Footwell water

I am having problems with the driver side footwell filling with water, when it rains. I have lifted carpet and dried area out, but can't see any obvious signs of where water is coming from (apart from sky!!). Any ideas???????

Not sure if it applies to your case as it is winter, but on new smax/galaxy there were many reports of aircon pipe being fitted incorrectly on earlier models, which resulted in water in the drivers side footwell.

Ah, I see you are from Germany, for you it should be passenger footwell (unless you drive a RHD car), sorry. Looks not to be your problem.

I am in Army in Germany,so it's still a RHD. Haven't got Aircon,so not the problem. Thanks for suggestion though!

Check the area under your windscreen is clear, ie there will be a grill where water/debris can fall down, if this is filled with dead leaves it eventually rots and blocks the water "drain point" so the water ends up collecting and eventually drains into the cabin area. ( had the same problem on a cavalier and took ages to find out what it was )

if the above does not cure it there is the rear washer pipe that runs alongside the footwell under the trim, it has a joint that can also leak water into the footwell.

the left hand side, need to lift off sill trim and lift carpet to access

if its that then the under carpet sound deadening has to come out as well, it soaks it up then stinks the car out, its in one piece to make it awkward . so to prevent having to take centr console out etc etc;

i cut it along the trans tunnel, pulled it out and hung over washing line to drain overnight then hung it up in work for a week in our boiler room to dry it out

then superglued the pipe in place and even lockwired the 2 joins!!
