Hi all took my 2015 titanium x into local ford dealer recently for service , my tyre pressures i had  them same as handbook 33/26 , when i rechecked after service front they was 30/26 , maybe ford think they better with 30 in front? Anyone any thoughts or views on ideal pressures , thanks

30 is reasonable for winter driving. Only downside is its slightly worse on fuel economy (not really enough to be noticed. You probably use more just by deicing the car every morning).

I have the same size wheels and tyres, I put 33psi in front and 30 in rear because 2 or 3 times a week I have 3 passengers.

Table above is for up to 100mph as taken from the Ford Manual online.

I use 36 front and 30 (rather than 26) back with my ST 1.6L EcoBoost.

34 front and 32 rear as the car often has baby stuff loading the boot up.

Grip is still good and ride isn't any different when the car has just me in it. Tyre wear seems good with this setup too. Got 4.2mm left on all corners after 18000 miles

I run with 36 all round on my ST, gives you a very good feel of the road, can be very bumpy though, as you can imagine.

My car doesn't fit anywhere in that table.   1.0L EcoBoost with manual transmission - mine has 195/50/R16 and I use 33/26

Can't really understand the logic of only having 26PSI at the back?  With the majority of body roll coming from the back, as the front will use thicker roll bars and independent suspension, it must feel like a canal boat trying to go around a corner at speed?

You will have less grip and the centres of your tyres will wear faster than the edges.

Because it's front engined and all the weight is at the front. The idea is to keep the largest contact patch with the road by not overinflating.

Don't get me wrong, I understand the principle of it, but I can't help but feel it would compromise driving characteristics.  I'd rather wear tyres faster but the car drive better through corners and have more fun without feeling the cars back end is lifting.

STJAY, I use Ford's recommended 36/26 PSI for the stock 205/40 R17 Bridgestone Potenzas and haven't noticed excessive roll on the road - the stock suspension on the ST seems pretty stiff to me (and we both have the upgraded ST200 setup).

Ford may have over-tyred the rear to encourage understeer (as its safer on the road), but I would have hoped that the traction control and torque vectoring would help with that? I've not taken my ST on track so I've not experienced it at the limit, but on track days you would generally aim to counteract the loss of grip due to heat build-up by letting some air out after each session, maintaining close to the road pressures recommended by the manufacturer. For high-speed driving (>100mph), Ford actually suggests 31/29 PSI for the ST, and for track use you'd probably set that 2-4 PSI lower when cold.
