  1. Had a brief (30 mins) test drive in the new Puma this morning and thought I'd post a few impressions, in case others may be interested. Reasons for my interest: - Find the Fiesta a bit tight for space in some ways, but don't want to go back up to a Focus-size car if I can avoid it, the Puma is about half way between the two - my Mrs has medical issues which mean a bit higher access would be helpful - Intrigued as to how the mild hybrid operates - an ST version is rumoured, which hopefully will be a bit easier going than the Fiesta ST The test vehicle was an ST-Line X First Edition 125ps mHEV in mystic red. From the outside: still don't think it's a "looker", but definitely better in the metal and I think it will be quite sensitive to colour Interior: all would be familiar to a Fiesta Mk 8 or Focus Mk 4 owner. Fit and finish seemed ok, the odd softer feeling surface but the hard scratchy door pulls remain. Very much preferred the darker blue shade used on Sync (3.4?), and pleased you can display date/time on an otherwise blank screen, which my Fiesta (Sync 3.0) won't. Instruments: TFT instruments on this version, found them a bit hard to read tbh, though the big digital speedo was clear enough. On first impression, to me, not as clear as the conventional display in the Fiesta/Focus or the equivalent TFT set up in VW/Audi/BMW etc, though I will reserve final judgement as I wanted to spend the time driving, not configuring the displays. Driving: well, as I expected, it's like a slightly higher Fiesta with 100-odd kg more weight, so a bit more comfortable ride-wise, but not as nippy feeling in the corners. The various modes allow different weights to steering, but I left it in normal and it was fine. Clutch on the test car felt quite heavy, but smooth and progressive, and gearchange felt tighter and more "mechanical" than my Fiesta. The mHEV system is supposed to boost bottom end torque but can't say I noticed anything, the gauge showing energy flows is quite entertaining though. Certainly no need to fear anything feeling "different" from your normal petrol or diesel. Performance overall felt pretty pedestrian to me, though it kept up with 70 mph traffic on a dual carriageway perfectly well. I mentioned the performance when I got back, and asked if the modes would have made a difference, but the sales guy said he'd tried it all ways and it didn't seem to make much difference. I didn't bother checking out the boot etc as there's loads online about the clever box feature found in the mHEV versions. The i/c only versions can have a spare, and the sales guy said he'd been told they were already making some changes to permit a spare on mHEV also. So, as expected, didn't come away feeling "wow, gotta have it" but I did think it was a very competent, comfortable and easy to drive car and I can see a lot of people liking it. The dealer reckoned the ST version was a virtual certainty for later in the year, so I will certainly be taking a look at that.

  3. Years ago I fitted Poly bushes throughout my old MKII Escort RS2000, worst idea in the world, made the ride so harsh and felt every bump, after 6 months I ditched all of the poly bushes and refitted rubber bushes, the joy of a smoother ride was great.

  4. Clutch doesn't sound right, mine is very smooth, I'd have that checked out under warranty. Revs momentarily rising on upchanges has been widely reported and is apparently "normal". I wouldn't even have noticed it on mine until I saw it on here, looked at the rev counter when changing up, and noticed it briefly flicked up. If yours is very noticeable, or revs take a long time to drop, that doesn't sound quite the same though.

  5. Little scroats throwing a swede at a Police car, that was in my neck of the woods. Let's forget cruise control for a minute and consider the ones that threw the swede. It was up until now common practice for bored town teenagers to stand on an over bridge and play Pooh sticks with a concrete block but a lot of these teens are so weak from a diet of supermarket processed food and so malnourished that they can no longer lift a 25 kilo breeze block now and can only manage a 2 kilo swede. Round them up, put them in stocks and pelt them with tomatoes.

  7. I know what you mean. I spent the extra got full LED upgrade amazing light output.

  8. All my 2020 Fiesta above trend will have LED dipped beams inside the projection with auto level that you will find the switch on the rear beam passenger side. Also one way to tell is there is no levelling switch on the middle of the headlight switch. Full Led had 4 lights 2 low to high beam with dynamic indicators I hope that helps

  9. Well it won't be helping the situation much if people are using cruise control like that but I suspect the main reason for more accidents is just people driving with no consideration of the conditions, following way too close, using their phones or intoxicated plus the fact that the police are nowhere to be seen, unless they are all in unmarked cars these days and people who are stupid and irresponsible enough to do all those things do not feel they will be punished for them. I drive about 20 miles or so up the A1M from just North of London every day and I'd say 80% of the drivers are just following 2 or 3 car lengths apart at 70mph. WTF people feel the need to do that for is beyond my understanding. Should be more like 100 metres at that speed not less than 15 like most are doing. Plus I must see at least 10 drivers using their phones, If I can see them why the F can't the Police? It's also about time that being caught whilst using a phone is a minimum 12 month driving ban, phone crushed and any repeat offenses Imprisonment. The current 3 points (or is it 6 ?) and fine is clearly no deterrent. Yep I'd agree, bring back the Birch for some of these crimes. Naked in the stocks in public view and birched until they understand you can't just do anything you like for fun if it has dangerous consequences.

