Dwainlcox
I've bought a aux kit/cable for my 06 fiesta, which has a 6000cd radio head unit. I know that the kit requires the plug to go into the back of the radio, and I've taken the radio out to check. The area that the kit goes is already taken up, however there is not an aux plug in either the glovebox or next to the gear stick. Does that mean I could take that plug out and replace it with the kit without affecting anything? Or do I even need to (will I have an aux somewhere)? Stoney871
First check that the plug in the AUX input slot is pinned for an AUX. If it's an AUX connector then it should only have pins 5, 6 & 11 populated- If any other pins are populated then it won't be an AUX input. Full plug pinout scheme- Full Quadlock layout for reference- -
Dwainlcox
Thanks for all that information, however with the plug that already fills the aux gap, is unplugging and replacing with an aux an option? Or is it needed? 21 hours ago, Stoney871 said: First check that the plug in the AUX input slot is pinned for an AUX. Stoney871
It may pay to trace the wires back. You may find the cable runs to a connector block taped to the loom somewhere.Tbh, if only the above indicated pins are populated then swapping over to your new cable will be fine.If 5, 6 & 11 aren't populated but others are then you could pop them out of the new connector block using a small (watchmaker type) screwdriver and just graft them into the existing block.Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

How do I take it out? I've got the radio off, just trying to remove the connection. Thanks
Stoney871
Quadlock or the AUX connector block? For quadlock you press the clip into the mounting clamp then pull up the clamp which pushes the quadlock out of the radio socket. For the AUX connector just push in the tab at the r/h side and pull out.Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk

Thanks for the help 👍
Stoney871
They do clip in tight for sure.Judicial application of a screwdriver and combined pushing / levering / pulling is the way forward.Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
