ByteSlinger
I'm trying to update my Sync 3 from version2.2 but the update download that the Ford website keeps spiting out to me (SYNC3_2815874155_Update) has two files inside the 'SyncMyRide' folder that won't unzip as they are corrupted. I've tried downloading it several times on different devices (both Windows and Mac) and none of them can extract those two files. Has anyone else experienced this or found any way around this? Stoney871
Are you trying to decompile the compressed files in the folder? The files should be laid out in this format only-SyncMyRideAutoinstallDONTINDX.MSANo further unpacking is needed as the SyncMyRide folder is self extracting and processed by the car's installation system itself.Any attempts to extract the files prior to plugging into the car will result in an installation error due to file structure disparity with the autoinstall file.Sent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk
pwhite144
I have the same problem trying to update my 2014 F-150. The file that downloads from the Ford website won't unzip because the Zip file is corrupted. I did the same thing, tested it with WinZip and tried to repair it but no dice. Ford's "support" person was absolutely clueless and had no desire to help. He only knew that the system wasn't supposed to be having any problems. ????? He wouldn't even test the file for himself. He had no idea what he was doing and no desire to figure out the issue. So aggravating...

No, the proposed solution does not work. I am not able to decompress all files into the folder SyncMyRide from the main ZIP file which were downloaded. Solution? Dave Eacott
09 September 2020 SYNC 3 Map Update problems Hi, I have successfully updated the Sync 3 operating system, but am having trouble loading the new map data. I have downloaded the update 3 times and each time I find the DONTINDX.MSA file is missing. SyncMyRide Downloaded ok Autoinstall.lst Downloaded ok DONTINDX.MSA ***********This file is missing I have contacted Fords but am still awaiting a reply. This update is in two parts, and when I try to install it which takes about an hour for each part it fails and just seems to loop. I have followed the instructions and turned of the engine shut down, locked doors and waited two minutes between the parts.. I currently have map version 9, assume 10 will be the latest.? Can anyone help? Many Thanks Dave
Andyr55
F9 is the latest as far as I’m aware.
Stoney871
Map version 9 is the most up to date.If you really need the index file just create a blank text document then save it in MSA format with the DONTINDX filename.Sent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk

Maddave
I have updated sync to the latest version , but still no map update ,still on f7,and the sat nav voice now stammers. Had this car 2 years never had a map update. I think Ford have lost the plot, no updates and now only offering 1 litre petrol engines. Will seriously be looking at Toyota next time I change cars, have always had Fords and have just turned 60.

Will seriously be looking at Toyota next time I change cars, have always had Fords and have just turned 60. I too had voice break up following update from 3.3.19052 to 3.4.xxxxx. If I said 'help' the voice would stop/pause briefly/restart (in the same place). I also experienced this break up on navigation. This has been discussed on a couple of other threads on this forum & on cyanlabs. I've just used the syn3updater on cyanlabs to downgrade/reformat & reinstall 3.4.xxxx with latest F9 maps. I tried other solutions - but this fixed the break up for me. Suggest you take a look at the thread 'Sync3' on this forum & go to cyanlabs (https://cyanlabs.net/) look in their community at a thread ' voice is ticked off/stuttering'. Dave Eacott
Hi, Thank you for your comments above. On further investigation, after god knows knows how much petrol I have used with the car sitting on the drive and going cruising, it appears that I am all up to date. In fact I have probably updated it all more than once, if that is possible 🙂 Ford Sync 3 is now V3.4 Navigation Maps now V9 I found the .xml file that tells you it is complete not at the top level of my usb stick but inside the SyncMyRide Folder. I also connected my car to my WiFi and checked for updates and It confirmed I am up to date. Hope this helps anyone else that is struggling Dave

Its the same as offered by Ford on their website. Takes around 2hrs to install in car easily.Don't waste your life waiting for Ford you give it to you.

Can anyone help? REPLY FROM FORDS RECEIVED TODAY Good Morning David, I hope you are well. I forwarded your original concerns over to my technical department and sync specialists, I have been advised that the file avoids that Sync does index the USB content, e.g. looking for media files, such as MP3, However, if it claims this is missing, there is no issue. It may take slightly longer to download and update, however you can continue with the update, without the DONTINDX,MSA file, it will have no impact on the outcome. I hope this helps, however feel free to contact again if you continue to face difficulties. I HAVE NOw SUCCESFULLY UPDATED MY MAPS SYNC V3.4 Maps V9