  10. I've hit two potholes in the last month - both times bad enough for me to pull over and check the wheel expecting damage! Fortunately there wasn't any either time, and the car still drives straight, but it's frustrating that the roads are in such a bad state when it's dark and you can't see the damn things coming It'll be interesting to see if the tracking's out when they check it at the next service service in April...

  12. Powerflex nylon bushes belong on one type of car and that's a Rally/Race Car and not on a road car, avoid fitting these as they'll also transfer more shock to further standard rubber bushes, if you are intent of fitting nylon ones, you really need to go the whole hog and ditch all other rubber bushes with nylon bushes. I'll leave my shockers/springs/top mount alone. I've chatted with a ford dealership and he says all Fiesta's as well as other Fords suffer from bush failure.

  13. Hi Everyone - I live in Durham and have been into cars as far back as I can remember , my Ford is a 2008 Mondeo Sport Estate, I’ve had it since new, I have changed from a bloke who was changing cars every few years to holding on to this one till it dies ! It is without doubt the most reliable car I have ever owned, the only jobs that have been done in 11 years, is to re joint the Turbocharger oil pipe work , replace the exhaust hangers, refix some of the heat shields & replace the power steering filter. The car I just over 11 years old so I will be using this Forum to help out with any age related problems. in addition to the Mondeo I also own a Morgan Plus 8 and I’m in the process of doing a ground up restoration on a 1961 Alvis TD21 cheers Alan

  14. They do it for two reasons: 1) The bantz 2) absolutely no consequence to their actions. if they do get caught it's a slap on the wrist and some bleeding heart social worker. You do see some of the kids where they've either done something really bad, or it's happened by accident, and they look amazed and horrified that this time it might be serious.

  15. Although more expensive I usually buy Ford parts. Many would buy a cheaper after market alternative if available 👍

  16. Would have to be Vignale for me... As someone mentioned above, the ST-Line X is still just a poverty ST-Line with a few additions, Vignale is the 'full' luxury package... Of course if you're more interested in looks and sporty handling than spec and lux, then the STLX may be for you! Or as Stoney says...just go for the ST!

  18. If you’re going to fit poly bushes be prepared for a hard ride.Comfort levels are seriously reduced. On the plus side is you’ll be able to grip corners with confidence on a spirited drive if you are that way inclined 👍

  19. Morning Ian, I agree with you I don't think there is a way of telling if it's had it or not and you can only go on what they tell you. I was thinking of getting the powerflex ones I know they are a bit more expensive but thought they might be better. Is it worth getting the n/s/r shocker, spring and top mount removed and refitted do you think?. It just seems unlikely as like yours they were only replaced recently and what's chance of anything been faulty. I'm hoping between us we can get it resolved for both of us!. Thanks for sending video aswell 🙂

  20. That's right. It's best to try and keep the dealer onside if you can, perhaps raising it with the service manager or dealer principal if not happy with response at the service desk. You could ask for a drive in their demo car and let them try and prove yours is normal. If no progress, you could involve Ford customer services.

  23. I have st line xl 182, I do like it but I'm likely to go vignale next time after seeing one at the dealers. I'm too old for noise and frankly even in 182 form it's not fast enough to deserve the noise. And I will never understand the point of fake piped noise. Visually I like the more muscular stlinex but also the more flowing vignale. I like the way the vignale exhaust is moulded into the bumper. If you're PCP the stline will likely be cheaper monthlies as it holds value better.

  24. The bellhousing was a direct match to the IB5. I have not done any ECU tweeks although I would love to adjust the throttle whilst at low rpm in 1st gear as it can be a bit jerky when you are on and off it at 1500rpm ish. I have an aftermarket ECU going on very soon once I finish making the adaptor loom out of a old ECU. https://photos.app.goo.gl/hWEnZato1DE3akgb9 https://photos.app.goo.gl/hnMGHjPSV6eoHUb46

  25. This is how the conversation goes when it comes to designing most things in our house. Mrs Turvey: Come to the bathroom shop and help choose a suite. Me: No point, you'll just go for what you want. Mrs Turvey: But you have to have some input! At the bathroom shop. Me: I like this one. Mrs Turvey: But this one is better because..... Me: Ok, we'll get that one then. Mrs Turvey; But only if you like it. Me: Yeah, I suppose. Mrs Turvey (to the assistant) We'll take this one! 🙄😃

  26. What I did was clear the trunk and back seat out of the car and let some one else lay in the back en listnen to pinpoint where the noise is coming from. With my car it was clearly coming from under neath the backseat (only thing there are the rear beam bushes) so I think 1 and 1 is 2. And indeed the one where noise was coming from was a lot more dried out then the other side and also a lot more flex on it.

