Van Seat Removal

Hi guys/girls needing to remove drivers seat from van ,but Im reading in the manual about mechanical and pyrotechnic pre-tensioners,whats that all about.Seemingly there is a spring somewhere that will take yer fecking head off.

Anyone confirm the best way to tackle this job safely.

the pretensioner is basically a small explosive charge that goes off should you have an accident, it will pull your seatbelt tight to hold you in the seat.

disconnect the battery and leave it 10 mins. then you can unplug the pretensioner without any fear of it going off

I have never bothered disconnecting the battery. As long as ignition is off, undo the 5 bolts, disconnect the wire and its done
