Yeh,that was phrased wrong 😁😄 I meant applying the same method, whip the head off the ecoboost, have it skimmed and tested. First of all replace the oil and oil filter as it might have emulsified.  And get a new headgasket, replace cylinder head. It might not need a bottom end rebuild.

We considered this option, but a few good points have been made since, Like the wetbelt cost etc if the original wetbelt is still in it.

I just changed the battery, and apparently the guy said it was the original battery, so the chances are everything on it is still original.

The issue then is, what to replace etc etc, and whats the cost of somebody finding out whats wrong with it, paying that money out, only to find something else is wrong thats uneconomical to repair, or would cost a fortune, but your already into lots of money in parts, and money in the guys labour etc etc,  I just didnt know what to do for the best tbh.

As it stands right now im looking at approx £2300 fitted for everything

brand New engine

new wet belt etc

new clutch kit

plugs etc etc,

  • That's no problem. I can understand the need for you to check and try and limit the cost. The sad fact is the 1.0 is well known as the Ecoboom for good reason. I suspect the damaged front bumper

Well now that is an interesting development. I expect the Chinese thought to put together the Ecoboom recovery kit.

In the olden days (just after we stopped using steam engines) of the early 1980's I've stripped and rebuilt a couple of 1300 Mk2 Escort engines but things were a lot more robust and definitely easier to work on. So far on the forum I've only heard of two guys being able to save a 1.0 Ecoboost engine from the scrap man. Even then one of the guys had to strip and fully rebuild it twice !

Well the company said 14 days for them to reply, but they replied this morning, Below is their response.....

Thank you for your patience while we investigated your complaint, I can confirm that the resolution to the complaint regarding the engine for lot #######  which you purchased from the ######  Facility will be that We will refund you £1,500.00 compensation.

At least they have done something, and going by all the complaints i see online i was sceptical anything would be done, Its not the amount it should be,  going by what cars sell for that dont run, (like mine)  But at this stage im not arguing, and have accepted their offer, so at least the new engine is now 3/4 paid for. happy days.

Very good result there.  I'm genuinely surprised you got anything back.

You and me both mate, totally surprised lol

Fantastic news 👍

That's great news! Very pleased for you. A much better result than many have had from Ford themselves, despite cars being owned from new, ffsh, etc. Well done!

Not sure if anybody knows, Or if this is even allowed ect,  When you have a brand new engine fitted, it obviously has zero miles, are you allowed to get a new mileage clocks  with zero miles on it for the new engine,   Or do you HAVE to keep the old mileage clocks in place which represent the rest of the car ?

You have to keep the miles.

Well, After 2 months since i bought the car.... Its finally back with its new engine fitted.  ive been driving it for the last week & have to say it drives nice. so quiet. I got him to upgrade the coolant hoses to the 3.5 thanks from advice on here.  Also a new clutch kit & New battery,  I got a slight rattle being the dash somewhere when pulling away slowly, need to find that 🤔

I upgraded the original wheels from 18s to 19s and its not terrible at all. maybe as im used to 22s on my truck lol.

Painted the brake callipers red

Fitted the wheel spacers

Few more little upgrades i want to do but nothing major

Also need to get the crack in the front bumper sorted, But all in all I'm back to some normality.

And the cars pretty clean for a 2013 model
