Hello Ford People, I haven't owned a Ford for a while, Last one was one of the first Mondeos and before that a MK2 Cortina, and the wife had a Focus CC3 for a while, but i'm in the market for a new car and like the look of the New Kuga, so will be looking for help on the relevant forum pages.

anyway i'm a young 53 or is that 35 (dyslexic with number when it comes to my age ;) ) i'm married no kids 2 dogs love anything automotive ( 9 cars currently but looking to downsize with the Kuga replacing 3 )

I work in car insurance (dont hate me someone has to do it ;) )

enjoy Caravaning mostly at car shows, classics, Hot rods and customs but if its got an engine i'll probably like it.

anyway thats a bit about me, onto the kuga forum pages to ask some questions ;)

Welcome to the forum Eamonn,

When you get a moment join photobucket and upload some images of your motors, You can then edit to remove your reg plate etc. Then copy the .img code from each image uploaded and paste it on to a post in the forum or many forums for the image to display. You may also like to log on to DMB Graphics for some Gel badge overlays to fit over your existing blue ford badges or vintage ford decals:

http://www.dmb.uk.com/cat/22/ford-badges-gel-overlays

You may also like to browse my list guides all linked below this post, most of the guides are available in PDF format to download and print aswell as viewing online, my guides have been performed on a mk2.5 but some will be 100% compatable on your motor.

thanks for the welcome Guys, not so sure you'll want to see my other cars ;) none are Fords, although i have owned some pretty interesting Old Fords in my past,

current fleet is

1955 Bedford CA Truck (co owned with my Dad who used it in his business till retirement)

1972 Morris Marina Coupe 1.3

1972 Morris Marina Coupe 1.8

1989 Bentley Mulsanne S

1991 Mitsibushi Pajero SWB

1998 MG MGF (Wifes Fun summer car which i like to drive ;) )

2006 Peugeot 1007 Dolce

2007 Peugeot 1007 Sport

2012 Peugeot 508 SW

& about to order a new Ford Kuga which will replace the 2005 Peugeot and 1991 Mitsibushi. I'm also thinking about selling the Bentley and buying another American motor, as for the last 30 years or so i have always had an American car or two till i got the Bentley (for a change, ready to go back to a Yank again now ).

and Dangerrsford, i get a great deal with Staff discount ;) but will get a quote when i get the Kuga just in case ;) oh and i dont wear a mask at work... Hoinest lol

lol yea one for every occasion eh?

i need to downsize the fleet really, dont use them all enough, and having to rent 2 garages to store 2 of them is money that could be spent elsewhere ;) and my wife has said no more cars till I sell some, so thinking of selling 3 replacing with just 2, for now anyway :)

not sure which gearbox to get in the Kuga Auto or Manual? think i've made every decision for options etc just the gearbox to decide, anyone know what either box is like to tow?

as for the box, I would be tempted by the auto - but it depends if you are more after performance or just pleasant to drive.

I was an avid protester against gearboxes (my argument was always "I will NEVER drive a car that tells me when to change gear and stops me driving MY CAR!!!!") however, the powershift in Fords gives me the best of both :D when I was looking to change cars from the Cee'd I looked at a lot of MPV motors (apologies for swearing but I contemplated the Zafira, Citroens, Seats and the whole range. The CMAX was the first I looked at, but as I heard it was accident damaged, I didn't jump to it... In the end the others just didn't have enough of a gearbox and were all out of my price range. But "Semi Auto's" and "Auto's with 1 and 2 gear" just where not what I wanted...

I am glad that I took the dive on it... It wasnt very nice to me in the start, but its playing nicely now, and I wouldn't look back to the manual world as long as there is a good enough powershift :D - its never going to be a racing car, but it will do what I want it to.

Thanks again people, the more I think about it the more I'm swaying towards the Powershift Auto
so looks like its going to be a
Ford
Kuga 2.0TDCi (163) Titanium X 5dr AWD Auto
in Frozen White
with options
19” Alloy Wheels
Detachable Tow Bar
Driver Assistance Pack
Floor mats
Mud Flaps
Boot Liner
Bumper Protection (what does this look like? is it just a plastic cover? or more permanent please)
we
did consider the Park assist but don't think we'd use it enough to make
it worthwhile ( i have a parking space i reverse into at work and have
never had any problems parallel parking anywhere else)
I also have a
buddy in the USA who's said he can send me window deflectors, hood
protector and a few more bits and bobs as its called the Escape over
there and is the same body shape? so I've heard )

Just need to find the right dealer now and get a good deal although the girl
I've been talking to at my local ford dealer has been really helpful
so far and i do like to support local business when i can.

sounds like a good plan!

the bumper protection is in essence a piece of plastic affixed to the bumper underneath the hatch so that if you pull something out and drop a sharp bit onto the bumper, it hits the plastic instead of bumper damage.

As for your mate in the USA, sounds like your getting a good deal there!

Cheers Think the bumper protector is a definite

and yea i've owned loads of American cars and trucks over the years even as daily drivers when petrol was cheaper ;) will be selling my Bentley soon and getting another American weekend fun motor again, made loads of mates stateside who send me parts when i need em quicker and cheaper than so called specialists here in the UK lol.

lol i tried a few other cars ( Vauxhall Insignia Citroen C5 Peugeot 508 SW, BMW 3 & 5 , Audi, and some others incl Ford ) before finally finding the Kuga, we were looking for an estate car that could tow the caravan and be used as a daily driver and went to ford dealership to test drive a Mondeo, and noticed a Kuga in the showroom, had a quick sit in it and thought maybe a SUV would be even better for our needs then checked out the other SUVs on the market, but the lines of the New Kuga, Just looked right for me, ( as a GM man for most of my driving career No mean feat !! ) the Antara just seemed to be missing something ( and i dont mean a Blue Oval ;) ) Just need to decided on colour and wheel option, everything else i'm sorted on, but White Auto and 18" is looking like the final choice, with almost every option ;) i do love my gadgets lol

I thought it best that if I was going to use a swear word, I would at least whisper it, rather than stand up with a bullhorn...

as for the gadgets Eamonn, cant say I blame you, wish I could afford a toy with all the bells and whistles :(
