Russdaz
IS the mp215 kit worth it? Due to get it fitted tomorrow, as i couldn't get it fitted at time of purchase a few weeks back.. But seems not many like insuring the st3 with it on. One company even quite saying the car costs too much to replace. :-S
MattDRX
Not really, personally I'd of got the Revo Map and a K&N Panel for much less, but seems the appealing point is the warranty, no one has had any issues with any mod done to the car as of yet mind. Russdaz
Yeah it was the warrantee thing, bearing in mind she is only 8 weeks old. Hadn't banked on the insurance being so hard to source though.
Will-MK7
You do notice a difference with it fired but like what's been said it's a heavy price to pay for an extra 35hp. At least you keep warranty though. What insurance company are you with? As mine mine only cost £40 more with the mountune on. But I was lucky enough to have it already fitted to the car before purchasing. Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
MattDRX
It's a 15BHP upgrade bear in mind they base that claim without OB, Fiesta is 200PS on OB as standard, the MP215 will be 215BHP on OB not constant.
Russdaz
Will was with Morethan.. But they told me they don't insure class Mountune as factory regardless of when installed, and regardless of weather the parts ford approved.. Check there website they won't quote on them. Most places quote the St or st2 mp215, but don't seem to like st3 mp215. Good point Matt I was aware of that, but the torque increase will be nice, but I mainly wanted for the increased turbo sounds and induction if I am honesty :-)
MattDRX
Call Greenlight and Brentacre, proper insurance companies, they don't do web quotes but give them a google and ring them. strange what they have said, most ST2 are the same as ST3s anyway, only a few electrical mods and style pack etc.
Russdaz
Spoke with Greenlight Matt they wouldn't quote as the cost to source a replacement car would have been over £20k for the same spec as my current one. :-(
MattDRX
Is this ST3 new? or are you trying to come up with a policy tailored to your valuation?
Russdaz
Had it 8 weeks from new. But they wanted to know how much I paid for it.
Will-MK7
Yeah I did see something about them saying about the OB but it still is a good upgrade. I went with elephant when I insured mine, but now you've said that I can't remember if I say an st3 mp215. MarksST
Are you calling insurers or getting quotes online? If online don't put your reg in, put the car details in manually and ST3 215 upgrade should come up on the drop downs. Strange about greenlight, it's not as if it was much over £20k, is that what you paid or what the RRP was? Or they want to know the RRP? Russdaz
The upgrade to 215 is quite important as they will look to it to not pay up if not mentioned. As for quotes done both online and phoned. Pretty much all know about the St and st2 upgrade but not the st3. And the £21500 is both, I got a molten orange with pretty much everything, couldn't get anyone to knock money off as ford would only make it to order. MarksST
You paid RRP? What dealer in SUSSEX was it?
MarksST
Strange thing is if, you needed to claim a total loss they may only give you market value which could be £13-14k ( which is where GAP comes in), not all insurers offer new for old in the first year. Russdaz
I went to them all best I could do was £500 off.. But I was trading up a year early. I actually got a very good offer for trade in to clear my finance.
Russdaz
Very true mark which is why I was surprised they asked for the purchase figure.
roocat
I've just insured my new ST3 through admiral. During the convo they asked if its the standard or 215BHP upgrade, didn't sound like they would have had an issue with either. I said the value was £20k even though I only paid £17.5k Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC
Russdaz
Oh haven't tried admiral as morethan didn't like the 215 bit didn't think they would either.
paulyinthenorth
I had all my precious cars insured through Swift Cover. My last car was a Zetec S.. £340. When I got my Mountuned ST3 they wouldn't insure me. Crazy. Hastings Direct did for the same money as the ZS. paulyinthenorth
Oh and getting the kit for the turbo and induction sounds isn't a bad thing. Haha ;) Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC

I asked about the mountune upgrade and they said it would add just £14 to my premium so give them a try

Just reading the fine print between the 3 different quotes. :-)

Haha ;) Sent from my iPhone using Ford OC Haha i am hoping so lol.. Does it actually make much difference audiably? Never fitted a kit on a turbo car before, only ever modded n/a cars in the past, and then always open cones, or throttle bodies.

If that's what the dealer said they were lying. I paid almost £4k less than that for the same car in blue, and others have got them for even less. And as I mentioned on the other thread, you should be able to get plenty of insurance quotes on comparison sites. The MP215 barely added a few £ to my quotes when I got it last year.
