Help With Additional Lighting Mk 6.5

I'm looking at fitting some footwell LEDs but what I want to know is can this be wired to the cable that comes from the ignition?

At the moment I have my sub cable coming from the ignition cable (my sub will not turn on until ignition is on) would I be able to do the same with the lights or would there not be enough power for this?

Would I be better off wiring to the courtesy light and using an additional switch?

Thanks guys all advice/help much appreciated

Thinking about this, if I was to take power from the courtesy light that would mean I need to switch that on to be able to turn footedly lighting on. Am I correct in thinking this?

I think the courtesy lights are switched live so this wouldn't work if you wanted them to work independently

May be worth checking to see if it is live or neutral switched but I'm sure it's live

As for running from the same wire as the amp, I've no idea what gauge wire it is and what current it can take

The amp will draw too much power for the bulb and it'll just blow instantly.

You can make a switch up to the interior light and flick it on to cut the power to the interior light and divert to footwell. Easy components to use can be bought from maplin, fiddly but the best way to do it properly.

Okay thanks guys

I'll look into doing that way Matt

Although wouldn't a fuse from the ignition wouldn't cause any problems for anything?
