The only things that would worry me are the regen thing where it feels lie it's braking and also the fact that it's keyless entry and start.

The regen thing is a bit like the high degree of "engine braking" you used to get in older cars (particularly diesel) and motorbikes. Some seem to get on with it, others don't - being an oldie its what I was used to so it wouldn't bother me!😀

Can't do anything about thescreen, vents and start button, but keyless entry you should be able to disable:

SWITCHING KEYLESS ENTRY ON AND OFF

  1. Using the information display controls on the steering wheel, select Settings.
  1. Select Vehicle Settings.
  1. Select Locks.
  1. Switch Intelligent Access on and off.

  • I can't comment on the Fiesta but the width of those damn front pillars on the Focus particularly the drivers one almost had me running over another old dear today.

  • With the state of the roads atm it's very hard to tell if it's a speed bump or something/one else 😮

Lol, I was being lighthearted there, but I'm sure it does.😀 Can't help thinking though, it's a shame we can't have cars nowadays that meet crash resistance legislation, without compromising visib

PS if you're travelling to Leyburn via the A684 from Bedale, I've spotted a police officer with a hand held speed gun lurking in the churchyard at Patrick Brompton a few times lately. Bit sneaky, imo!😀

Thanks.  I will probably get used to the engine braking/regen with a bit of practice if I do decide to go ahead and buy the vehicle tomorrow.
As for the locks and keyless entry, will that stop the key emitting a signal which can then prevent vehicle theft without the key?

Luckily I'm based at Leeming Bar. I'd only have to travel to Crakehall or Finghall if I am doing training or manning the the crossings.

I'm not sure about that tbh. I disabled mine because I just don't like it! - and because the mirrors don't fold on mine (another Mk 8.5 deletion, along with the mirror heating) so it's hard enough to see if it's locked as it is.

You might find a late 2021 car has sleepy fobs.

They only stay active for a short time after sensing motion.

So when left stationary at home there's no signal to be relayed.

Thanks Tom.
Yes, the dealer mentioned that the key should deactivate but I'll double check tomorrow.

I think they introduced them on the Fiesta in 2019?

Being a belt and braces type I still put mine in a metal box, use a mechanical lock and would probably take out the rotor arm if leaving the car for a couple of weeks, if we still had them!😀

Hmm, I'm not sure.  Had a feeling they weren't introduced that early on the Fiesta but could be wrong.

My early 2021 Focus did have them.

So, the Mk8 ST-Line X Edition MHEV 155 is now mine and the drive isn't too bad. The seats are comfortable and the ride is good.
I do like the part leather seats and love the footwell lighting, B&O stereo system and cruise control/limiter.
I can get used to the regen system as it's not as bad as I was expecting and the car does pick up quicky.
I've noticed the digital speedo is a little out though compared with the analogue one (digital one reads higher).

I've had chance to see the auto headlights working but now I need to know how to activate/use the rain sensing wipers.

I will miss the submarine and cupholder lights though and I think the door pockets are a little smaller. I'll also miss the blue colour on the Mk7.5 (deep impact blue).
One thing I did do whilst the sales rep was in the car was stall it after parking up as I put it in gear and hadn't pressed the stop button.

Bonus thing was a full tank of fuel for free as my old Mk7.5 had half a tank in and apparently they now put £25 of fuel in for handover to customers so they added another £25 so I wouldn't be losing money.
Also, the dealership are going to change the drivers side puddle indicator lens as it is cracked, they're ordering a brand new parcel shelf as there currently isn't one in the car and they will also valet/MOP the car when it goes to them for those items. Also, a new battery for one of the fobs for free as it's pretty much dead.

I was still wondering if I'd dreamt it myself, but no, found this Ford press release confirming 2019 for the Fiesta and showing consequent drop in thefts:

Doesn't seem that long ago, but time does seem to fly by when you're getting on!

Would anyone want to steal a new Fiesta? With the spec these days it would be like stealing a 1980's Lada 🤣

Just filled mine up so it's quite valuable at the mo!😀

I'm glad you're liking you new car. If I was to replace mine with another Fiesta I'd probably go for a mHEV 155.

Auto wipers are simple to activate. Push the wiper stork up one notch to what normally is 'intermittent wipe' and that's it. You can adjust the sensitivity of it using the rotary control thing on it. If this doesn't work, go into the settings on the dash (using steering wheel buttons) and there should be a menu for wiper settings.

Where you can deactivate the auto wipers if you find you don't like it, when it reverts to normal intermittent wipe.

That is why I mentioned it. The previous owner (or garage) may have disabled auto wipers.

I've just picked one up so have only had it a couple of hours with a long drive home to test things.

Little things that have anoyed me so far : - no heated or power fold mirrors, No blind spot detection, no cd player, elec windows arent one shot, arm rest box is smaller than the 7.5. keyless entry 🍆

Apart from that its great ..... so far 😄

Erm no glove box light ! Talk about penny pinching !

My late 2021 Mk8 ST-Line X Edition MHEV doesn't have a glove box light either. Didn't know whether this was intentional or just the bulb missing.

I havent had a good look at it yet, but its got the swich on the front ??

So to fit the switch and not the gubbins that lights it up is pretty messed up form Ford 🤣

Looking like par for the course. I think a guy on another forum dismantled a door mirror and found the wiring for the heating was in there - but it's not connected to anything.

(It reminds me of the "basic" 1100 Mk 1 Escort I had. It had a blank (no needle) where the temperature gauge was on the posher models. I got a gauge from my local parts department for a few bob, and when I took the binnacle out to fit it found that the blank had the wiring attached, so it literally took a couple of minutes to fit and connect the real gauge. Ford must have saved oh, at least 2p there.)

I've posted most of the missing stuff I've found (or rather not found) so far, in the last couple of pages of this thread which you started in 2021:

I forgot I started that thread 😆

Intersting that the wiring for the heated mirrors is in there. Its most annoying having rain water sat on them!

Would it be a big job to get an auto elec to connect them to the heated rear switch ?

Duno, tbh. The guy was investigating the possibilities so if he gets anywhere I'll post it.
