As well I should be! (Go big or go home is my motto) :w00t:

And yet I watched a video where a girl did a 1500 mile trip, no issues, no problems with charges everything fine and said it was cheaper than petrol for the same trip., but then again I would expect a petrol head like Guy Martin to search out all the broken charge just to make his probably biased opinion right .

I wonder who sponsored that video.

I've just look on carwow charger finder and within 4 miles of my home there are  3 or 4 free ones, Tesco, Council car parks, several free ones for Staff, Visitors or Customers at car dealers,  a Polar Plus at 10p a kwh, but that needs a £8 a month subscription.  The most expensive is 30p a kwh on the motorway service station.

So it'd be cheaper for me to park my car at Tesco's and charge than use my home electric,  not sure how happy tesco or my insurance company would be about that  🤣

Possibly  BMW as they lent her the car

Geeze, that woman can talk LOL Interesting video, good to see that she too discovered faulty refueling pumps. In 4 decades, I've never had to leave a petrol station because of faulty fuel pumps. Now I'm just wondering how sustainable giving out 'free' fuel will be...

Lol. Tesco have not installed charging at our local superstore yet, but that would certainly be a plus factor.

To me, supermarkets are very logical places for chargers - you are probably going to be there for an hour anyway so should be able to get a reasonable amount of charge while your cars sat outside. I believe though, that only 7kw chargers are free, with the 22kw and 50 kw priced "in line with market rates" so maybe you would have to leave it overnight for a full freebie.😀 My Mrs would probably just use it as an excuse to spend more time (and money, no doubt) in the store, as would many others I'm sure. Pretty cunning plan by Tesco.

Probably until we're all locked into EVs. Bit like your local crack dealer handing out freebies until you're hooked (so I've heard!😀)

Now, with some 'superstores' having upwards of 1000 car parking spaces, that'll be quite fun, seeing them all wired up to a charger LOL

Lol it'll give them yet another reason to dig up the car park, which they're always doing at our local Tesco. It does seem logical though.Go to a petrol filling station and you're normally in and out in a few mins as the turnover is rapid, so a few pumps can deal with a large number of cars. To get the same rate of throughput with EVs you'd possibly need an EV charging station as big as........a supermarket car park.

Saving the planet is a big job and it's not going to be easy - or cheap!

Brilliant, just brilliant! 🤣

To be fair I wouldn't expect free petrol so wouldn't expect free electricity.

Quite so. And in reality it's not free, someone, somewhere (usually the taxpayer) has to fund it.😃

Our local Tesco Metro has a couple of free charging points.  How long can you spend in a Metro!?

There are always cars plugged in at the Tesco Extra though.

I briefly forgot about the Austin Metro and thought you'd been a French train driver for a minute there! 🤦‍♂️

I've posted a similar link on the "Things I don't like" thread, but maybe this item on power used by Bitcoin mining is more appropriate here:

$0.05 a kwh!! if only in this country.then there may be more of an uptake in elec cars.

Yes, I did a double take at that one as well! Don't know if that's supposed to be a world average or what, but as they quote cents I had a look at the US. The average in July 2021 was about 14 cents per kwh, but varies quite widely because of different levels of State taxes, I guess. LA was  33 cents. Of course, it could just be a mistake!

Here in the UK we pay a lot of environmental taxes on electricity (about 22%) plus VAT of course - other countries may well be less.

Elsewhere today I see that Alok Sharma has also fessed up to owning a diesel. Not a great admission from the President of the COP 26 summit.
