22p per kWh sounds reasonable tbh.  Mines going to be that on the cheap rate from April, 34p on day rate!!  :o. I'm not allowed to change supplier anyway but have wondered how that compares to others?

Mine from 12 April 2022, this is fixed for 12 months, so a tiny bit more, but  another large increase coming in October for standard rate.

Electricity
Daily standing charge
Unit rate
24.38p /day
35.62p /kWh

Gas
Daily standing charge
Unit rate
26.10p /day
9.70p /kWh

It's about time manufacturers put more effort into software resilience.

Lets face it, if the aviation industry don't do it with the likes of the 737MAX fiasco and the CAA/FAA monitoring them, then there's no chance the automotive industry ever will😀

Think I timed my fixed just as gas prices worldwide were shooting up . Last of the good deals.

At 30,000 feet, the outside temperature is -44c! Now, we all know how cold weather drains a standard Tesla battery - I don't think aircraft are there quite yet...

Ha ha I was right the first time 7.875 the 32+ is my standing daily charge😤

Increased prices with Bulb.

From 1 April, our prices will be increasing

We're increasing our electricity unit rate from 20.240p to 27.630p per kWh and electricity standing charge from 29.450p to 53.046p per day.

We're increasing our gas unit rate from 3.985p to 7.345p per kWh and standing charge from 35.130p to 37.280p per day.

These prices all include VAT at 5%.

The counter argument would be if we where 100% renewable already, the prices wouldn't be going up.

It'll be very interesting how quickly countries like Germany try to move to renewable and away from Russian gas now.

Or if the 'tree huggers' would allow gas fracking where the current UK reserves are of the same scale as the whole USA, and maybe build a nuclear power station or two. This countries 'power' strategy is simply appalling...

Interesting to note that Germany is returning to coal as a fuel source after discovering that there was too little wind for it to be a viable alternative for their needs.

I see 'Vintage Voltage' are converting a BMW Isetta bubble car tonight. That should be interesting

Just got round to watching this, I love seeing how the rich squander their money, a conversion budget of £40,000 on an Isetta LOL Though I did love the metal fuel cap they had made! An interesting technical challenge in such a small car...

Not watched it yet, but does it come with a half mile extension lead for people who live in flats ?

I begin to think this whole electric car stuff is all about removing the freedom of transport from the masses and control of movement.

What did you watch it on?

I was sure the mid week Vintage Voltage was repeated on a Saturday at 6pm...but it wasn't on today.

Just watched it. An interesting technical challenge cleverly resolved. One can only imagine the transformation achieved (never having driven one) and to get a 75-100 mile range is pretty impressive.

One thing that wasn't mentioned is how the original gearbox would cope with the extra power and torque. Maybe they just made them stronger in those days.

Yes, they never had the disability of having computers, so everything was usually over engineered 'just in case'!

I don't even know what that means.  Never felt so old!!

Also on the subject of car programs...  Car SOS are doing a Mk3 Cortina on Tuesday night.  Despite being a 70s Ford, even it can't be as rusty as the ice cream van they did last week!

Every year I go through the drama of 'almost' dropping Sky. I have had it since 1994 and obviously get lots of discounts for being so loyal (NOT!!). But, she who must be obeyed always talks me out of it as she loves the ease of use, it gets all the channels she wants (she watches an awful lot of 'reality' cr*p), and of course, that 'series link' capacity which my mum also gets on her FreeView LOL I also get my Broadband & telephone on same package, and to be honest, it's all so interlinked and complicated, I'd have no idea how to separate it all out to get a better deal - they have worn me down with aggressive packaging 🤣

We canceling when our 18 month deal finishes in may. Only had it due to being at home all the time in evenings  due to covid. Nothing else to spend my vast fortune on ( I'm really joking there !!!! )

Any way, back to the original theme for a moment. We going to have a few nights away down in rye near Hastings in April and I thought, if I had an electric car would I be able to charge it up at destination . Err, nope. Would have enough  charge to get there just about. So would have to stop and fully charge on the way to get there and drive about the area. Then search out another charging station at some point the next day to keep us mobile . Return journey would need an early charge about third of way back home. Get home and fully charge for week ahead to work.

Or I can use my full tank of dirty diesel , drive there, tour the area, drive back, and still have up to 400 miles left to get to work and back the next 2 1/2 weeks. Damn. Then I'm going to fill up again. So inconvenient filling up that often.

Edit, ah I'm wrong. There is a slow 7kw charger according to Google map. Result if I want to wait there 10 hours. It's ok as according to Google it's outside someone's house so it could be free electric if the owners not there. Break in and stay there the night instead

. 😂😂😂
