StephenFord
I have just noticed (though it could have been doing it for ages), that the electric fan on the radiator stays on 4 to 5 minutes after I switch the engine off following a drive. Temp gauge shows normal, is this normal or a sign of impending doom? (2005 Mk2 LX)

billyboy
It's normal if you've been using the air con or driving in heavy traffic but it doesn't normally come on when driving at this time of the year but so long as it goes of after 4 or 5 mins then that's ok. The fact that the gauge reads normal shows that it's doing its job and keeping the temp down.
TomsFocus
Which engine? If it's a DPF model (either 1.6 110ps or 2.0 TDCi) then chances are you've stopped during a DPF regen. For any other engine I wouldn't say it's normal to stay on every time after switch off at this time of year, just now & then after a hard run.