  27. Hi Ian, Nice to hear from you!, wow it seems we have the exact same issue and it is very annoying on what is otherwise a great car. I've had reassurance that the axle bushes are ok and like you the shocker, spring and top mount plus isolater are all new. I haven't checked the interior to your level but have a feeling there is no issue there and it's something else. I'm thinking one of the new components is faulty but don't want to throw more money at it for nothing. I wonder if it's worth asking the garage I use now to take it all off and re-fit and grease it all up?. It just seems unlikely a new spring, shocker or top mount is faulty but it can make a noise on the smallest bump or dip in the road so seems more apparent on man hole cover type or small succession of bumps in one go. Cheers Simon.

  29. Room 4 done! The 'main' bathroom, even though it's the smallest one in the house, was needing a bit of an update. The shower used hot water like it was going out of fashion, the shower drain was nearly at the stage of falling out of the shower, the extractor fan didn't work etc etc Just the usual strip everything back to the plasterboard and renew everything. Taking the tiles off proved impossible so it was easier to just pull the plasterboard off. The pipework for the sink had to be rerouted to exit the wall as opposed to the floor. Soundproofing insulation was packed into the wall, and covered with 2 layers of plasterboard. Old extractor was removed leaving big hole, decided to add another layer of plasterboard to the ceiling and taped and filled it. Quicker than filling the hole and skimming over a couple of times. Next room has been started 🙄 just a spare bedroom, so nothing too exciting.

  32. On the above linked post from 2016... I fixed itself when I replaced the two fronts as a pair, typically had a side wall puncture on the good one so replaced them both. After that no problems in the wet. I guess their must have been a size difference between them that was just enough to throw it out somehow As to your problem, I've had similar issues in the past with minor systems causing major faults. I had a number of turbo faults at one point ,some of which where resolved by fixing a stuck cruise control button. As Peter said, it's possible it's just shoddy ford programming. That or it's intermittent and just waiting for an appropriately sharp bend to knock it out again! 🙃

  34. A short guide to show you how to fit the 'Ford Power' push start button to a 2008- Ford Fiesta (Mk7) *This will not replace your key It will only work when the key is turned to stage 2 What you will need: Push Start Button - 1459645 Push Start Plastic Bezel - 1574152 Push Start Aluminium Look Bezel - 1667755 12V 30Amp Relay Soldering Iron & Solder Red & Black 5Amp Wire 10A Fuse & Holder Wire Strippers/Crimps Pliers Spade Connectors To Suit Relay Torx Driver Decide where you would like the button to be positioned First position I had it Then I moved it to here (Pretty hard to cut, BE WARNED!) First I removed the stereo Pull up screen surround from the front Unscrew 2 T25 Torx screws and 2 hex bolts using a 7mm socket Remove 'secret compartment' and then pull stereo out and upwards Remove steering shroud Undo 3 T25 Torx screws

  35. Considering this guy has took alot of time to make a picture by picture log of how to do this for any people interested, i find it quite foul that the first few posts SLATED this guy for doing this mod to his car, which he is clearly very happy with. This is meant to be a helpful forum and this guy has posted this to be just that, so by taking the P*** out of supposed "fellow fiesta enthusiasts" ppftt is beyond me. Great job, its aftermarket so its obviously not going to do what the £400 option would cost, or everyone would be doing it. Good work fella !

  36. Hello overnight someone stole a part of my rear bumper , I need a replacement but don’t want to spend a fortune on a brand new genuine ford part , i have looked on eBay for an after market but they say the one I want isn’t compatible with my model which is a 2015 1.5TDCI titanium the ones I’ve seen say they are for the petrol versions just need some advice of what’s best thing to do any ideas greatly appreciated

  37. Made some nice burgers today 😋. What sadly ruined it was I was unable to chew them as my teeth now have started to hurt from the hard bits. Took me about an half an hour just get to one and a half after getting fed up. The back teeth were feeling saw after trying to just break pieces of the bread crumb. Can't believe how tough it is just having braces on
