They've said to have all the tools including locking and vct tools

But apparently not any fuses 🤣

I would hate to think how they blew one of the mega fuses. Standby for the tails of woe when they can't get it started.

Are startup problems common after changing a mega fuse or are other problems likely to occur having replaced one?

It's not the fuse that's the problem, it's what they did to cause it to blow that's the issue.

Best just wait and see, no point in worrying before the event 🤔

The (sizeable) positive cable to the alternator comes all the way across the back of the engine and across the cam cover/engine mounting assembly. It would have been disconnected to remove said cover to replace the belt. I shouldn't guess really, but surmise the battery wasn't disconnected to do the job (risky) and the end of the cable has touched the engine or bodywork at some point.

Once the fuse has been replaced it should be fine.

Cheers ray, hoping all the sealant, gaskets etc is okay, no leaks or anything those are my main concerns, along with sensor faults etc

Just thought I'd post over a week on after having it replaced, engine runs fine and no issues. Can see they've changed the crankshaft pulley bolt as it's new do looks like they changed that at least

Mines coming up in 2 years do I spend a grand and have the car potentially another 10 years till it needs doing again or do I folk out thousands on a new car that could need things replacing 🤷‍♂️

10 years is the maximum recommended age at which to change the wet belt. It's not compulsory to wait until the car has it's tenth birthday, you can change it now or at least get it done next year if you want to limit the potential of an Ecoboom.

Only you can decide, really. Do you like the car enough to keep it another 10 years? Is it in great condition generally? Can you think of anything you'd like better that you could buy for reasonable money?

If yes, yes, and no - change the belt as Unofix suggests.

2016 eco boost, with 67,000 miles on it , cam belt failed !

ford say. 10 years or 150,000 miles, this is a common fault , so scrap yard it is , do yourself a favour, keep away from these engine, i thought progress was supposed to make things last longer, since when has designing a engine that won't last 70000 miles been progress  ?

Crappy engine, do do your research first , because if you buy one, after about 6 years at average mileage it won't be worth anything.

Would'nt mind if it was a sensible price to have changed, but this engine is not !!! STAYWELL CLEAR

Just noticed a recall for Ford 2016 to 2022 to change the oil pump belt. I think its a good idea to go for that if anyone still hasn't and ask them to also change the timing belt as I believe the labor is almost the same and hopefully they just ask you to pay for the part and the rest will be covered by the recall 🤔

That recall is only for cars in the USA.  And only for those with the 6F15 automatic gearbox.

Here you can take a look at my belts condition: Ford focus 2016 mk3.5 105000 km. The smaller one on the oil pump is almost like brand new! The timing belt has some wear sings at 8 years of age but is still in good condition. No teeth loss. Changed two days ago.

I wouldn't say that timing belt is in good condition.  Looks like considerable degradation with bits flaking off it all over the place.

The oil pump belt looks good though.  They must be made of different material compounds as has been suggested on here before.

Yes, definitely there is some wear and it is somehow more pronounced and noticeable in the photos especially if you zoom it. However with a naked eye the belt looks pretty normal and flexible with no deep cracks on the outside, no rough margins and the area of major wear is at the base of the teeth.

Have you had the sump off to check for debris in the oil pump strainer?

My opinion is that it's not 'wear', rather delamination and those bits will have gone somewhere - hopefully just flushed out during oil changes.

Looks similar to the first belt I removed (but not so bad).

To my knowledge Yes, or at least such a procedure was invoiced. I did not present at the time of the car being repaired.
