the noise increases then it's the left bearing and vice Versa?1 point

Hi all, My names Jack - I've lurked these forums for years now having owned multiple fords... Decided to register since these forums have helped me so often I wanted to thank you all. Just bagged myself a 56 plate Mondeo (so the much less problematic version of the MK3) with only 65k on the clock, so I'm quite pleased to have a good runner I can look after and get a lot of miles out of! Anyway that's all from me for now - thanks again to everyone who's helped me indirectly by being helpful to others on these forums!1 point

Hello 🙂 I'm not new to Ford, I've had a few over the years, I've just sold my 3.2l Ranger Limited and am picking up a 2019 Ford Transit Courier Sport on Friday. The new van has a few extras and upgrades on it but I'm already looking at what I can add to it in the coming months. Any suggestions, pictures and links to where to buy stuff gratefully received. The only thing I can't do with it is lower it any more than it comes out of the showroom, the joys of living up a farm track.1 point

Yeah all done in situ mate. That kit is for the normal wheel bearing types, where the hub is seperate.1 point

And it’s still attached so I done something right 😂 just done another 2 of them today.1 point

Thanks for the clarification mines must be worse then cos it does it straight also I will double check with spinning it in the air and look at everything else. I have looked at guides on changing them that would involve a hydraulic press or a set of tools that cost about £60 so it probs easier to get the local mechanic to do it.1 point

Your right in saying if your turning right & the noise increases then it’s normally the passenger side (and vice versa). I had a very slight noise like driving over a rumble strip when turning right yet totally quiet on the straight or turning left. It was really only when STEF123 changed the passenger side hub/bearing that you could definitely hear the roughness.1 point

Yep, it was jammy. All my friends had to wait in the museum. My brother had special permission from his CO to let me into the hangar and have a look round. Tattershall Castle is lovely and I visited Cadwell park on many occasions for bike racing with my best friend (sadly no longer with us), his dad and sister. Damn, I'd love a taxi ride in a lanc. The Canadian one (VRA) actually takes passengers on flights in it.1 point

I was at Conningsby for a short while during my RAF career and the memorial flight is based there. I was privilleged to be able to get up close to the planes on several occasions. Never got a chance to sit in any of them unfortunately [emoji53]. Sent from my SM-G965F (S9+)1 point

Theres no point laquering after you've polished them, it defeats the point. If you want to laquer them then rub them down with some wet and dry to remove the hazy ness, spray some thick coats of laquer on them and do your wet sanding, compounding/polishing after that.1 point

My 2017 Tit x has sign recognition and doesn’t display speed limits on sat nav. I use waze or apple maps both have speed limits displays Not a fan of the sign recognition as it sometimes displays no limit or picks up the stickers on the the back of foreign lorries I have seen speed limits of 110 on my display! Do you think I could use that as a defence if I get stopped for speeding😂😂1 point

I don't think I've ever had an insurer quote me a renewal (after no claims) cheaper than the last year. It's ridiculous - so much for loyalty paying off!!1 point

Hi Alan, I think when you disconnect the battery you have to reset the windows. This page is for a Mondeo but I’d imagine it’s the same on a Focus: https://www.fordwiki.co.uk/index.php/One_Touch_Window_Reset Hope that helps1 point

All done 🎉🎊 changed the slip ring for one from a facelift and now everything works perfectly. So for anyone else wanting to do this ( the facelift wheel is so much nicer ) if you have cruise control you need to change the slip ring, if you don’t have cruise then you don’t 👍🏻👍🏻1 point
